In shocking developments from the Middle East, it seems the ragheads don’t actually love us. After propping up evil dictators for decades in countries across the Middle East with hundreds of billions in aid and weapons, our fake support for their overthrow seems to have backfired. The CIA and Ron Paul refer to this as BLOWBACK. When a country meddles in the affairs of other countries and attempts to control the people of that country through their use of military power, the people of that country tend not to appreciate our form of benevolent democracy. Does anyone know who the good guys and bad guys are in Egypt, Libya, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan or Pakistan? If you say you do, then you are lying. The entire Middle East is a giant clusterfuck sitting on top of OUR OIL. It’s a powder keg of hate, religious extremism, dictators, weapons, and American meddling. We’ve been fucking with these people since the 1950s. Now we are getting the blowback. The non-thinking masses will be easily convinced that we must attack someone to restore order. Nothing like starting World War III in the midst of a Greater Depression as we add $3.8 billion per day to the National Debt. I’m sure the rising food prices and food shortages that have already begun will calm the masses in the Middle East.
Blow back is a bitch.
Clashes intensify near US embassy in Cairo |

Demonstrators angry over anti-Muslim video hurl stones at police, as US braces for more protests after Friday prayers.
|
Protesters in Egypt, angry at a video they say insults Prophet Mohammad, have hurled stones on a police force that prevented them from marching towards the US embassy in Cairo.
On Friday, police in riot gear fired tear gas and threw stones back at the demonstrators. A burnt-out car was overturned in the middle of the street that leads to the fortified embassy from Tahrir Square.
Police had tried to clear the Square on Friday ahead of a nationwide protest called by the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s most influential group. The Brotherhood propelled President Mohamed Mursi to power after popular protests that toppled president Hosni Mubarak last year and ushered in the first democratic elections in decades.
Shortly after police cleared Tahrir, however, the demonstrators returned.
The Egyptian authorities had erected large concrete barriers to block the route to the embassy.
“Before the police, we were attacked by Obama,” shouted one demonstrator, blaming US President Barack Obama and the US government for insulting the Prophet.
One banner held aloft by demonstrators read: “It is the duty of all Muslims and Christians to kill Morris Sadek and Sam Bacile and everyone who participated in the film.”
Several demonstrators waved green and black flags with Islamic verses on them.
Protests feared
US anticipated more protests after Friday prayers amid wave of violent demonstrations over anti-Muslim video that has spanned several countries.
The White House said on Thursday that it was prepared for more protests, but stressed that any violence would be unjustified.
“It is important to note that as these protests are taking place in different countries around the world, responding to the movie, that Friday, tomorrow, has historically been a day when there are protests in the Muslim world,” Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, told reporters in Colorado.
“And we are watching very closely for developments that could lead to more protests. We anticipate that they may continue.”
The US has put all of its diplomatic missions overseas on high alert after violent protests raged in parts of the Muslim world particularly Middle East and North Africa.
Protests have also spread to the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, as well as Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and the Gaza Strip. And there have been demonstrations in Sudan and Tunisia.
‘Provoke rage’
On Thursday, Hillary Rodham Clinton, the US secretary of state, delivered an explicit denunciation of the video.
“The United States government had absolutely nothing to do with this video,” she said before a meeting with the foreign minister of Morocco at the State Department. “We absolutely reject its content and message.”
“To us, to me personally, this video is disgusting and reprehensible,” Clinton said. “It appears to have a deeply cynical purpose: to denigrate a great religion and to provoke rage.”
However, Clinton stressed that no matter how offensive it was, the film could not be used as an excuse for violence like that seen in Egypt and in Yemen, where demonstrators tried to storm the embassy compound in Sanaa on Thursday.
Egypt’s ruling Muslim Brotherhood has called for demonstrations after Friday prayers, as did authorities in Iran and the Gaza strip.
At least four people were killed in protests in the Yemeni capital.
There is no justification, none at all, for responding to this video with violence,” Clinton said.
“We condemn the violence that has resulted in the strongest terms. … It is especially wrong for violence to be directed against diplomatic missions. These are places whose very purpose is peaceful: to promote better understanding across countries and cultures.”
She then reminded foreign governments that they have a responsibility to protect embassies as the US embassy in Cairo remained under siege.
Obama vows
On Tuesday, angry demonstrations raided US embassy in Benghazi in which at least 14 people were killed, including the US ambassador Chris Stevens.
US officials said they suspected that the attack at the Benghazi consulate, which had also been the target of an unsuccessful attack in June, may have been only tangentially related to the film.

They also stressed there had been no advance warning or intelligence to suggest a threat in Libya that would warrant boosting security, even on the 11th anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001.
“As we did with all of our missions overseas, in advance of the September 11 anniversary and as we do every year, we did evaluate the threat stream and we determined that the security at Benghazi was appropriate for what we knew,” Victoria Nuland, a State Department spokeswoman, said.
President Barack Obama also pledged that the perpetrators would be punished.
“To all those who would do us harm: No act of terror will go unpunished. I will not dim the light of the values that we proudly present to the rest of the world. No act of violence shakes the resolve of the United States of America.”
Libyan officials have arrested an unspecified number of people suspected of taking part in the attack and they were closely monitoring others to see whether they are linked to a group.
Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general, on Thursday denounced the violence, and also the provocative video.
“Nothing justifies such killings and attacks,” Ban said in a statement, adding that he condemns “the hateful film that appears to have been deliberately designed to sow bigotry and bloodshed”.

