This isn’t an article from some Muslim newspaper. It is from an Israeli newspaper. I love how they refer to starting a nuclear war as a change in tactics. Israel will attack Iran at some point. The United States will be drawn into the conflict, whether we like it or not. China and Russia will work behind the scenes to make sure the U.S. and Israel fail. Then all hell will break loose. We’ll be longing for the days of $3.50 per gallon gasoline. I’m sure that American energy independence is right around the corner.

Report: Israel forced to change Iran strike tactics

‘Sunday Times’ report says Iran’s nuke site hidden safe from conventional airstrikes; Israel left with nuclear, ground options.

Israeli military experts have concluded that a conventional strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities may fail, and have been forced to change their plans accordingly, The Sunday Times reported Sunday, quoting Western intelligence and defense sources.

“Israel’s plans have been constantly evolving in recent years according to the progress Iran is making,” The Sunday Times quoted a senior defense source as saying.

The Jerusalem Post could not confirm the veracity of this report.

According to The Sunday Times, Western defense experts discovered Iran’s Fordow nuclear site is hidden deeper underground than previously thought and therefore safe from conventional air strikes.

The Sunday Times report, quoting Western defense experts, added that due to the “upgraded” progress of Iranian enrichment, Israel has to change its tactics to prevent a loss of up to 20 percent of its planes in a conventional air strike.

Defense experts claim Israel have two options, either deploy special forces on the ground, or use ballistic missiles with tactical nuclear warheads, the British paper reported.

The report follows a Channel 2 investigation that discovered Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered the IDF to raise its alert level ahead of a possible attack in 2010.

During a meeting of select senior ministers, Netanyahu allegedly ordered the IDF to raise its state of alert to “Pplus,” reserved for an imminent state of war, according to the report.

Then-IDF chief of staff Lt.- Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi and then-Mossad chief Meir Dagan considered the order “illegal” and resisted it.

Among the arguments used most against a solo Israeli attack is an argument voiced by Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. He said that an Israeli attack could not take out the Iranian program.

However, setting Iran’s nuclear plans back a few years to buy time for regime change or other unforeseen developments would be good in its own right, even if Israel cannot completely take out Iran’s nuclear program, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said recently, the Post learned.

Netanyahu, in private meetings, repeated a number of times that before Israel’s 1981 attack on Iraq’s Osirak nuclear reactor, the Mossad and Military Intelligence were opposed because they thought the best that could be done was to delay the program for a couple of years.

Barak – who has emerged as the most bellicose minister regarding Iran – told the Knesset, “I believe that it is inestimably more complicated, inestimably more dangerous, inestimably more complex, and inestimably more expensive in terms of human life and resources to deal with a nuclear Iran in the future.”

“There is a forum of nine [ministers], there is a security cabinet, and when a decision needs to be made [on an Iran strike] it will be taken by the Israeli government,” Barak added.

    3) SAH, and others, have no historical perspective. The Israelis live next to hundreds of millions who want them and their state eliminated. It has always been thus. Except now the Jews of Israel have two things they have never before had in their history (a couple of exceptions exist, but not many): 1) they have the will to fight (the loss of several million souls to the Nazis seems to have had an impct on their psyches – imagine that) – that has almost never before existed. They have been the quintessential turn the other cheek types, and have generally been totally non-warlike, and 2) they have considerable military strength for the first time ever.

    The Israelis take very seriously any threats against them – those threats have been turned into action against them many times throughout history, the last time only 70 years ago. They have a collective determination to fight, although each passing year sees a younger, less aggressive generation deveolping. The Israelis have only 2 cards to play – 1) they can use their military to promote what they see as their interests, or 2) they can manipulate the US and others to work on their behalf.

    I think SAHs characterization of the Jews was despicable and extraordinarily offensive. It was rooted not in any fact, but in a twisted reading/interpretation of the religious documents and rites I have no problem with her points about wanting to stay out of Israel’s affairs, nor her complaints about Israel trying to rouse support. However, her comments about Judaism in general were totally twisted, and there can be no doubt that she is extremely anti-semitic.

They have as a result become somewhat more sensitive to anyone that threatens them verbally or otherwise. I do not for an instant criticize them for that – they have good reason to feel persecuted – they have been for the entirity of their existence, and some of those making the threats indeed mean business. Nevertheless, it is not the problem of the US, although I would hate to see any nation’s people exterminated.

    KB – they have not left the US, for the most part. They arrived in the US as they were, once again, driven from where they were living. Your people left that sand heap over thousands of years, while the ancestors of the Palestinians stayed to herd their goats and live in tents. Then after WWII, you all decided to return and herd and slaughter the Palestinians like goats”. Man, that is all wrong. None of it is factual.

    Then of course is her “P.S. please bring the Jews in America back to the homeland of Israel. We are sick of their trash Hollywood movies, Wall St Criminalism, Federal Reserve Criminalism, ACLU bullshit.” What a raving anti-semite. The Jews are hated because they are successful. Imagine – just the excuse Hitler used. It really is disgusting.

    I do grant her point about staying the hell out of there. But she also ignores the fact that the US, France, and Britain bear a lot of responsibility for having set up the damn country in the first place. There needs to be an end to it, I grant, but when the US causes the shit it did, it has some responsibility to pick up after itself. It is indeed time to cut bait.

    All in all, it was one of the most despicable couple of comments ever made on the site. I am glad it was entertaining for the monkies, but it was nonetheless abhorrent.

    Napari – I am considering posting a brief piece on the history of Palestine/Israel. I could do it by memory, but I would be drawn and quarted for any small mistakes.

    Interestingly, it is extremely difficult to find a non-biased history of the area. I have never, and I mean never, seen so much conflicting info. That is because so much of the “history” is written by either pro-Palestinians or pro-Israelis. By and large, the Israeli stuff is more accurate, but it does tend to gloss over some of the not so pretty Haganah stuff, etc.
