I first tuned into Shark Tank at the end of last season and it instantly become one of my favorite shows. I loved the business ideas, the pitches, and of course, the wheeling and dealing from “the Sharks”. It was both entertaining and somewhat educational from a business savvy standpoint. However, as the episodes progressed and I started talking to some other people, I’ve started to wonder if Shark Tank is a scam.

We have had Dragons Den in the UK for years. It’s had a few dodgy dealings and successes and was quite interesting early on, but now it’s complete ‘infotainment’ with ritual humiliations and bullshit.
They have an occasional retrospective “How did they do?” program, everybody looking appropriately happy/wiser, but no-one mentions the way the fruits of success are shared.
Some of those deals they cut were financially punitive, others gave the Dragons a chance to clone themselves or consolidate an area they had interest in.