THIS FUCKER’S GONNA BLOW ! Another article about the FOURTH TURNING was just posted here on TBP a week or so ago – what will the near future unfold with ? I have an idea of the shit storm just now rolling in towards us on the horizon. It is just visible now, although we have been expecting it for years now. What is visible is just the ‘tip of the iceberg’ of the mayhem to follow. It will hit the world like cell phones did – just a few people had them at first and then almost everyone had a cell phone. just over the horizon is massive and violent riots all over the globe from the 99% of the population that is totally sick and tired of things the way they are now. People with no money, no food and nothing left to lose will not give a fuck about their safety as they burn and stomp and pillage everything in their path that is associated with people that have more than they do. For all too many it will be a mtter of basic survival. More lead – more gold and silver and non-perishible foods !

I haven’t read one instance in the mainstream media that connects our coup in Libya and the arming and supporting of the rebel groups with this week’s attack. We might actually conclude that America’s aggressive foreign policy is endangering us, not making us safer.

Hope@ZeroKelvin says:
This has nothing to do with blowback or with American presence in the ME “since the 1950s”. Muslims have been on the rampage since 700 AD. The Marines were dispatched to help contain the pirates of “Barbary” for fuck’s sake in the 1800s. Barbary Coast = Libya.
This has everything to do with: 1) Failure of Islamic governments to use their staggering oil wealth over the last 60 years to create stable and prosperous societies for their own people, despite considerable help from the US and others.
2) Failure of a people to escape poverty and ignorance when ruled by Sharia law, which effectively locks 50% of the population away, or sends them out to blow themselves up.
3) Failure of US foreign policy makers to realize that you cannot bring any kind of modernity or value for human life to people stuck in the 7th century – unless they WANT to change, which, despite all evidence to the contrary that their way of life is shit, they cling to, go figure.
4) Failure of America to protect her people and her interests, thus being weak and inviting attack. You don’t see this shit happening to Chinese or Russian embassies, do you? No, partly because these radicals are in cahoots with them and parthly cuz the Chicoms and Ruskies do not play nice.
Here’s part of what I posted on another thread:
“…there is a significant chunk of the Muslim world that will not tolerate any criticism of their Prophet or Religion, especially about how violent and intolerant it is. These folks then proceed to kill people and burn down buidlings and silence (kill) their critics – I guess proving that they ARE, in fact, violent and intolerant and, well, batshit moonbat crazy.
Homework assignment: Compare and contrast the American ideal of separation of church and state versus the incorporation of Sharia law in Islamic governments.
Bonus question #1: How many non-Catholics are allowed into the Vatican in Rome versus the number of non-Muslims allowed to see the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca?
Bonus question #2: Are non-Jews allowed to pray at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem?
When the Coptic Churches in Egypt burned in the Arab Spring, did American Copts go on a killing spree? No. They went to Church and prayed and organized relief for their fellow Copts being killed and dispossed of their property by the MB.
When the Joseph Smith play bashing Mormonism played on Broadway, did the Mormon Church come to NYC and storm the stage or burn it down or issue a fatwa against the actors or playwright? No.
When the Christian Churches in Iraq, some of which had been there for centuries, were completely destroyed in the past 10 years, did American Christians wholesale attack American mosques and start killing and burning and stoning Muslims? No.
There is a cancer in the ME, it is not the Jews or the Christians – it is radical Islam which is has been at war with the West, and the rest of the world, since 700 AD.
Radical Islam, thanks to the Apology/Appeasement/Asskissing policy of the (dhimmi) US foreign policy of the last 10 years, is on the verge of destabilizing the entire MENA. Europe is probably next with its large population of non-assimilated and poor Muslims, and then God help us, cuz THAT is what is gonna trigger WW3.”
It does not make a fiddly fart’s difference what we do or not do in MENA, radical Islam will hate us and attack us and kills us NO MATTER WHAT. Just like they attempt to do every other infidel that stands in the way of their goal of world domination.
So, while I love RP, he is absolutely wrong about this.

HZK details why the Middle East is fucked up, and then goes off the tracks with her ridiculous contention that the reason Americans are despised and attacked is because we are too weak in our presence in the Middle East. We’ve been fucking up their countries for decades by pumping billions into the hands of dictators and selling them the very weapons they are turning on us.
Who propped up Sadaam Hussein and then turned on him when he didn’t fall into line?
Who propped up Mubarak for decades as he tortured his citizens with secret police?
Who backed bin Laden when he was fighting the Soviet Union?
Who resumed relations with Gaddafi before he became bad again?
HZK has a common sense gene deficiency. They hate us because we have been occupying and fucking up their countries with our money and weapons for decades.
The reason they don’t attack the Chinese and the Russians is because those countries deal with them as trading partners. They don’t use their military to turn them into democracies.
HZK is so wrong on her ridiculous contention, it makes her look stupid.

Wow, now there is a great question. I visited with a big MStanley investment guru a few weeks ago about this same thing and didn’t really get any good answers, perhaps because he doesn’t see the cliff we do. If I knew how to do it, Switzerland, Brazil, Sweden. Shit, Zimbabwe might look good when the SHTF, I’m not sure what will be left standing here when the dust clears.
For now I am using Weiss to find the safest banks in the region. No return, but safe. You could use Treasuries for the time being. Safety, not worried about ROI. Too much risk.
The one bit of advise he gave me that I won’t forget is when this starts to roll over we will have time to react. We won’t wake up one day and it will all be gone. Only if we don’t react will it be gone.

