COMMON SENSE VERSUS LIBERAL GIBBERISH

I absolutely love it when average people do the exact opposite of what the liberal press and “progressive” do-gooders call for. The Colorado massacre immediately brought out the usual calls from people who want to control every aspect of your life, from the size of your soda, to your healthcare, to molesting you in airports, and protecting you from phantom terrorists. They called for a ban on guns and massive taxes on ammo. As the government grows more powerful and the economy hurdles toward collapse, they don’t want you armed. They want you to be subservient and begging to be saved. Well it ain’t gonna happen. There are a minority of critical thinking, freedom minded individuals who will tell Obama, Pelosi, and Reid to go fuck themselves. If you don’t own a gun, buy one ASAP.

Stock tip of the day – Buy Smith & Wesson.

Fear prompts gun sales, panic after Colo. massacre

DENVER — Firearms sales are surging in the wake of the Colorado movie theater massacre as buyers express fears that anti-gun politicians may use the shootings to seek new restrictions on owning weapons.

In Colorado, the site of Friday’s shooting that killed 12 and injured dozens of others, gun sales jumped in the three days that followed. The state approved background checks for 2,887 people who wanted to purchase a firearm — 25 percent more than the average Friday to Sunday period in 2012 and 43 percent more than the same interval the week prior.

Dick Rutan, owner of Gunners Den in suburban Arvada, Colo., said requests for concealed-weapon training certification “are off the hook.” His four-hour course in gun safety, required for certification for a concealed-weapons permit in Colorado, has drawn double the interest since Friday.

“What they’re saying is: They want to have a chance. They want to have the ability to protect themselves and their families if they are in a situation like what happened in the movie theater,” Rutan said.

Day-to-day gun sales frequently fluctuate, but the numbers also look strong outside of Colorado, too.

Seattle’s home county, King, saw nearly twice as many requests for concealed pistol licenses than the same timeframe a year ago. Florida recorded 2,386 background checks on Friday, up 14 percent from the week before. Oregon sales on Friday and Saturday were up 11 percent over the month prior. Four days of checks in California were up 10 percent month-to-month.

During the past decade, June and July have consistently been the slowest months for gun sales, according to FBI data.

Jay Wallace, who owns Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna, Ga., found that his sales on Saturday were up 300 percent from the same day a year ago — making it one of the best Saturdays his business has ever had. He said customers are often afraid when there’s a gun-related tragedy that some lawmakers might try and push through an anti-gun agenda.

“We shouldn’t let one sick individual make us forget and lose sight of freedoms in this country,” Wallace said.

Authorities have said that the suspected Colorado shooter, James Holmes, methodically stockpiled weapons and explosives at work and home in recent months. He purchased thousands of rounds of ammunition and a shotgun, a semi-automatic rifle and two Glock pistols, authorities said.

On Friday, clad in head-to-toe combat gear, he burst into a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises,” tossed gas canisters into the crowd and opened fire. The shooting killed 12 people and wounded dozens of others.

Police in the Denver suburb of Aurora say Holmes also booby-trapped his apartment. Holmes is now in solitary confinement at a local jail.

The rise in gun sales reflects but one of the anxieties created by the shootings. Since the massacre, there have been reports of chaos at movie theaters, apparently sparked by misunderstandings or careless words.

A confrontation with an intoxicated man in an Arizona theater caused about 50 people to flee, authorities said. A southern California man was arrested after authorities say he made allusions to the Aurora massacre after the movie didn’t start on time. In New Jersey, a showing of “Batman” was canceled after someone stood up during the movie, opened an emergency exit and then returned to their seat.

About 90 minutes into a Monday night showing of “Batman” in Santa Monica, Calif., shrieks from some girls sent about two dozen people sprinting for the exit. It turned out that a large man with a backpack was actually not a threat and was simply having a medical problem.

“This was nothing, and yet it startled us and rattled us so much,” said moviegoer Paria Sadighi.

Nationally, the shootings have triggered a fierce debate over gun control and whether government has a role in reining in the ownership of firearms.

