The Final Cut is Pink Floyd’s masterpiece written on the subject of war. It was heavily influenced by Roger Waters, and is filled with his lyrical, haunting, simple, gorgeous melodies. The music is deeply evocative, emotive, and has profound pathos, telling of the horrors of war and what is does both to humanity and to individuals. This is the full album. On the eve of what might be WWIII, this is worth a listen.

Despite the fact that I think Roger Waters is a whiny little bitch, this is one of my favorite Floyd albums. Actually I love all of their albums. The only way to really listen to it is with headphones. Many passages are very quiet and difficult to make out if you have the speaker volume set to not piss off your neighbors! I’m glad they finally put Tigers on this album although it was intended to be on The Wall.

Just then the phone rang. I never had the nerve to make the final cut. Tears me up inside no matter how many times I hear it.