Anti-US Protests Spread To India, Bangladesh, Indonesia
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/14/2012 11:11 -0400
Did we say Arab Fall? We meant global fall. From the Star Tribune: “Thousands of Kashmiri Muslims protested Friday against an anti-Islam film, burning U.S. flags and calling President Barack Obama a “terrorist,” while the top government cleric here reportedly demanded Americans leave the volatile Indian-controlled region immediately. In the southern Indian city of Chennai, protesters threw stones at the U.S. Consulate, shattering some windows and burning Obama in effigy. Police quickly cleared the area, arresting more than 100 protesters. U.S. Embassy officials in Delhi did not immediately comment.” And elsewhere: “In Bangladesh, about 5,000 hardline Muslims marched in Dhaka’s streets after Friday prayers, burning U.S. and Israeli flags and calling for the death of the filmmaker. Police prevented them from marching toward the U.S. Embassy several miles away.” And elsewhere: “In Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation, about 200 protesters chanted slogans and held up signs in a largely peaceful protest outside the heavily guarded U.S. Embassy in Jakarta. American diplomatic outposts increased security worldwide this week after clips of the film went viral online and sparked violent protests in the Middle East. About 20 protesters outside the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, shouted “Allahu akbar!” and handed reporters a letter addressed to the U.S. ambassador expressing their anger over the movie and calling for greater respect for religions.”
Many more coming, providing a convenient cover to launch a defensive strategy against the entire Muslim world. Or something like that.
It’s all under control though. 50 or so marines are on their way.
And let’s not forget the silver lining: Ben Bernanke will single-handedly “stimulate” the US economy, and this time not by diluting its currency, but by printing replacement US flags for all those being currently burned down in literally half the world, and rising.

So it baffles me that your logic is so goddamned illogical when it comes to how to deal with the Mooslim problem. Whatever enraged Mooslims in 700AD has ZERO to do with what enrages them today. Sure, the religion itself has not changed …. but EVERYTHING else has; borders, countries, politics, economics, …. everything. Why can’t you see that?
You correctly draw the dots … meaning, your premises are correct. The problem is connecting them … i.e. your conclusions. It’s like this;
Premise: The American Indian is disappearing.
Premise: Joe is an American Indian.
Conclusion: Joe is disappearing.
Correct premises …. incorrect conclusion.

@Admin: A little history lesson for ya’.
The major American involvement in MENA was to counter the ChiComs/Russkies as well as to secure those resources and aid in their development. Please note that the opening up of these resources, primarily oil, caused trillions of dollars over the years to flow into MENA. That almost ZERO OF THAT MONEY WENT TO IMPROVE THE LOT OF THE PEOPLE IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE US.
US involvement was done with the knowlege at the time that the leaders of these countries were less than savory. That was all there was to work with, since every single one of these countries was still stuck in the Stone Age technologically and the 7th Age culturally, to say nothing of the economic stagnation that results when Sharia Law is the law of the land. Remember the Ottoman Empire?
Was wealth distribution and societal development any better in countries aligned with the ChiComs/Russkies? No. Were dictators “propped” by ChiComs/Russkies all over the world? Yes. So it is not a purely American phenom.
So why are we so “hated” and our embassies attacked when other nation’s are not, even though they have engaged in the very same overt and covert actions?
#1) The ChiComs/Russians do not fuck around. You attack their stuff and not only you but your entire family is delivered back to your leaders in a shoe box.
#2) Radical Islam and Communism/Socialism share the same violent and totalitarian world view. They are, for the moment, marching together, one powered by relgious motives, the other by Statist ones. Both reject the Judeo-Christian world view, capitalism and Western Civlization in general. (Although both are perfectly willing to use what goodies West Civ produces when it comes to killing their enemies, heh.)
#3) American foreign policy is never constant and changes with the fucking political winds. People in MENA have cultures/countries that go back 5000 years and find that, well, disconcerting. So yeah, we support Saddam in the Iran/Iraq, he gets disgusted with us, invades Kuwait and we end up invading Iraq and hanging him. Creates a bit of a trust issue.
What you are seeing playing out is the fundamental rejection of West Civ, of which America is the face, by radical Islam, stirred and directed by the hidden hand of the ChiComs/Russians.
Should be out in the world nation building? Hell no – see Iraq. Should we ally with and support people that share our worldview? Hell yes – see Israel.
But what we should NEVER do is present a weak face to a world where most of it has barely emerged from the Stone Age.
Weakness invites attack, Strength deters it.

Do you just make shit up off the top of your head? The Chinese and Russians aren’t invading countries in the Middle East or Africa. They aren’t obliterating people with drones. They aren’t sending their navies off the coasts of sovereign nations and firing cruise missiles.
Your bullshit about weakness is just drivel. We’ve wasted $1.5 trillion on wars in the Middle East in the last ten years and sacrificed the lives of 6,000 Americans. What the fuck are you talking about when you talk about weakness?
You agree that we’re bankrupt, but you now want the U.S. to ramp up our presence overseas to defeat the Muslims. How much do you think that will cost?
Again with your bullshit about us being attacked. What Muslim country is on the verge of attacking us? You blather on about weakness. What is your solution? Bomb the living shit out of Muslim women and children? Just collateral damage – Right Hope?
Your argument is non-sensical and you make up your storyline as you go along.

DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “Hello Bibi, how are you?”
Netanyahu – “I was hoping to get more than a phone call at 3AM; after all you are meeting the Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian Prez in a few days.”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “I’m sorry for that, but my schedule is too busy. But I’m taking care you.”
Netanyahu – “Taking care, HOW? Iran will have nukes before Christmas, while nothing done up to now has worked.”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “We are doing all we can. But your comments are making me lose face. In fact, I can blame you for my ambassador getting raped and killed in Lybia tonight.”
Netanyahu – “Me??? We told you four months ago of what they were up to. How can you blame me for what you knew would happen months ahead of time?”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “All that is water under the bridge. But you know personally that if I lose face, the world becomes unsafe for YOU and me. By the way, you better call off your plans to bomb Iran’s targets, or else you will not have an IDF air force to protect you.”
Netanyahu – “What???”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “If you attack Iran BEFORE my re-election, I will be forced to order my planes to shoot down your entire IDF air force, and then you will end up with Iranian nukes, and without an air force to protect you.”
Netanyahu – “I hope you are aware that such a move would mean a second Jewish Holocaust.”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “Don’t exaggerate Bibi; you Jews always speak in hyperbole. You know as well as I, that I am better qualified to defend you than your IDF.”
Netanyahu – “Like when? When have YOU ever defended Israel from her enemies?”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “You don’t know all the requests I constantly get from your Mideast neighbors to help them invade you, and I have kept them back. I’m actually protecting you. By the way, I need $500 million in campaign contributions if you know what I mean…”
Netanyahu – “I do know what you mean. I am not Hugo Chavez though; so I can’t dispense with the money of Israeli taxpayers. But, I suggest you don’t try that line again. In fact, I suggest you keep your air assets from getting in our way, or else you may find out the hard way that I mean to protect Israel. This ends our chat, good night.”
DЭMOCЯAT Paяty Dэaя Lэadэя – “Don’t hang up please. What do you mean? Damn, he hung up!!!”

This Is Blowback
The YouTube video depicting Mohammed is nothing more than the straw that broke the camel’s back. This kind of violent uprising against American power and interests in the region has been a long time in the making. It is not just the continuation of drone strikes which often kill civilians in Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan, either. Nor is it the American invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. Nor is it the United States and the West’s support for various deeply unpopular regimes such as the monarchies in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia (and formerly Iran). Nor is it that America has long favoured Israel over the Arab states, condemning, invading and fomenting revolution in Muslim nations for the pursuit of nuclear weapons while turning a blind eye to Israel’s nuclear weapons and its continued expansion into the West Bank.
Mark LeVine, Professor of Middle Eastern history at U.C. Irvine, writes:
Americans and Europeans are no doubt looking at the protests over the “film”, recalling the even more violent protests during the Danish cartoon affair, and shaking their heads one more at the seeming irrationality and backwardness of Muslims, who would let a work of “art”, particularly one as trivial as this, drive them to mass protests and violence.
Yet Muslims in Egypt, Libya and around the world equally look at American actions, from sanctions against and then an invasion of Iraq that killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and sent the country back to the Stone Age, to unflinching support for Israel and all the Arab authoritarian regimes (secular and royal alike) and drone strikes that always seem to kill unintended civilians “by mistake”, and wonder with equal bewilderment how “we” can be so barbaric and uncivilised.
All of these things (and many more) have contributed to Muslim and Arab anger toward the United States and the West. Yet the underlying fact of all of these historical threads has been the United States’ oil-driven foreign policy. Very simply, the United States has for over half a century pursued a foreign policy in the region geared toward maintaining the flow of oil out of the region at any cost — even at the cost of inflaming the irrational and psychopathic religious elements that have long existed in the region.
This is not to defend the barbaric elements who resort to violence and aggression as a means of expressing their disappointment with U.S. foreign policy. It is merely to recognise that you do not stir the hornet’s nest and then expect not to get stung.
And the sad thing is that stirring the hornet’s nest is totally avoidable. There is plenty of oil and energy capacity in the world beyond the middle east. The United States is misallocating capital by spending time, resources, energy and manpower on occupying the middle east and playing world policeman. Every dollar taken out of the economy by the IRS to be spent drone striking the middle east into the stone age is a dollar of lost productivity for the private market. It is a dollar of productivity that the market could have been spent increasing American energy capacity and energy infrastructure in the United States — whether that is in oil, natural gas, solar, wind or hydroelectric.
And this effect can spiral; every dollar spent on arming and training bin Laden and his allies to fight the Soviet Union begot many more thousands of dollars of military spending when bin Laden’s mercenaries turned their firepower onto the United States, and the United States chose to spend over ten years and counting occupying Afghanistan (rightly known as the graveyard of empires). It is likely that the current uprisings will trigger even more U.S. interventionism in the region (indeed it already has as marines have already been dispatched to Yemen) costing billions or even trillions of dollars more money (especially if an invasion of Iran is the ultimate outcome). This in turn is likely to trigger even fiercer resistance to America from the Islamist elements, and so the spiral continues on.
The only way out of this money-sucking, resource-sucking, life-sucking trap that is very literally obliterating the American empire is to swallow pride and get out of the middle east, to stop misallocating American resources and productivity on unwinnable wars.
But neither major Presidential candidate is interested in such a policy. Perhaps it is because war is a great profit source for the military-industrial complex, the force to which both the Democratic and Republican parties are beholden?

Exactly: The world has changed and Islam has not. West Civ and Christianity has undergone many Reformations and and Enlightenment – and the people living under West Civ are all the better for it. Islam has not done that and the people living under Islamic governments remain as impoverished, illiterate and violent as people in 700 AD.
Apparently Muslims like living that way cuz they seem to fight awfully hard to keep doing so. American foreign policy makers just do not understand that fact so all attempts to impose democracy and Western Civ on them comes to naught but ruin and bankruptcy.

