See what the bankers of the world have wrought. Know your enemy.
I may have to have a new feature on TBP called SELF-IMMOLATION OF THE DAY.
Man Self-Immolates In Front Of Rome’s Presidential Palace
Submitted by Tyler Durdenon 10/18/2012 14:58 -0400
Over the weekend it was not some disenchanted and long-suffering Greek, nor Irishman, nor even a Spaniard, but a German who burned and stabbed himself to death in front of the Reichstag in broad daylight. Moments ago, yet another country which has so far had been spared ritualistic (attempted) suicides, joined the ranks of places where people would rather take their lives than live under the oppressive European depression, when a 55 year man of Romanian origin and father of six, currently living in Pinerolo in Piedmont, set himself on fire in from the presidential palace in Rome, the Quirinale. As Repubblica reports, he was protesting the economic conditions and the lack of job opportunities. It appears that whereas Europe may be “saved” and PIIGS bonds are being bought for the time being, the monetary transmission mechanism is still certainly clogged up and the central bank’s record liquidity is neither reaching the ordinary citizens of Europe nor, most certainly, the most political square in Rome.
Earlier today in Rome:
From Modenaonline:
Behind the act there would be family problems, but above all economic. The act seems to have been exacerbated by not being able to provide for his family even the bare necessirites due to extended unemployed. The man has burns on 50% of his body and was unconscious when he was taken away. The scene is consumed in front of stunned tourists: the man doused himself with alcohol and used a lighter to light the flames.
Also when we said this is the first case of self-immolation in Rome we were wrong:
On 11 August a worker of 54 years, a native of Forli, set on fire in front of the Palace Montecitorio and was admitted to St. Eugene with burns on 85% of the body. The Widower, had lost his job for two months and had not yet managed to find another job. The worker died after eight days of suffering.
Sadly for a nation, and a continent, which despite all the endless lies in the media, is getting more and more desperate, and where 25% official unemployment (so 50% unofficial) is the norm, this is just the beginning.

Muck About says:
Sorry, I am not impressed. A self-imolation is just a suicide by another name. Suicide is, unless planned and accompanied by understanding family and those closest to you, a cowardly, despicable and lonely act and the ultimate running away escape.
WTF good did that act do his family who are still destitute? How has he improved their lot in life which was his responsibility? If he was fleeing a terminal, painful disease that will kill him any way in a month or two, there are so many better ways to do it that include telling your family good by, setting things straight as far as your poverty stricken affairs can be set and generally dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.
This man was desperate out of his mind, likely thinking only of himself and his despair, has forgotten or discarded his responsibilities and taken the easy (and highly painful) way out.
No glory for him – except by the ignorant masses who never think farther than the end of their lunch break. Too bad – I would have liked to talk to him and see if something could have been done to relieve the pain and help him out.
RIP when he does die..

I’m not going to say Muck is wrong, but I do disagree with him.
Suicide is the noble and honorable thing to do in some cultures, such as Japan. Prohibitions against it is a Western construct, no doubt heavily influenced by Judeo-Christian values.
Each person has a breaking point whereby they can only take so much (pain, loss, grief .. whatever), but no more. Far be it for me to sit in judgment of someone’s decision to take the final solution. I can only walk in my own shoes, not his.
I am sad for him and his family.

Austerity programs will not create jobs or an economic boom. It will only extract wealth from the country and people will starve, rob, kill to survive, prostitute themselves or possibly commit suicide

A father of six.
Shit.
Can’t help but wonder what the thought process was that led him to do something like that. I’m guessing he felt pretty helpless….and very, very angry. And that he wasn’t much good to his six kids with no job and no prospects….but I don’t know.
The people I have known who committed suicide…and I’ve know two personally…I’m still so mad at them I’d like to bring them back just so I could kick the shit out their stupid asses. They did more damage to other people than they ever could have imagined. Suicide is about the most selfish, thoughtless behavior there is…at least for a healthy person.
If you’re sick and hurting and gonna die regardless, well, that’s very different. Dr. Kevorkian was one of my heroes. I even wrote to him before he died and told him so. I never heard back, but I’m glad I did it.
We may see a lot more of these,I’m thinking.

All I want to know, is did the blaze last long enough to cook a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza?
