Looks like more than $2 waffle makers were selling on Black Friday. The clueless morons wait in lines for 24 hours to get a $200 TV, while the critical thinkers who can see what is coming are making investments in protection.
Gun Sales Surge on Black Friday: Over 129,000 Background Checks Flooded the FBI
Either gun manufacturers did a fantastic job on Black Friday promotions, or the American people are quickly waking up to the reality that all is not as peachy as it may seem.
Gun dealers flooded the FBI with background check requests for prospective buyers last Friday, smashing the single-day, all-time high by 32%, according to bureau records.
Deputy Assistant FBI Director Jerry Pender said the checks, required by federal law, surged to 129,166 during the day, far surpassing the previous high of 97,848 on Black Friday of 2008.
The actual number of firearms sold last Friday is likely higher because multiple firearms can be included in a transaction by a single buyer. And the FBI does not track actual gun sales.
…
Dennis Henigan, acting president of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, said he was “skeptical” of the Black Friday gun surge.
“I think there may be no real signifcance at all,”

“Gun Sales Surge on Black Friday” Video report:
Perhaps Mr. Henigan of the Brady Center is right and the fact that this was the single largest sales day for private gun sales in American history holds no significance.
Or, maybe there is something more to the recent surge in gun sales. Perhaps over a hundred thousand Americans came to the conclusion that rising crime, sustained unemployment, suggestions of apocalyptic meltdown in Europe, and fear of a potentially catastrophic hyperinflationary depression in the United States are reason enough to have a firearm – just in case.
The preppers were out in droves last week, and they weren’t interested in the latest tablet PC, 3D television or video game system. Instead, they were stocking up on gear and preparing for the “possible collapse” of society.

I truly hope that dipshit really believes that. Better (fro him/them) to live in denial than to crank up their efforts to further erode the 2nd Amendment.

Fire arm sales are way up but most of America is still comfortably numb. The preppers are out there in numbers, but in very small numbers compared to the morons.

Only after the all the important celebratory worship do they get concerned about that huge hunk of fat that just turned purple and green or why their dick fell off with health care at #5. It probably should be called Health Care For Free News because they are all broke. Since they are all broke and in hock up to their ears they can’t pay for all the Christmas shopping. Hence they are checking into how to start #8 bankruptcy proceedings in January when the first installments on all the cool stuff are due. Also some are searching to see if #10 Obama has set up free bankruptcy clinics they can go to for assistance and maybe some additional free shit. And for the unreal…Cyndi Lauper? That’s right, Cindy Lauper the 1980′s singing, dancing bimbett that made Madonna look like a class act is on the top ten yahoo search list. And even more strange is that someone like Cyndi Lauper is displacing the funk monkey skanktress Lady Gaga.

Just bought a slide fire stock about an hour ago. Then I realized I “needed” another AR-15 to put the stock on so I just went on gun broker and got a Colt M4. I’m doing my living room in early American assault rifle.

@Mary Malone: I hear that body armour is like being on tee vee: adds 20 pounds to your figure, heh.
The gun sales are no surprise, really, people know there is a shit storm coming.
It bears posting again:
Just don’t forget the ammo, at least 2000 rounds per caliber and some reloading stuff/knowledge is also a plus.

These gun sales are amazing stats, Hope. Would love to see the sales break outs according to state or region, wouldn’t you?
Wonder if the true believers in the south, and west are where most of the sales were…or, if people in the blue states in the east and west are waking up?
That data could be telling…

Hope@ZeroKelvin says:
@Mary: The FBI probably has that data because there were so many requests for background checks.
I would bet it was mostly in the West and the South, plus places like Idaho, Wyoming and the Dakotas. The people in the blue states will NEVER wake up, I fear, if they haven’t already. They are a lost cause. I mean, California re-elected Jerry Brown and just put in their own illegal amnesty program in place!!!!
What will be really interesting is to see how violent crime falls in the places where all the guns were bought, because that is what usually happens.
Here’s me in my body armour, LOL, (I wish!!).

I think you’re probably right on the geography of the sales…I’m gonna try to get a break-out to see if maybe, just maybe some of my nabes are silently on board…

From USA Today:
Larry Keane, a spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, said 25% of the purchases typically involve first-time buyers, many of them women.
“I think there also is a burgeoning awakening of the American public that they do have a constitutional right to own guns,” Keane said.
Yet Keane said last Friday’s number appeared to defy complete explanation. “It’s really pretty amazing,” he said.”
The authors also cite relaxed gun laws in cities like Seattle and the Tuscon shooting as factors.
If memory serves, didn’t Chicago relax gun laws – mainly because of an Ill court ruling?
NY and NJ are severely restricting gun-owners rights. I hear PA is alot better….

From NY Daily News…
Andrew Molchan, director of the Professional Guns Retailers Association, pointed to recent legal decisions that make it easier to own firearms in some parts of the country, including the Supreme Court overturning gun bans in major cities.
“The laws have changed, and it’s a lot easier to give firearms as Christmas presents,” he told the Daily News. “I think it’s just kind of a natural thing.”
He also said that firearms were increasingly popular in the under-30 age group.
Richard Pearson, executive director of the Illinois State Rifle Association, said that his group had seen an increase in people signing up for firearms training over the past couple of years.
As for the Black Friday increase, he said, “I think all of the ladies in the household, including the one in my household, went to the mall and then the men hid out at the gun show.”

Mary M-It has been a while since I paid close attention to Chicago-You couldn’t pay me enough to set foot in that corrupt cesspool. But yes, Supreme Court ruled that Chicago could not deny individuals right to own handguns. Mayor was outraged, of course, and used the allowance to “regulate” them so that, I understand, there is still a de-facto ban. Unless you are properly connected, of course. I grew up in So Cal, and I thought CA’s gun laws were bad (they are!), but Illinois puts CA to shame.