At this point the in the conversation neocon war mongers will typically play the “liberty” card. I’m not sure who’s liberty they are defending. Aside from the South Koreans no country on earth since WW2 has WANTED an American military presence within their borders.

@Admin: Did you even read what I wrote?
I am NOT in favor of ANY military action taken by this country in the last 15 years. I never said I was, why you think that I have no idea because I FUCKING NEVER SAID THAT.
I just do not think that the current MENA problems are SOLELY the result US actions of the last 15 years. I am making the argument that it is the end result of what has been going on since the Cold War as well as the seemingly ageless HISTORY OF ISLAMIC AGRESSION AGAINST THE WEST THAT DATES TO 700 AD. Those both are indisputable facts, BTW.
Why can’t you acknowlege that there is a problem with radical Islam?
I am NOT in favor of a huge military buildup at this time. I AM in favor of maintaining what we have and using it only when attacked – as well as a deterrent. I would also be seriously in favor of some serious nation building HERE AT HOME.
You don’t think the Russians are active in MENA? Where have you been? Russia, under Putin, is actively involved in the Insanian nuclear program for heaven’s sake and are actively backing the sadistic DICTATOR Assad for starters. Gee, another superpower backing a dictator, where have I seen that before. Through their allies, the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas/Hezbollan, Russia is actively working against US interests all over the region, for fuck’s sake. There are 20,000 Russian/Chinese missiles pointed at Israel as we speak.
The ChiComs are sending advisors all over the freaking world, buying up everything in sight as well as being bankers to the world. At the same time, ChiCom sponsored cyberwarfar, patent stealing, and industrial espionage proceeds apace. The ChiComs just kill your economy – which will eventually kill the people, heh. Gun wars versus trade wars, what’s the diff, really.
Yeah, there is a lot of blame to through our way, no question.

Um, the US’s hands aren’t exactly clean here. Your stance at times seems to be 100% contrary to points made within the same post.
In reality, you are being very consistent, we just have to define some differences.
Defend: Admin’s position is that defend means pulling back to our borders, and maintaining a strong navy to prevent foreign aggression (correct me if I’m wrong here please).
HZK’s position is that defend includes essentially any measure that will keep war away from America’s doorstep, whether its a policy of “the best defense is a good offense” or just setting up our own dictators to supplant ChiCom/Russian dictators.
Now to make my own point…
China and Russia are not the scary boogiemen people would have you believe. The only reason they can even begin to snub their noses at us is because we have almost completely squandered the economic advantage we had over both countries. Despite all that, its still not too late for America to rise from the ashes and put the rest of the world to shame.
All it takes is for the war mongering and sabre rattling to STOP, and for Americans to start investing in America. This means pulling back our ridiculous number of troops (how anyone can defend our military’s size is a mystery to me), taxing the FUCK out of foreign imports and shrinking the fucking IRS down until its one accountant and a fucking EXCEL FILE.
For fuck’s sake, how can you not see how fucking expensive a war is to run?

The Middle East is fucked up. That we agree on. I don’t really care about radical Islamists. They do not endanger this country in any way. They blow each other up in their own countries. There is nothing the United States of American can or should do to stop these people from killing themselves.
You ignore the fact that we have been exploiting the Middle East for OUR oil since the 1950s. All the bullshit about religion and hate is nothing but a cover for us keeping control of that oil. The master plan is backfiring and we will pay the price with $6 gas in the near future.
Every country on earth attempts to use their influence to gain an advantage on the world stage. Why shouldn’t the Russians and Chinese act in their own self interest? It’s OK for the U.S. to put troops in 100 countries around the world, but China and Russia shouldn’t be allowed to buy up resources?
Is it just the Chinese conducting cyberwarfare? The U.S. is the country unleashing computer viruses into the systems of other sovereign countries, but you are outraged when the same is done to us.
I do not believe we are the sole reason for unrest in the Middle East. I believe we should withdraw our troops, cut off all foreign aid to these countries (including Israel), and stop meddling in their political affairs. Empires bankrupt themselves trying to police the world. Our fleet of nuclear submarines alone can function as a deterrent to any attack on the U.S.

Further, I say: No more fucking around in other countries UNLESS they have attacked our country – and even then, just bomb the living crap out of them. Maintain a strong military as a deterrence and don’t be afraid to use it IF ATTACKED but NO pre-emptive stuff. That includes a strike on the Insanians nuclear program, in case you didn’t get it the first 1000 times I said that.
And, once again, NO FOREIGN AID FOR THE PURPOSES OF FOSTERING DEMOCRACY OR COUNTERING COMMUNISM.
I am not ignoring the fact that the US does not have “clean hands” here and that our actions since the 1950s have been less than honorable, nor would I say that has nothing to do with the current unrest, come on, do you think I am that blind? (don’t answer). I am also very aware, Stucky, that we screw around with these people way too much and should just GTFO except for commercial ventures.
I’m just saying that there are a LOT of reaons for unrest in MENA BESIDES our actions. We get attacked because of what we’ve said here, plus since Viet Nam, we are a nation of pussies.
I also do not agree with the word “exploit” the ME oil. That implies that there was NO wealth generated for the host country – there has, it just has stayed in the hands of the rulers and very little benefit has trickled down to the average Mohammad.
You are very mistaken if you don’t think that radical Islam has never attacked the US or its interests – it started with the Barbary Pirates and continues to this day – that was almost before the US was a country and before oil became a problem, just sayin’.

