FAREWELL WYSP

My youth is being ripped away this week. Driving in today I find out that WYSP 94.1 is going off the air at 3:00 pm today. This station has been playing nothing but Rock and Roll since 1973 when I was 10 years old. If you wanted to hear some AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Stones, Pink Floyd, Skynrd or Doors you just flipped on YSP (Your Station in Philadelphia). It’s being replaced by a sports talk station. Just what we need. Farewell WYSP. I spent a good portion of my youth listening to you.

That sucks!! I grew up listening to that station. Don’t you have enough sports talk stations? It can’t be cheaper, I would think the on air talent would cost more.

Welcome to LA radio. You would think that LA would have the best rock and roll stations. They all suck ass. 95.5 KLOS is run by a bunch of aging patriarchs that have held the same shows for 25+ years. 93.1 Jack FM is a little more mainstream, but you can never predict WHAT they are going to play. I just plug in my iPad or play a CD.

    I feel for you.

@ Maddie’s Mom: I agree as far as pro’s are concerned.. I used to really enjoy collegiate football until it turns out that a lot of first stringers are very highly compensated to attend this school or that with cars, apartment, condo’s clothes and girlies.

Miami U may get their entire football program banned from NCAA this year. Haven’t heard yet but NCAA is threatening..

As much money is made with broadcasting right, souvenirs, jersey sales and all the crap (like is in TBP’s DoomStore) there are millions of bucks flowing around, through and over the spot these days and it’s likely to do just what it does in the pro’s and make it all crappy and rote..

Too bad since today is opening season’s games..

    Jeebus.

There are news reports nearly everyday of some government agency raiding – commando style – some small to mid sized business and closing them down without bringing actual charges.

These are the stories I use as PROOF that the US government is intentionally bankrupting the productive and removing opportunities for all.

Disgusting. The Supreme Court says that corporations have the same rights as people, yet they allow the government to shut down companies with NO due process. Funny how companies like Monsanto and Pfizer kill Americans yet we NEVER see this happen to them.

We are watching the future for our children be squashed. No one is doing a damn thing to change it.

    Admin and Smokey

I like women with a little meat on the bones. Skinny women turn me off. Always have. Adele, however, could stand to lose a few pounds, as in 15-20. She can really crank out the notes, though. While we’re at it, Admin, ‘splain this. GDES.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong says his sagging pants cost him a seat on a Southwest Airlines flight.

The singer-guitarist for the San Francisco Bay area band sent a message to his Twitter followers on Thursday expressing his indignation at being tossed from an Oakland-to-Burbank flight for wearing his trousers too low.

“Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f(asterisk)(asterisk)(asterisk)? No joke!” he wrote.

An ABC7 news producer who was on the same flight told the station that a flight attendant approached Armstrong as the plane was getting ready to take off and asked him to hike his pants higher. The producer, Cindy Qiu, says Armstrong initially responded by asking the attendant if there weren’t “better things to do than worry about that?”

But the attendant persisted and told Armstrong he could be ejected for his refusal to comply. When Armstrong insisted he was just trying to get to his seat, he and a traveling companion were taken off the plane.

Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins released a statement saying Armstrong was allowed onto the next flight to Burbank and had told a customer relations agent who contacted him he had no further complaints.

“As soon as we became aware of what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer’s experience,” the statement read. “He elected to take the next flight. We followed up with this Customer and involved Employees to get more details and, in our latest conversations, understand from the Customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction.”

Are you against private businesses like Southwest Airlines which create thousands of jobs and SUCCEED? I could care less whether Southwest kicked this punk off their plane because of his low riders. It is THEIR AIRPLANE AND THEIR DECISION TO MAKE, not some government drone frisking little girls at a security checkpoint.

If Southwest’s actions offend the public in general, then it’ll read about it on the bottom line of its annual report. This has absolutely nothing to do with a federal government mindset, but everything to do with letting a business alone and letting them run its show the way it sees fit.

    More on Southwest.

Southwest Airlines was incorporated in Texas and commenced Customer Service on June 18, 1971, with three Boeing 737 aircraft serving three Texas cities-Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Today, Southwest operates 550 Boeing 737 aircraft among 72 cities. Southwest topped the monthly domestic originating passenger rankings for the first time in May 2003. Yearend results for 2010 marked Southwest’s 38th consecutive year of profitability. Southwest became a major airline in 1989 when it exceeded the billion-dollar revenue mark. Southwest is the United States’ most successful low fare, high frequency, point-to-point carrier. Southwest operates more than 3,400 flights a day coast-to-coast, making it the largest U.S. carrier based on domestic passengers carried as of December 31, 2010. On May 2, 2011, Southwest acquired Orlando-based AirTran Airways and expects to complete the integration of the two airlines over the next several years.

Awaiting your response or the sound of crickets. Your choice.

You better watch out. Old men tend to have their pants sag without even knowing it. I wouldn’t want to see an old CIA agent tossed off a plane.

Nice copy and paste about Southwest. It seems their reputation is doing better than their actual results. Their profits are on track to be down 30% this year and their stock has collapsed from $14 to $8.

As your own post mentioned, they are scrambling to backtrack on what they did. Wow. There is a company that has their act together.
