He Who Hesitates Is Lost And Russia Hesitated

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

The Russian government deceived itself with its fantasy belief that Russia and Washington had a common cause in fighting ISIS. The Russian government even went along with the pretense that the various ISIS groups operating under various pen names were “moderate rebels” who could be separated from the extremists, all the while agreeing to cease fighting on successive verges of victory so that Washington could resupply ISIS and prepare to introduce US and NATO forces into the conflict. The Russian government apparently also thought that as a result of the coup against Erdogan, which was said to implicate Washington, Turkey was going to cease supporting ISIS and cooperate with Russia.

Alas, the Russians so fervently, or perhaps I should say feverishly, desired an agreement with Washington that they deceived themselves. If Finian Cunningham’s report is correct, Washington has taken advantage of Russia’s urging that Washington and Turkey join in the attack on ISIS by invading northern Syria under the guise of “fighting ISIS.”

Syria has now been partitioned, and the pretend or fake “moderate rebels” can be built up inside the US/Turkish occupied areas of Syria and the war against Syria kept going for as long as Washington wants. The western presstitutes will report that the Turkish/American forces occupying areas of Syria are not invaders but are attacking ISIS.

With US, Turkish, and, little doubt, soon other NATO troops operating inside Syria, the neoconservatives will have many opportunities to provoke a conflict with Russia from which Russia will have to stand down or reply with force. In the event of a Trump presidential victory, the neocons want to make certain Trump is embroiled in a war that will prevent an accommodation with Russia.

It is unclear whether US Secretary of State Kerry’s effort to arrange a Syrian ceasefire was sincere and he was sandbagged by the Pentagon and CIA. Regardless, if Kerry was sincere, he is obviously unable to stand up to the neocons, blessed as the State Department is with Victoria Nuland and a number of other warmongers.

Obama is equally weak, which is why he was chosen by the oligarchy as president. A person without experience and knowledge is an excellent tool for the oligarchy. American blacks and white liberals actually believed that an inexperienced candidate from nowhere without an organization of his own could make a difference. Apparently, the gullibility of a majority of Americans is endless. This American hallmark of gullibility is why a handful of neoconservatives can so easily lead the sheeple into endless wars.

The idiot Americans have been at war for 15 years and the morons have no idea what has been achieved. The fools are unaware that the US in its decades long accumulation of weakness now confronts two major nuclear powers: Russia and China.

Americans have been taught by the presstitutes serving the military/security complex that nuclear war is not all that different from ordinary war. Look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two targets of American atomic bombs. Today, seven decades later, the cities are flourishing, so what’s the problem with nuclear weapons?

The atomic bombs that Washington dropped on these helpless civilian centers while the Japanese government was trying to surrender, were mere popguns compared to today’s thermo-nuclear weapons. One Russian SS-18 wipes out three-fourths of New York state for thousands of years. Five or six of these “Satans” as they are known by the US military, and the East Coast of the United States disappears.

Russia had a victory for Syria and democracy in its hands, but Putin lacked the decisiveness of a Napoleon or a Stalin and let his victory slip away as a result of false hopes that Washington could be trusted. Now a Russian/Syrian victory would require driving the Turks and Americans out of Syria.

If Russia struck hard and fast, Russia could succeed by using Washington’s lie and claiming that Russia thought the US and Turkish forces were ISIS, just as Washington claimed when Washington intentionally struck a known Syrian Army position.

If Russia actually annihilated the Turkish and US force, which Russia could easily do, NATO would collapse, because no European country wants to be destroyed in World War 3. But Russia won’t collapse NATO by decisive action. The Russians won’t fight until war is absolutely and totally forced upon them. Then they will pay a huge price for their indecisiveness rooted in their foolish belief that Russia has common grounds with Washington. The only common grounds Russia has with Washington requires Russia’s surrender. If Russia will surrender, Russia can achieve Western acceptance, and Washington’s agents, the Russian Atlanticist Integrationists, can rule Russia for Washington.

Remember the day when the U.S. was considered the good-guy by trying to resolve conflicts and Russia was thought of as the bad-guy, even though the U.S. position would at times be smitten with deceit.

Roles are now reversed.

As planned, for the next big one, most likely.

I’m not seeing this quite the way the author does.