Gun sales often fluctuate based on news events, especially whenever people think the passage of more restrictive gun laws is imminent. Sales spiked following the election of President Barack Obama, when weapons enthusiasts expressed fear that the Democrat might curtail gun rights. FBI figures also show background checks for handgun sales jumped in Arizona following the shooting of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in 2011.

“It’s not uncommon for us to see spikes in requests for concealed pistol licenses when there’s a significant gun-related tragedy,” said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County sheriff’s office in Washington state.

Some Democratic lawmakers in Congress cited the shooting as evidence of the need for tougher gun control laws — particularly a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines. Congress, however, hasn’t passed strict legislation in more than a decade, and leaders in Washington show no sign of bringing up such measures any time soon.

    How did this happen?

The Dunblane school massacre occurred at Dunblane Primary School in the Scottish town of Dunblane on 13 March 1996. The gunman, 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton, entered the school armed with four handguns, shooting and killing sixteen children and one adult before committing suicide. Along with the 1987 Hungerford massacre and the 2010 Cumbria shootings, it remains one of the worst criminal acts involving firearms in the history of the United Kingdom.

Neighbor Alan Barber said police went to the front of the suspect’s house, but the suspect ran to the back. Police went around the house to the back and the suspect allegedly came out onto a porch waving a nearly four-foot samurai sword over his head.
Barber said two police officers ordered the suspect to put the sword down. But Barber said the suspect refused. Barber heard the suspect taunt the two police officers to shoot him, which they did almost immediately.
“He said ‘shoot me’ so they shot him,” Barber said. “The cops shot three times — blam, blam, blam — and just blew him away.”

    by Karl Denninger
in Editorial Mayor Bloomberg Attempts to Foment Insurrection

Oh now you’ve done it Mr. Mayor….

Last night New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg made an extraordinarily dangerous and radical pronouncement. He was appearing on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” when the host asked him: “Why do so many Americans not feel angry enough to demand further gun control?” Here’s his answer:

Well, I would take it one step further. I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say, we’re going to go on strike. We’re not going to protect you. Unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.

After all, police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult but, more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them, and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor-piercing bullets.

    I see.

The Mayor lied in his little screed as well. He claimed that being a cop is particularly dangerous. That claim is a lie. Not only is being a cop not a particularly dangerous profession (famers, ranchers, fishermen, loggers, truck drivers, pilots and many more occupations are more likely to lead to serious injury or death) but in addition it is far more likely that a civilian will be shot by a cop than a cop by a bad guy. In fact, it’s ten times more likely.

So having dispensed with the liar-in-chief in NY City we’ll take a look at the legalities of what he was talking about.

There’s appears to be a problem there too. Mr. Mayor seems to be demanding that citizens surrender constitutionally-protected rights through the use of force.

Oh, and strikes by police officers in NY are illegal on top of it.

Let me see…. oh yeah, now I remember. 18 USC 242 (Criminal) and 42 USC 1983 (Civil) appear to apply here Deprivation of civil rights, check. Using color of law or authority, check.

My oh my, it would appear that Mr. Mayor has advocated an action that could bring both civil and criminal response, should he not just be shooting his mouth off in a two-year old-style temper tantrum.

So now having discerned that Mayor Bloomberg is both arguing for something that is quite-possibly both civilly actionable and a crime, and that he lied in trying to make his case, we’ll next turn to the practicalities of his call, for this is where the fun really begins.

And in that regard my response to Mayor Bloomberg is simple: DO IT.

Here’s why. See, it wasn’t all that long ago that citizens lacked the one thing that police officers and other civil authorities had — a decent communications network that would “go anywhere.”

This is no longer true. We almost all have cellphones with Twitter and other similar media — even teens have these items nowdays.

And that’s the great equalizer, because for every crook there are hundreds of law-abiding citizens and today it’s trivially-easy for us to organize and defend ourselves and our communities.

So go ahead, Mr. Mayor, call your strike. Let all the cops walk off the job.

    I dare you.

