Ex-wife tells ABC News Gingrich wanted ‘open marriage’ with both wife and mistress

WASHINGTON — Newt Gingrich’s second wife says the GOP presidential candidate asked her for an “open marriage” in which he could have both a wife and a mistress.

In an interview with ABC News’ ”Nightline” scheduled to air Thursday night, Marianne Gingrich says she refused to go along with the proposal.

The interview is airing just two days before the South Carolina presidential primary, and as Gingrich is gaining ground on GOP front-runner Mitt Romney.

Marianne Gingrich was the candidate’s second wife. He is now married to Callista Gingrich, with whom he has acknowledged having an affair.

In excerpts of the interview released by ABC, Marianne Gingrich said Gingrich conducted his affair with Callista “in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington.”

    Wow, tough blow to the Gingrich campaign. And just when he was about to jump up so much in the polls from Perry’s endorsement.

    Romney is a real nice guy too:

    Preaching to the choir here, but most of the Republican candidates are monsters, or idiots, or both. Ron Paul is in a different class. The evil rulers behind the curtain intend only to give us a Hobson’s Choice. At this point I would rather see Paul running as an independent, because there are only three or four “Republicans” in Congress who I don’t consider utter slime, and the party thus taints everyone who affiliates with it. (Same for Dems.)

    Newt is way way way worse than this marriage thing.

    His favorite presidents include:

    1) Andrew Jackson – the guy who declared war on Native Americans and killed a whole lot of them.

    2) Woodrow Wilson – a ghastly progressive whose League of Nations/Treaty of Versailles lead to WW2 and who perfected the art of governing by the intellectual “elite”, that has worked out so well.

    3) FDR – the guy who interned AMERICAN CITIZENS that happened to be of Japanese descent during WW2

    4) Teddy Roosevelt – the architect of the ginormous federal land grab called the National Park System, among other things.

    No, Newt is bad on so many levels beyong marital infidelity, the mind reels. Problem is, no one is going to really examine his actual RECORD and BELIEFS because this attack will distract people from that.

    Be warned, Newt is a big gov, progressive, neo-con opportunistic snake completely in the pockets of Wall Street and the war machine.

    But Hope, the crowd at the SC debate the other night went wild when he said Andrew Jackson knew what to do to our enemies – “KILL THEM!!!!”

    Hope – agree with most of your list, but Andrew Jackson had some extremely good points as well – namely, going after and terminating the Second Bank of the United States (predecessor to the Fed), which he accurately identified as being evil.

    @Admin: I heard about that. That clip is already on youtube. I wept in shame and rage when I saw it this morning so good thing I am not wearing mascara today.

    But gods help us, I think Newt is tapping into something very bad but very real here.

    People are still worked up over “War on Terror”, they see their standard of living slipping away, they (may) realize that Amerika is finished. So they are looking for someone to blame, anyone that they can vent their rage and fear on.

    You watch, either Obama or one of the Repubs is going to use this tactic to harness all that restless, as yet unfocused, energy in the country right now.

    Have we really changed all that much in 2000 years?

    Ecclesiastes 1:9

    What has been will be again,
    what has been done will be done again;
    there is nothing new under the sun.

    The blood thirsty SC crowd booed the Golden Rule when Ron Paul brought it up. They want war. They love war. Just like George Carlin says.

    @Persnick:

    As to Andrew J: 10 points for getting rid of the central bank but MINUS ONE MILLION points for genocide of the Native Americans.

    After all, even Hitler was kind to his dogs, was faithful to Eva, was a vegetarian and a teetolar – and he gave the world the autobahn and the volkswagon. But that little matter of genocide tips the scales a wee bit……

    “I believe Newt is a conservative visionary who can transform this country,” Mr. Perry said

    “Don’t be fooled by the words candidates use when they are running for office. Look hard at their records. My record is one of true limited government, anti-Washington, D.C. conservatism,” Mr. Paul said in an email to supporters Thursday.

    “Newt Gingrich has a long record of liberal appeasement, flip-flopping on key issues, and lobbying for insider millions,” Mr. Paul added.

    Someone reminded me of this song today. Yeah, Colma, it is a pansy-ass hippie song. But the lyrics are better than I remembered. In Newt’s honor:

    “He can’t even run his own life, I’ll be damned if he’s gonna run mine”