I’m thinking Putin knows exactly what he is doing and is setting the stage for some larger picture he has planned.

But maybe I’m wrong, time will tell.

And it probably won’t be very much time, things are starting to happen faster and faster in both the ME and Europe.

I agree with you – the Russians are not dumb fucks like Americanos that ‘think’ they have the upper hand (U.S. politicians are too ingrained at being the bully-boy of the world – extreme arrogance).

I get what you’re saying here–but from my observation, I can’t see why you appear so mocking towards Russia for attempting peace/allowing opposition to gain ground right now.
Why would they push now–at the height of current-“leadership” panic and clear willingness to create artificial hostilities to push for wider war?
Yes, Russia’s being baited at every turn–and yes, they should bear it. You mock them for “weakness” from your analytical armchair… but who are you–an often well-written thinker–to wish for military retaliation that would begin the war you so often rail against? Why now? Are they blameless? No state is blameless.
But why would Russia ‘not’ choose to outlast the final, lurching animosities of an outgoing hostile government in the hopes of a peaceful change in a matter of months? If Hillary is elected, it won’t matter. But there’s a chance she won’t be.
Why would they take the bait and give that corrupt and generally evil outgoing government exactly what they’re asking for–it’s clear that they are the schoolyard bully looking for ANY excuse to unleash hell and distract from the universal calamity that is the world’s economy–any flinch would be the excuse to attack.
You know this–but you still write as though Russia didn’t smack the hand of your wicked government to your satisfaction, and thereby lay the blame on them for the failures in the region.
Hogwash.
The Russians will bear whatever vomit is dumped in that region, and daylight will shine in those places one day. They know this. You know this. We know this.
American criminal machinations mixed with local/regional criminal elements are murdering thousands. If nothing else, the conflict there is amplified by this government’s actions, not controlled.
I pray that all of these imperial wars fade to history, and I think that all good men do.
The last thing we need is to pour gasoline on a smoking woodpile– especially when the arsonist is holding a match daring us to do it.

“The Russian government deceived itself with its fantasy belief that Russia and Washington had a common cause in fighting ISIS” ——- PCR

Oh, please!!!

PCR just proved that he has virtually zero understanding of the Russian mindset / worldview. Russians have a long history of being fucked over by the West. They don’t forget. Even a cursory reading of the Russian oriented blogs will quickly reveal the serious distrust the majority of Russians have — from politicians to the common people — of the West.

Making an agreement is called …. diplomacy. Each leader does what he thinks is in the best interests of HIS country. An agreement to a ceasefire does not mean we’re suddenly madly in love with the other party.

He hugely underestimates that ex-KGB fellow, Putin. As if Putin just decided to suddenly shut his brain down — “Oh, my fellow Comrades. I love and trust Amerika, and so should you!!”. What a crock of shit.

I used to like PCR a lot. Sad to see over the past couple years his decline into full retardation.

UPDATE: THE RUSSIAN CRUISE MISSILE ATTACK IN SYRIA THAT KILLED 30 HIGH RANKING AMERICAN AND U.S. MILITARY COMMANDERS WHO WERE DIRECTING ISIS IN SYRIA IS NOW COMPLETELY CONFIRMED. THAT REPORT IS ON THIS PAGE UNDER YESTERDAY’S NEWS.
REMEMBER, THIS WEB SITE CALLED IT FIRST, AND UNCOVERED THE REAL ISIS AS AN AMERICAN MERCENARY CORPORATION:

THIS WEB SITE WAS THE FIRST TO PROVE ISIS CORPORATION WAS RUNNING THE MEXICAN BORDER INCIDENTS – READ THESE CORPORATE ADDRESSES AND REMEMBER WHERE THE HEADLINES WERE SAYING IT WAS ALL HAPPENING, GEE, RIGHT WHERE THE ISIS CORPORATION HUBS WERE:

After I blew the lid off their scam, they changed their site graphic to “SIS” but there are still enough references to being ISIS on their web site to prove this is not a hoax: Isishq.com GET THAT? THEIR WEB SITE NAME IS ISIS HQ.COM, – ISIS HEADQUARTERS. How much more transparent could it possibly be? AND HERE IS THEIR OFFICES PAGE I CAPTURED ABOVE: ISIS LOCATIONS HA HA HA, RUSSIA HIT THESE BASTARDS HARD IN SYRIA. Killed 30 of the top people. GOOD RIDDANCE.
Yep. Hillary’s ISIS confirmed, IT NEVER WAS “ISLAMIC” AT ALL. Too bad Russia did not figure it out sooner.