It looks like we are 95% in agreement. I have no doubt that radical islamists want to hurt the U.S. and may attack again, but they have no ability to permanently do damage to a country of 315 million people. They killed 3,000 people in NYC in the most spectacular attack in history. We have reacted by self inflicting a $10 trillion wound on ourselves. We should have gone into Afghanistan with guns ablazing and obliterated Tora Bora and killed bin Laden in 2002. Then we should have withdrawn and warned everyone not to fuck with us again.

Why do they always resort to this kind of behaviour, not just in MENA but in Europe, Indonesia, China, Russia, gee, just about every place but in America, so far.

Can we PLEASE stop with the qualifier “radical” Islam?!!
It is redundant. As if there are just some radicals, and the rest are moderate. Bullshit. It’s the exact opposite.
Are all radical Muslims violent? No. Are 95% of Muslims radical? Yes. To deny this means you don’t understand Islam. Here is why Islam is radical: They do NOT; — 1)TOLERATE QUESTIONING THEIR FAITH and, 2) CONFRONT THEIR IMAMS
Why do you think there are hundreds of different Christian churches? It’s because one group decides “this belief is wrong” and they break off and become Lutherans. Or, Episcopalians. Or, Presbyterians. Or, Mennonites. And so on, and so on. Even with a group, the people can confront their pastor, and if they don’t like the results, form another group — for example, the many versions of Baptists.
There is none of that with Islam. 98% (or so) consists of just two groups; Sunni and Shia …. And they formed hundreds of years ago. What does that tell you? That there is NO MIDDLE GROUND. You have two choices; all in, or all out. The people cannot question anything, ever. They cannot even question their Imam, certainly never their fatwa. STFU and follow orders. If that’s not the very definition of ‘radical’, I don’t know what is.
What the media considers “moderate” Muslims …. is merely a radical Muslim who has yet to pick up a gun. Fact is, most won’t. But that doesn’t make them any less radical than those who do.

The Obama Administration Pressures YouTube to Remove Video
Jesse Walker|Sep. 14, 2012 1:19 pm
This is what contempt for the First Amendment looks like:
Obama administration officials said Thursday that they have asked YouTube to review the video [that reportedly set off the embassy attacks] and determine whether it violates the site’s terms of service, according to people close to the situation but not authorized to comment.
The primary reason to be appalled: The government has no business pressuring a website to take down this video.
A secondary reason: They’re probably barking up the wrong tree anyway. There’s a strong possibility that the video was just a pretext for the attacks, much as it pains the administration to admit it.
A tertiary reason: Remember how tech-savvy this White House was supposed to be? And now they think they can choke this off at the source?

Are they backward? I suppose. Haven’t spent any time there. Personally, I think Americans are some of the most backward and fanatical people on the planet. The average American gets psyched for these wars, no matter how transparent the bullshit pretext. And if you even try to present them evidence as to the true nature of our reality, they get emotional and hostile, go into complete denial, etc.
Are muslim hordes coming to get us? I’m not too worried. Not saying I think the northern Euro countries are wise for letting so many in.
What makes you so certain they’re crazy and that they would aggress against someone with a nuke? I’d love to see fewer nukes in the world, but we need a reasonable process for getting there, not the US dictating who gets them, who doesn’t, and regularly invading countries for good measure just so everybody will want one.
The last 2-3 centuries has been dominated by the Anglo-American Empire (now presumably in rapid decline). WE’RE the ones who’ve been doing the most conquering and pillaging. I have a hard time getting worked up about the 7th century, or even the 14th.
Human nature is what it is, and produces a lot of shitty people everywhere. Russians, arabs, chinese, americans, whatever.

Yeah, it is their society and their choices – except when they want to impose them on us and behave this way in our country.
Do they want to impose them on us? I can only take them at their word. They talk about it all the time. Every place they come into power turns into an Islamic theocracy (note Iran and soon Iraq).
I’m sorry, GJH, there is no way you can say Americans are as backward as some of the Muslim countries and cultures. As far as I know, we do not perform cliterotomies on girls, use “dancing” boys as stand-in little girl sex toys, prohibit girls from reading or use a smooth stone to wipe our asses. As just a few of the backward practices of many of these countries.
I guess I also missed the memo on the stoning of women accused of adultery, severing the limbs of thieves, human slavery/trafficking, honor killings and gang rape as a way of punishing wayward females and cutting the heads of people who disagree with you.
As to getting fairly illiterate and uninformed people psyched up for a war, sorry, but the Muslims have the average American beat on that also. You do NOT see hordes of Americans storming mosques or killing their Muslim neighbors in revenge for the killing of our people in the Libya and the destruction of our property all over the world. So just how psyched up for war are we, really?
You are trying to say there is some moral equivalence between Western Civ and the Muslim world and there just is not, sorry.
I’ll answer my two bonus questions and you can think about who is, or is not, the most tolerant:
#1) Any non-Catholic can walk into the Vatican but ZERO infidels are allowed at Mecca, ZERO.
#2) Any person can pray at the Wailing Wall in Jersulem, even Muslims.
There ya’ go.

Cicero: “Qui Bobo?” That’s what we should ask. I expect that the only ones to benefit from this, and from what comes after, are al Queda and Israel (or, more specifically, the Likud Party). I rarely find reason to say good things about the President, but his being ‘too busy’ to see his Israeli counterpart was one of those. These attacks would seem to be the kind of coordinated effort that could drag us into war. The perpetrators ought to be punished, a la the Pancho Villa expedition, which involved taking out the bad guys without going to war with Mexico. The powers behind the movie, the attacks, and the unrelenting pressure to ‘do something’ about Iran ought to be exposed, as well, and we ought to reform out laws to get non-US money and influence out of our politics.
While I believe the above is what should happen, it is not what I think will take place. We’ll stumble into yet more wars, with more terror incidents, more ‘homeland security’ and less freedom, real security and prosperity as a result.

