IN CASE YOU HADN’T NOTICED

Since the MSM only reports gas prices when they are declining, I wanted to provide some facts. I noticed that the gas station near my house has had a 10 cent jump in prices in the last 5 days. It seems prices are again on the rise. As you can see from this 3 year chart, prices ebb and flow. They ebb and flow in a steady upwards trajectory. National gas prices are up 5% since the beginning of the year, up 25% from 2 years ago, and up 36% from three years ago. And Bernanke and his Fed lackeys have the balls to declare inflation under control. We now have food prices up 30% YTD and poised to go much higher. We have gas prices rising while we are in recession. And the Federal Reserve has the gall to say that inflation is dropping. Before they hung their hat on the CPI going down because Owners Equivalent Rent was dropping. Rent costs are soaring at an annual rate over 5%. WTF. What exactly is going down in price other than our real wages? Is your locality reducing your property taxes and fees? Is school tuition going down? How stupid do the oligarchs think we are?

I remember back in 2007 how me and my girlfriend would sit around and talk about how awesome the world would be when we made over $100K/year.

Fast forward to today: that girlfriend is my wife, and we make $110k/year. The economy has never looked shittier(well, cept that one time). There is no way we can get promotions fast enough to keep up with this economy.

How times change. I remember sitting around in 1967 and telling my wife about how rich we’d be when we were making $12K/year. 32 years later we still didn’t get to $100K.

Mayor Nutter is on a record pace. I think we can break the all-time murder record this year. Keep your fingers crossed.

Sheesh Jim…who needs Planned Parenthood. Just being in the hood is doing the job nicely. Good luck with becoming #1. How close are you to Chicago? Last time I checked, you guys were 23 people out of first place. Maybe Philly and Chitown will get into the knockoffs this October. That would be exciting to watch.

Rahmbo is going to give Nutter a run for his money, I’m afraid.

Chicago’s murder record was set in 2003, when the city had 283 homicides by the end of June, and 601 over the year. We have 275 murders so far this year.

Funny you should mention “.. I wonder what pigeon will taste like with rice and ketchup… Throw some nukilar crab in the pot too….” Colma.

I went ballistic on a semi-feral cat that was chasing one of my bunnies (or future hasenpfeffer, as I like to think of them).

He was stalking one of this summer’s “teen” bunnies across my patio. The can from the recycle bin thrown at him scared the crap out of him. My 100 lab barreling out the door and chasing him far, far away must of nearly stopped his wittle heart.

I’d feel bad if not for the fact those bunnies are part of my suburban survival plan.

A sure indicator of the real economy where you live is rentals.

Even though nearly everyone (with a job) thinks that SE Michigan is “booming” (all fed or bond monies), the reality is that the apartment complexes are still offering free rent and the upscale places that used to have closed waiting lists (back to 2007/2008, even after our economy tanked) are now throwing open houses and giving perks.

So much worse than being reported.

It is impossible to fix a problem you refuse to acknowledge.

The problem is the government at all levels has squashed the desire to do better than scraping by and now are intentionally crushing small companies to keep their coffers (temporarily) full.

Until that stops neither will our swirling ever closer to the drain.

No matter what the “experts” think about it.

In my evil little neck of the woods, commercial rents are dropping. My employer was even offered a lower rate without asking because so many other businesses in the area are moving or threatening to move. My favorite restaurant, a local mom & pop type place, is relocating because his current landlord is raising rent but he is finding that rents are VERY negotiable to the downside in our area.

AWD, my former boss was born and raised in the toe of Italy. His family was so poor that as he and his siblings played outside, they would catch all sorts of critters from frogs and snakes to birds and small mammals that became dinner that night. Luckily, his current neighbor (WWII vet) hates all non-native species and and shoots pigeons, sparrows and starlings in his back yard with a BB gun. He has a wiener dog that runs out and retrieves them. They go into a bag then the freezer and when there enough for a meal, my former boss picks them up and cleans & cooks them. I can attest that they are very good eating.

I meant to add that all you preppers out there should include a couple of good BB/pellet guns plus ammo in your aresenal for quiet urban hunting if needed. Most birds, squirrels, rabbits, possums and other small critters are very good eating if needed. You can even bait them in.

IS, I’ve got both a Red Ryder BB gun, just like Ralphies, an old pellet gun and a really cool, modern slingshot.

I want to get a crossbow, was hoping to get as a present, but have been told that I’m not getting any more weapons. That is at the top of my wish list as the next item I must have.

    Great suggestions IS, thanks!
