Oh where, oh where can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me.
She’s gone to heaven, so I’ve got to be good,
So I can see my baby when I leave this world.

All initiation of force is a violation of someone else’s rights, whether initiated by an individual or the state, for the benefit of an individual or group of individuals, even if it’s supposed to be for the benefit of another individual or group of individuals.

Thanks everyone. She’s had cancer since 2006. In 2009 Mayo told her to get her affairs in order. That’s when I took over and researched everything I could. We got into every clinical trial we could, traveled to hospitals around the country, and it gave us a few more years. We got to see our girls walk the aisle together for college graduation. That was a big goal.
She was a wonderful and very talented woman. As I mentioned some time back, a bankers daughter who loved the outdoors and fell in love with a farmer. We did everything together, and when we weren’t farming she was in her gardens while I was in the shop. We were fortunate enough to travel some, New Zealand, Rome, Puerto Rico and a few more. I have those memories, too. That and 3 great kids.
I am a better man for living with her for the almost 30 years of our marriage. It was never about her even to the end when she helped the oncologist by saying “it’s OK, I’m ready.”
I would wish someone as wonderful as her with all of you.
Thanks again.
EF

I’ve been married for three years now, and we were together for three years before that. Since we first met we have done everything together, only spending 2 nights away from each other this entire time (damn you business trips!). I can’t imagine the pain. Is it cliche to say “I’m sorry for your loss,” if you truly mean it?
I’m sorry, truly and deeply.

You and your family represent everything that is great about this country – love, hard work, caring, and family first.
It’s for our kids’ future that we have to keep fighting the good fight.
I wish you and your family peace.

I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve been married 24 years and I do not even want to imagine your sense of loss. As an amateur astronomer I’m a big fan of beautiful things in space so I thought of this for you.
A Space Rose for efarmer.

Appropriately known as Reflection Nebula NGC7129 in the constellation of Cepheus.

Indentured, Thanks
After a doctor visit in Chicago a year ago December we drove to Florida, then then on to Key West. On the way, we stopped at Cape Canaveral and while there saw the IMAX on the Hubble Telescope. To see these magnificent photos of the nebula’s on the big screen was stunning, nearly overwhelming.
When my wife and I walked out we agreed that all our petty skirmishes here on earth seemed so childish.
Thanks again. EF

I know exactly what you mean. Whenever I’m out looking at deep sky objects with a telescope, I ponder the tremendous distances and time scales involved and I am truly humbled. Every photon of light from that reflection nebula I posted, traveled at 186,000 miles every SECOND for 3,300 years to land on the digital detector that captured the image.

I say this sincerely. Farming is the noblest of endeavors. Nothing else comes close.
You and your wife were not only able to share each other’s love for nearly 30 years but also your mutual love of the pursuit of producing nourishment from the soil. Those will be memories for you which will transform from sadness to a source of comfort.
An admirer wishing you peace,