Did he say what the cliff edge looked like? Does the cactus growth stop about a 100 yards before the cliff?
What kind of reaction time will be sufficient to do a broady on the edge and blast off into the sunset in the opposite direction..
Does this cliff edge face North or South? (mostly unimportant , but asked as a favor to SSS).
What indicators are you monitoring to give you the sense of running time in order to avoid the horizon dissapearing above your sun visor?
Finally, does this guy benefit by you holding your positions in whatever market you talking about?

Zarathustra says:
HZK, I didn’t see anything pointed directly at moi, so I used my intuition discover that challenge.
You wrote, “Homework assignment: Compare and contrast the American ideal of separation of church and state versus the incorporation of Sharia law in Islamic governments.
Bonus question #1: How many non-Catholics are allowed into the Vatican in Rome versus the number of non-Muslims allowed to see the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca?
Bonus question #2: Are non-Jews allowed to pray at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem?”
As for the first statement, this surprises me coming from a supposedly well-traveled person such as yourself. If you spend any time in the Islamic world (which isn’t really safe for americans’ these days in most countries after two and a half decades of fighting Israels wars and bringing them freedom and democracy), you would discover an interesting irony. In muslim countries that are ruled by secular governments, you tend to see a lot of genuine muslim faith. Egypt, Turkey and Morocco come to mind. I’ve never been to Syria or Iraq but I suspect the same thing occurs there too. Then you visit a country ruled by “sharia law” such as Iran or Saudi Arabia (never been there, just guessing), and you find a lot of lip service to religion but otherwise people just going through the motions.
I think it’s the preachers kid syndrome. If you were a christian fundamentalist and found the power to shove your views down everyone’s throat with the force of law, I doubt it would encourage much genuine spiritualism.
Bonus Question #1, “: How many non-Catholics are allowed into the Vatican in Rome versus the number of non-Muslims allowed to see the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca?”
Why the fuck would I want to go to Mecca? Many mosques are open to non-believers but all you see is male ass when they pray, plus a long, boring sermon that I wouldn’t even understand since I don’t speak arabic. Fuck that. It’s also true that the tile work of some of the more lavish mosques is very impressive, St. Peter’s basilica blows them all away. Just my opinion.
Bonus question #2: “Are non-Jews allowed to pray at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem?”
If I could get away with it, I would take a hammer and chisel and scribe, “fuck Israel, get out of my country” into the wailing wall. I think they’d get the message.

This newest outbreak Islamic rage and murderous activity got me to thinking. Since it’s got the good old boys and everyone else all stirred up how can I make some cash off this. ………………Crusader stuff !
I decided to build two Crusader gun cabinets. Steely satin gray with white door panels on the lower section the the red Templar type crusader cross inset in each door. The top trim will have a carved out black band about 3 inches wide with a raised 2 1/2 inch white skull and cross bones alternating with a red painted cross accented by two thin white bands. The interior will be white with red felt for the barrel and stock rests. The handles for both sets of doors are are a bright brass and they will be warped in the centers with wire like the sword handles. The hinge sets and locks are in the same bright brass. I can use paint grade cabinet wood for this as opposed to expensive hardwoods or exotics and I’ll price the them about 40% more than I would for something similar in oak and see what happens.

Perhaps the best course of action for America is to lower our profile in that region, bring most of our diplomats and troops home, and let these people work out their destiny themselves.
Second, given the costs and consequences of our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and intervention in Libya, let the Syrians settle their war themselves. There is no guarantee the fall of Bashar Assad, given the jihadist and al-Qaida presence in the forces seeking his overthrow, will be an improvement for the United States.
Third, the United States should tell the Egyptian government that its failure to provide security for our embassy was an outrage, that if we cannot see them as a friendly government with common interests, we will not hesitate to cut off aid and warn U.S. citizens not to travel to Egypt.
Without U.S. aid and Western loans and tourists, Egypt’s economy would sink with President Morsi in the wheelhouse. We must make it clear to them that, denied the respect our nation deserves, we are willing to pull the plug on his regime.
The Middle East appears to be undergoing a sectarian and tribal conflict not unlike our Thirty Years’ War from 1618 to 1648. As they stayed out of our Thirty Years’ War, let us get out of theirs.
If they will not protect our embassies from mobs who come to burn our flag, let us lower the flag ourselves and bring Old Glory home.

HZK “You are trying to say there is some moral equivalence between Western Civ and the Muslim world and there just is not, sorry.”
Equivalence? No. I have no idea how you would weight that. Them: cliterectomies, stonings, etc. Us: cluster bombs and depleted uranium etc. Both barbaric, just very different flavors.
You and I are coming at this from completely different angles. Clearly you have issues with all kinds of their practices. Okay. I wouldn’t enjoy living in a place like that either.
But what do you propose to do about it?
Me? Nothing. Cultures evolve in their own time and way. No way our bombing them accelerates their advancement. The opposite, rather.
“They want to impose them on us” — Seriously?? And we should worry about this? LMFAO
OUR bankers, and OUR business and political leaders, and our warmongers, have destroyed our economy and our republic. Those are the folks I’m thinking about.
“You do NOT see hordes of Americans storming mosques or killing their Muslim neighbors in revenge for the killing of our people in the Libya…”
We go trash Libya, the most prosperous country in Africa, turning it over to muslim fundamentalists, and this is your commentary?!?! We must have a serious difference in our understanding of what happened there.
“…and the destruction of our property all over the world. So just how psyched up for war are we, really?”
My God!!! The Brits started robbing their oil over a century ago, and we took over where they left off. We prop up nasty dictators all over the region. We toppled a progressive and loved gov’t in Iran in 1953. We fueled the war between Iraq and Iran in the 1980s. We destroyed Iraq from 1990-present. We back the Israelis unconditionally in dispossessing the Palestinians. Etc. And this is how you characterize the situation?
Psyched for war or not, who’s been bringing war to who for decades? There is absolutely no comparison to what the US has done in muslim countries and what they have done to us.
Clearly we’ve moved out of the realm of the rational on this topic.