Because the day you do it, there will be nobody to enforce the law in NY that says you can’t have — or carry — a gun. So guess what? All the law-abiding citizens will do exactly that. And those citizens can easily organize using a simple hashtag to call attention to anything bad going on. See, our phones all have GPSes in them, so when we tweet “Robbery at the jewelry store on 26th!” the position pops up on a map for anyone who sees it. And shortly thereafter two or three dozen armed citizens will appear out of nowhere and Mr. Robber has a problem, as he doesn’t have enough guns and bullets, not to mention being cornered.

Then we just deliver the crooks we catch (and we would catch a lot of them) to the prosecutors. If they want to go on strike, we’ll appoint some new ones. I bet the judges will still sit behind benches and book people into jail. Oh, if the cops that man the jail quit? What did you say the unemployment rate was in NY City again? I suspect there will be plenty of applicants to fill those vacated positions.

There’s one exception to the citizens organizing and coming together to protect their community, of course. Those cops who walked out? And the Mayor himself? **** you all.

I bet there are a bunch of thugs who think all the pretty art at the Mayoral residence is a good theft target! Oh darn, the Mayoral Mansion isn’t one of those places where guns carried by citizens are welcome, is it? Since you’ve set the standard for your personal space we will be happy to oblige you and allow you to fend off the gang-bangers all by yourself, without our help.

We’ll even post “gun free robbery zone” signs in front of your house, office, and on your car so the bad guys know that just for you — and the former cops — it’s “hands off.” It’s the least we can do.

Best of luck in your endeavor Mr. Mayor.

You see, Mr. Mayor, I know you’re bluffing.

    Do you know why?

Because if the cops actually did this NY City wouldn’t descend into lawlessness, as you threaten. It would instead become a “polite society” in very short order, as would any other town or city where this took place. Indeed, I bet it would take mere hours. But the harassment and stupidity displayed by the “Boys in Blue” and the threats would all go away. Speeding tickets? You’re joking, right? Parking violations? Bah. “Stop and frisk”? Surely you jest. Why would I frisk my next-door neighbor? We’ll share a beer instead. That’s what neighbors do instead of your boys’ paramilitary bull**** in treating the people like they’re in living in an occupied country.

But stick someone up? Now that I’d show up to help out with and put a stop to.

At the same time with all those cops that went on strike, well, they abdicated their jobs! That would solve the city budget problem wouldn’t it? No retirement and pension expenses, no health insurance, no salaries, no bribery scandals and ticket fixing games, heh, this is a pretty good deal! I suspect the citizens would like it too.

In short order the citizens of New York would discover what it’s like to be a free people again. A people who are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights that you and your jackbooted cronies have abused for decades such as life, liberty and the pursuit (but not guarantee) of happiness. They would realize that the right to life of course includes the right to self-defense, and that defense of one self and one’s neighbors is part of what makes a community, well, a community.

Your threat is in fact worthless because were you to ever carry it out you’d simply demonstrate that not only are you wrong, but your entire armada — something like the 7th largest “army” in the world — was an unnecessary and ridiculously expensive exercise in thuggery, and the people, once they experienced the alternative, wouldn’t want your boys in blue back.

In short the citizens would send both you and them packing, and in that regard we’re not talking about firearms.

Vox Day brings up few questions concerning the Holmes murder spree. Those in government lie so damn much ,why should anyone trust anything that emanates from their official noxious organ?
Breivik the Norwegian psycho who went on a mass killing spree back in 2011 had loads of things to say in justification of his dastardly deed as so do most self-righteous nuts, but all this Holmes rat can do in his own defense is drool and babble ..sorta reminiscence of Sirhan Sirhan actions immediately after the murder of Bobby Kennedy. …just sayin’.

    http://voxday.blogspot.com/2012/07/backfire.html
But here is a serious point. Since Holmes isn’t talking and appears to be in a massively drug-addled state, how can anyone be certain that he was the shooter? No one saw him in the mask except perhaps the policeman who captured him, and it seems to me that drugging up a patsy dressed in SWAT gear, then sticking a smoking gun in his hands as soon as your colleague comes out the door and hops in the squad car would be trivially easy in all the darkness and confusion.

