When was the last time a barrel of oil went up $5 in one day? The agricultural commodity markets are closed, or they would be going through the roof too. I wonder if JP Morgan executives are enjoying their day off, as silver skrockets to new highs. Feel the pain Jamie.

I wonder what the stock market would have done today if it was open. Markets around the world are generally down 1% to 4%.

Somehow, my guess is that Bennie and his friends on Wall Street will generate a positive return tomorrow in an effort to calm the world. I’m sure the young people in Libya getting mowed down by machine guns will appreciate Bennie’s concern for the well being of bankers and despots.

    Looks to me like there’s an initial knee jerk in almost all the worlds’ markets to a flight to safety. I’d make a bet that money is flowing out of the Middle East like a river into European banks, gold and silver somewhere (from London to Hong Kong).

    If this is not a knee jerk pop, then, if other Arab countries are beset with the same “freedom” disease, this could be a tipping point as far as global finance is concerned. The broad data illustrated above shows, for the most part, a sharp but contained rise in commodities and PM’s with a big hit to near East markets.

    Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day in New York. I’d love to see JPM’s super-short in silver eat their fucking lunch and sink them like a rock. Of course, Burnbanky will immediately fire off QE II 1/2 and cover JPM’s shorts for them at taxpayer expense which, if this were a normal country with more than 10% of the population knowing whats going on, would result in riots in Washington DC.

    I can’t believe how complacent the U.S. voters are, I really don’t think they understand what the Federal Reserve is doing.

    When I talk to people, they act like the Federal Reserve is supervising and watching over our banking system and protecting the people. They do not honestly understand the Federal Reserve is in bed with the bankers.

    As Zero Hedge advised in early January when the severity of the Maghreb revolution was made all too clear to anyone not willing to stick their head in the CNBC sand, oil could well be the buy of a lifetime ahead of a downward spiral of unprecedented geopolitical proportions. Sure enough, today alone, WTI (April) has surged from $90 yesterday to over $98 in electronic trading (see below). Either this is some computer gone haywire in the closed session, or when America wakes up tomorrow we may be on the verge of another flash crash. As for Brent, it passed $108.50. As a reminder, and people forget this all too readily, each dollar jump in crude wipes out $100 billion in US GDP. That means that at face value, today’s move in the commodity complex, may have taken out as much as 5% of annualized GDP when fully processed through the economy

    Dammitt i was sitting here with low fuel in my fuel shed & for some stupid reason just came home with a empty tank in my vehical (which i never do) ~ all are full now. i always keep a few gallons in the shed down back but got lazy lately and let my guard down……..thanks for the reminder cause this ain’t no time to be off guard…………i got a big garden to plant and a tiller to run off that camel piss….heres my TBP tip ~ buy garden seeds/plants early………i’m predicting a renewed interest in gardening for 2011…….IMO from the top’a the ridge tennessee….don