BLOCK BUSTER: RUSSIA KILLED 30 TOP LEVEL AMERICAN, ISRAELI, AND OTHER AGENTS IN A MISSILE STRIKE
I have tried to confirm this as a hoax, but apparently it is not, it is just not being reported in the Western media. Even Russia is quiet about this. Someone on the ground in Syria broke this story and it is being picked up by some of the Islamic MSM:
(Apparently) CONFIRMED: Russia conducted a cruise missile attack on American, Israeli, and British agents who were holed up in caves in the Syrian mountains, from which they were directing ISIS efforts. I cannot confirm this as a hoax story, this is being reported as 100 percent confirmed by Middle Eastern media.
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Russian warships stationed in Syria’s coastal waters targeted and destroyed a foreign military operations room, killing over two dozen Israeli and western intelligence officers.

“The Russian warships fired three Caliber missiles at the foreign officers’ coordination operations room in Dar Ezza region in the Western part of Aleppo near Sam’an mountain, killing 30 Israeli and western officers,” the Arabic-language service of the Russian Sputnik news agency quoted battlefield source in Aleppo as saying on Wednesday.

The operations room was located in the Western part of Aleppo province in the middle of sky-high Sam’an mountain and old caves. The region is deep into a chain of mountains.

Several US, Turkish, Saudi, Qatari and British officers were also killed along with the Israeli officers. The foreign officers who were killed in the Aleppo operations room were directing the terrorists’ attacks in Aleppo and Idlib.

Iran’s FarsNews has deemed this report credible via several sources. FarsNews is a cautious news agency that has zero history of publishing B.S. and that is good news, because it means Russia has called it right, and started kicking @ss for real.
I have captured it just in case it vanishes, SEE THIS. Given the current geopolitical situation the news could not possibly get any better than this. This is so good I am suspicious it is fake and only went with it because FarsNews covered it as fact.

The US right arm does not know what the left arm is doing. Soon that will lead to a disaster; possible that could lead to war. We go to a major war we will be exposed as the paper tiger. Parts for the equipped are sometimes made in different countries. This could lead to equipment shortages. Depending on who we have pissed off. We may not know who we pissed off or why until it is to late. The left and right hand need to get together. Then they need to talk with the legs before its to late. Also all that debt and SDR.

Greetings,

I think Syria will eventually announce a NO FLY ZONE over their entire country which, I should add, is their right. Russia and China will be more than happy to test all of their new missile systems against their future enemy.

I can only imagine that the only reason this has not happened is because there are not enough assets in Syria to take on the USA, NATO and Israel.

Hitler thought it possible to bomb England into submission and, more or less, lost his airforce for all his efforts. The Germans, too, depended on costly and difficult to build weapons systems and were not able to replace an entire arm of its airforce. Given that we only have 162 heavy bombers in our force and that they take years to replace, the upcoming fight should be very interesting.

“China to play greater role in Syria while US ‘left out’ ” —— China is set to increase its involvement in the Middle East by providing military training and humanitarian aid in Syria …….

Russia is just a “regional power” and the Chinks are good at building dams, railroads, and empty cities and absolutely nothing else. We can and will kick those two nations in the fuck in 60 days. or less. Bring it on!

The Russians, and possibly the Chinese, are likely to use something nuclear in the event of a big war breaking out.

I doubt we’d come out on top of one like that, maybe break even at best.

We may actually find out soon if Obama keeps his current provocations up, and especially if he expands them to a larger theater.

It is relevant to note that China is VERY good at producing counterfeit items. Many of these items look (and operate) as well as the “real deal”, and this certainly applies to electronics / microelectronics. I’m “certain” the US Mil. Procurement Divisions “only” use US semiconductors / active / passive components, and that these components are rigorously batch tested (to end-point) to assure compliance, yet I’m also aware of the daily reports of “corner-cutting” where profit maximisation is concerned, and you must wonder how much of the Military electronics may be “good replicas” rather than the real deal. How many of those “good replicas” might have designed – in weaknesses to “reduce combat efficacy”? How many of the cheaper passive components are designed to “pass the batch acceptance test” yet reliably fail under real-world conditions?