I’m not saying this scenario is likely, merely pointing out that it would be plausible in the absence of a coherent confession or blood matching the DNA of the victims all over Holmes’s clothing. After seeing that video of Holmes at the arraignment, hearing of his unintelligible rambling on his voice message makes me wonder how functional this highly intelligent individual was last weekend. And speaking as one who read the Unabomber’s manifesto because no one at the Pioneer Press could make heads or tales of it as well as a volume of Stalin’s works, I can attest that most intelligent individuals who turn murderous are not only willing to talk, they won’t shut up about their endless justifications for their actions.

Only law-abiding armed citizens can prevent more Auroras

The liberals trying to exploit this tragedy should realise it makes as much sense to ‘control’ movies like Batman as gun ownership

    Tammy Bruce

After the horrific mass murder at the Batman movie launch in Aurora, Colorado early Friday morning, Americans were once again unable to grieve without being pounced on by politicians and liberals seeking to politicize the tragedy for their own political gain. As we are praying for the victims and the families, some of us had to counter the shameless first instinct of liberals to politicize the tragedy.

What was some of the first “reporting” by the news media? In a now infamous act by ABC’s Brian Ross, he got political. Instead of focusing on the extraordinary stories of heroism by first responders, the efforts by churchgoers who, in another theatre, rushed out to carry victims to safety and minister to those who were targeted by a psychopathic stranger, Ross decided this obscene event would be a great opportunity to confer blame on the Tea Party.

While ABC was the only network to go that far (they have since apologized), President Obama was declaring that there would be “other days for politics”, yet almost immediately, his spokesman at the White House took the advice of Obama guru Rahm Emanuel and decided to “not let a good crisis go to waste” by announcing a commitment to further gun control.

These liberal zealots have no shame – as they know that there was only one thing that could have stopped the carnage in that theatre: an armed, law-abiding citizenry. In fact, armed Coloradans have already proven how they save lives. In 2007, the mass shooting in Colorado Springs at New Life Church stopped only when churchgoer and concealed-weapon carrier Jeanne Assam shot and killed the suspect, ultimately saving hundreds of lives.

Oh, I know: the calls still ring out for “banning” guns, because, after all, if guns are banned, there will be no gun violence and no need for citizen heroes like Ms Assam. Tell that to the people of Chicago enjoying the bliss of what happens in a city where guns are “banned”. They’re banned, of course, only for the law-abiding. Gangs and other criminal lowlife simply see gun laws as open season on the innocent.

Just last month, a seven-year-old girl became the 20th person under age 17 killed by gunfire in Chicago this year. Ask the parents of these children how “gun-free Chicago” is working out for them.

For those in Europe, there was utter confusion among everyone in Norway after the 2011 massacre on the island of Utøya. A nation with some of the toughest gun laws in the world didn’t stop Breivik from carrying out his slaughter, but it did prevent his law-abiding, innocent victims from being able to shoot back.

Everyone on Utøya could likely have been trusted with a firearm. The one person who couldn’t broke the law and acted.

We are learning more about the mass killer at the Batman movie launch. When subdued by heavily-armed police (because you need a gun to confront a maniac like that) he told them he was the “Joker” from Batman.

To highlight the absurdity of continuing to focus on objects instead of on the individual responsible for acts of violence, I suggested on Twitter that we should consider “movie control” to stop these sorts of acts. After all, violent movies glamorize guns and mass slaughter these days, shouldn’t we control content? A psychopath is inspired by something before he picks up that gun, shouldn’t we be focusing on that?

I made some liberals cry and spit (understandably so) with this suggestion. As with other items the well-meaning tried banning (books, booze …), we now commit to trusting family and the community to counter negative and violent imagery in media.

Likewise, millions upon millions of Americans who own firearms or will become owners, also will not become mass murderers, and, in fact, gain the capacity to defend themselves and the lives of others.

We all want this insane violence exacted in Aurora, and Chicago, and Norway to stop, and one way we can begin to turn the tide is allowing law-abiding citizens to defend themselves with the ultimate equalizer – a firearm – and end this madness of blaming inanimate objects for the actions of individuals.