If HZK really cared, she’d go be an ambassador of good will in the region, teaching them by example, rather than suggest that the problems there are somehow the result of the US being pussies, implying we haven’t killed enough people there.
HZK appears to be awake to the outrages occurring in our country, but to be ignorant of the history of American foreign policy. Or does she believe that the US can be an empire abroad, but a bastion of liberty at home?
Does she think that our leaders who are screwing us over haven’t done the same and worse to countless countries around the world?

One can say leave the Islams alone, close up the Military bases and stop fucking around all over the place. But take a look at our war, murder and imperialist oppression budget (Military Budget). How many millions upon millions of jobs are either directly or indirectly dependent on world wide strong arm operations. And most of them right here at home. There is much more at stake than having some people in harms way and having forces close to the oil.
Our economy without war would crater faster than the FED can devalue the currency. Military spending and FSA spending are the two biggest things that pump Ben’s Magic Inflating Dollars through the nations body. Americas heart quit pumping shortly after Bush and the republicans cluster fucked us after we had already been raped hard by every administration and congress since LBJ. Now Obama and his gang are humping the dead ass of America like necrophiliacs let loose in a morgue. We need the war machine for life support now. That’s why no President will shut down the war making. If He hasn’t figured it out before becoming President he figures it out his first day on the job when PTB representatives sit him down for a meeting and show how put his pants on.
The land of the Islams is a good place to stir up shit and business. One… it’s far way from here and two, they really can’t do a whole hell of a lot to us. The numbers dead in the World Trade Center Attack and those we have suffered since are miniscule compared to the body count we and our bloodthirsty Nazi friends in Israel have racked up in the area. And really nothing at all to banking -corporate PTB in view of the vast treasure that’s been had and the millions of piddling pay checks dolled out to dim witted Boobus Ameracanus that keep waving the flag and while they hand all their hard earned money right back to the borg that pays them. The vast majority of Americans either applaud killing Muslims, don’t give a shit or don’t even know whats going on. We can jack with the Islams to no end for profits and jobs without much public outcry and they are not that big of a threat no matter how much crap we hand them. The blowback is microscopic minimal compared to the cash flow.
The real enemy and real threat is China. But the Red Commie Bastards and their pals in Russia can and would fight back and do us some real damage. War with those guys would be WAR and not a perpetual profit center and racketeering operation like we run in the MENA and other points around the globe.
The Islams who live here have not made too much noise because they know if they get radical on the streets the local skinhead KKK redneck brotherhood will burn their mosques, rape their women and toast their children over the BBQ while the laws eat donuts and their neighbors watch reality TV to see who’ going fuck Snooky next or who gets humiliated on stage in front of millions.
As far as Arabs, Persians and various Islamic people they seem just as wonderful and just as fucked up as everyone else. I know many. Their ratio of morons to regular humans is about the same. The main difference I see is that they tend to eat in a much more healthy fashion and there not so many fat ones.
Another flair up in the MENA, Not a bad deal. More opportunity, more blood money and more ways to maintain our lifestyle here at home. A lifestyle that is dependent on turmoil, violence and military endeavors around the globe along with the vast supply of cheap goods we enjoy made by exploited, impoverish, half starved people in far away places. If you read my post on this thread earlier you will see that even a humble carpenter such as my self has devised a way to exploit this new episode of violence for some cash that probably wouldn’t be flowing if it wasn’t for the Global Imperial Perpetual War Machine. We are all part of it. Probably half of every dollar in our pockets has blood on it.
It’s all just bits and pieces of DOOM. Embrace it, lay down and die or find another planet to live on.

The military besides being a war machine is also a means to provide welfare to the MIC and hundreds of thousands of otherwise jobless Americans.
Indoctrinating teenage kids to believe that murder is OK as long as committed in the name of the state will have dire repercussions in the even of a US dollar collapse.
The most dangerous animal on earth is a19 year old unemployed male in a de-industrialized wasteland, which as you say, is likely one of the reasons that the thugacracy keeps the heat on in MENA.
War for jobs …has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
As afar as China goes, Napoleon once summed it all up nicely by pointing to China on a map and quipping “here lies a sleeping lion, let him sleep, for when he wakes up, he will shock the world.”
Taking into account the trillions of US dollars that have poured into China building everything from shiny new infrastructure to war waging apparatus, not to mention the mountains of gold being stockpiled, the sleeping lion is awake and on the prowl.
The explosive growth of China could not have been achieved without full access to limited sources of natural commodities ,also being sought by other international powers.
Nothing good can come from numerous nations bristling at the teeth with high -tech WMDs , all vying for a limited amount of resources.
This should be clear by the proxy wars that are heating up in the MENA region.
