    I have always been intrigued by the Battle of Bull Run, the opening battle of the US Civil War, known to southerners as the War of Northern Aggression. Extreme hubris characterized both sides, the North before the battle and the South afterwards.

    Republican politicians and their ladies in their finery road out to Manassas, the Virginia town through which the stream, Bull Run, flowed, in carriages to watch the Union Army end the “Southern Rebellion” in one fell swoop. What they witnessed instead was the Union Army fleeing back to Washington with its tail between its legs. The flight of the northern troops promoted some southern wags to name the battle, the Battle of Yankee Run.

    The outcome of the battle, left the South infected with the hubris that had so abruptly departed the North. The southerners concluded that they had nothing to fear from cowards who ran away from a fight. “We have nothing to worry about from them,” decided the South. It was precisely at this point that hubris defeated the South.

So a more accurate summary of who is morally guilty, is that people accepted loans they should have known they would not be able to afford if ever the market turned down, but which were offered to them by professional bankers who assured them they would be fools not to get on the property ladder. Second, a vast number of the loans which have gone bad in Spain were not in fact ever made to ordinary people. They were made to developers and construction companies. It is those companies which have defaulted.

    I am not saying ordinary citizens bear no responsibility. My concern is to stick a knife into the diseased carcass of Spanish Politics and bring to the surface the parasites who have gorged themselves on the flesh of Spain for decades and insist that their blame be recognized…”

    We also call them trolls, and I suppose they do exist in the conservative camp, however, I would hazard to say there are far fewer of them in the Ron Paul and Libertarian camp, simply because true Liberals have too much respect for their fellow man and an implicit understanding that words are powerful and should not be strewn about like garbage.

Farange has correctly predicted the European Union’s weaknesses and failures since 1999.

    Then you challenged the Administrator to “wonder what side you’re on,” who in turn challenged you to explain your comments, particularly the European Union and its premier accomplishment, the Euro currency.

    You need to skip the standard TBP animus and provide your insights, suggestions and recommendations to improve the EU. Farange says the EU and the Euro are, basically, a bucket of shit. You need to tell us why that isn’t so. Thanks.

    They turned to him as a last straw because their economy was wrecked by hyperinflation and the depression that followed the mismanagement of their economy.

    Try this “critical thinking” (something you accuse us as not having) on for size. Many, if not most, regular visitors to TBP are Ron Paul supporters, including me. Now, if there is one candidate in this presidential race who is NOT a good, inspirational orator, it’s Dr. Paul. He doesn’t shout, he doesn’t pound the speaker’s podium, and he doesn’t animatedly prance around the stage to make his points. He delivers, rather blandly I might add, a staightforward message based on liberty, personal freedom, and personal responsibility.

    Oh, and he doesn’t urge his supporters to KILL people that disagree with his politics, as you accuse us.