“They” don’t just produce VERY good “fake watches” . . . . .

I don’t know where PCR gets his coffee, but they might need to check the water. PCR used to strike me as a brilliant guy, but these days I suspect he’s slipping more every week. The stuff he says about Russia, especially, gets my attention because it seems absolutely outlandish.

The first thing that leaps off the “paper” to me is his idea Russia is indecisive or hesitant. Russia is fucking brilliant on strategy and long-term planning. They’re playing chess while we play checkers. For instance, I read an interesting book once (sorry, title forgotten) that suggested the entire Cuban Missile Crisis was planned and carried out to force us to the negotiating table to get medium range nukes out of Turkey. Does anyone remember how they end-runned us in Kosovo when they seized the airfield and has us sucking up to them?

I don’t believe the Russians have any illusions about US policy. They’ve seen us turn our backs on our agreements with them ever since the end of the Cold War. Remember our promise NATO wouldn’t move one step to the East?

I don’t believe the Russians have any illusions about what we’re doing in Syria, either. They’re the ones who revealed to the world how our Potemkin War was being waged. They’re the ones who made us look like clowns with their small support force in Syria last year, which set up a FOB, conducted operations, and dismantled in short time. And they’ve run circles around us diplomatically, like their legit claim they’re the only forces INVITED into Syria, while we’re there illegally. They’ve attacked the dollar with their China alliance and their attempt to create the BRICS association. They’ve peeled Turkey away from NATO. They look nimble, in my opinion, compared to our ponderous, violent, bull-in-a-china-shop moves in the world.

Finally, PCR saying we nuked two innocent population centers in Japan is outright historical revisionism.
Go wikipedia it, yourself, and tell me those were innocent population centers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki

” The target selection was subject to the following criteria:

The target was larger than 3 mi (4.8 km) in diameter and was an important target in a large urban area.
The blast would create effective damage.
The target was unlikely to be attacked by August 1945.[72]”

“Hiroshima was described as “an important army depot and port of embarkation in the middle of an urban industrial area. It is a good radar target and it is such a size that a large part of the city could be extensively damaged. There are adjacent hills which are likely to produce a focusing effect which would considerably increase the blast damage. Due to rivers it is not a good incendiary target.”
“The city of Nagasaki had been one of the largest seaports in southern Japan, and was of great wartime importance because of its wide-ranging industrial activity, including the production of ordnance, ships, military equipment, and other war materials. The four largest companies in the city were Mitsubishi Shipyards, Electrical Shipyards, Arms Plant, and Steel and Arms Works, which employed about 90% of the city’s labor force, and accounted for 90% of the city’s industry.[174] Although an important industrial city, Nagasaki had been spared from firebombing because its geography made it difficult to locate at night with AN/APQ-13 radar.[113]”

And the Japanese were not about to surrender. We stimated we would lose millions of troops taking the Home Islands. I met one of the Manhattan Project weaponeers, who told me he sat in on the planning briefings in Tinian and they estimated we would lose 1000 men an hour during the landings. After the war, we found caves with enough weapons to arm every man, woman, and child for the defense, complete with last-ditch aircraft. They were not going to surrender.

Finally, PCR talking about John F. Kerry being sincere is the obvious proof he’s going around the bend. Kerry is an earnest All-American patriot with one driving maxim in life:
Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for John F. Kerry.

BTW-did anyone see the propaganda being put out today? https://www.ft.com/content/cdd5f09c-831d-11e6-a29c-6e7d9515ad15
FT is criticizing Russia and Syria for bombing Aleppo and talking about it as if it isn’t a Syrian city.
“Samantha Power, US ambassador to the UN, said Russian and Syrian forces were “laying waste to what is left of an iconic Middle Eastern city”. Ms Power and her UK and French counterparts later walked out of the session when the Syrian representative addressed the council.”
Calling out Syria for fighting the insurgents within its borders, who we funded and trained and armed, because it is destroying Syrian cities in the process is a world-class case of chutzpa.
