IS SECESSION POSSIBLE?

This certainly came out of the blue. The liberal media is in full ridicule mode today about the secession petitions being circulated in 20 states. Liberal pundits never see change coming. They are “progressives” who think the world moves forward in a straight line. Fourth Turnings are a complete surprise to these nitwits. Even though the recent examples of the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia have happened within the last 20 years, they are blind to the possibility. Thomas Jefferson saw it clearly in 1816. When the ruling elite abscond with all the riches and leave the people to fight wars and die a slow death caused by man made inflation and debt, the end of the grand experiment is near.

Former President of the United States Thomas Jefferson, in a letter to William H. Crawford, Secretary of War under President James Madison, on June 20, 1816: “In your letter to Fisk, you have fairly stated the alternatives between which we are to choose : 1, licentious commerce and gambling speculations for a few, with eternal war for the many ; or, 2, restricted commerce, peace, and steady occupations for all. If any State in the Union will declare that it prefers separation with the first alternative, to a continuance in union without it, I have no hesitation in saying, ‘let us separate’. I would rather the States should withdraw, which are for unlimited commerce and war, and confederate with those alone which are for peace and agriculture.”

Secession petitions flood White House website

President Obama’s reelection last week has prompted a slew of requests to secede from the United States.

Using the Obama administration’s own We the People website, nearly two dozen petitions have sprung up asking the Obama administration for permission to withdraw from the Union.

The two most popular petitions, Texas and Louisiana, have both drawn more than 10,000 signatures each as of Monday morning. The Texas petition needs only 7,000 more signatures to trigger an official White House response.

None of the petitions explicitly cite Obama’s reelection as a reason for independence, but all were created after last week’s elections.

“The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the [National Defense Authorization Act], the [Transportation Security Administration], etc,” the Texas petition charges. “Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it’s citizens’ standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government.”

Others are more vague for in their reasons for wanting to leave the country.

“just like in 1860 the south secede from the union. 2012 the state of georgia would like to withdraw from the USA,” one of the Georgia petitions states.

Most of the petitions simply quote the Declaration of Independence in their request to depart the country.

As of Monday, residents of Kentucky, Oregon, Montana, North Dakota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Missouri have all expressed interest in dissolving their relationship with the United States.

Great stuff, and God bless ‘em. I can think of no better way to bring down the corrupt Federal government than to simply leave their sphere of influence, no more support of the parasitic cancer that the Feds have become.

I figured there’d be some type of backlash from the right, and it’s a brilliant stroke of genius. Egg in Obama’s face. My question is: why do they have to petition Obama? Don’t states have the right to decide for themselves, by voting maybe? The ObamaNation plantations would, of course, vote against secession, because it would end the free shit and welfare. It’s amazing, the offer of hope raises it face again. No more Federal taxes or the IRS, no Obamacare, it’s almost too good to be true. I’m moving to Texas. Maybe HZK can get me a job.

what a joke, asking permission to be freed from an aggressive owner. If you have to ask permission to be “free” then guess what you are a slave.
the next time a home invader is in your house, fill out a TPS report in triplicate on why they should please leave immediately.

if you want to secede, then do it, move to another country, live off the grid, refuse to vote, etc… but decide you are gong to be a sovereign citizen and do it on whatever level works for you. These dipshits are still stuck in the herd/groupthink mentality.
In all seriousness, don’t stupidly put your name on a list that will do nothing but get tucked away into the NDAA filing system for “processing” of undesirables at a later date.

Secession will not happen without a bloody fight. The global bankers (including the federal reserve banks) own this country and won’t let go.

These people submitting these petitions are in la la land if they think the United States is going to let that happen. Get real people. The only way out is a fight and the last ones to try were defeated. Remember the civil war?

And one more thing. The people own nothing. Everything is titled, property, automobiles, your children (birth certificate) even your bank account is not yours. You are already wards of the State. So give it up… and do what the government says.

Socialism: I have seen the future and ran away.

“At first the move to America from the former USSR made me feel as though I had made a jump in time, from the stagnant depraved past into a distant dynamic future.

There was an abundance of commonly available futuristic contraptions, machines, and appliances that made everyday existence easier and more enjoyable. Less obvious but just as exciting was the media’s openness: I no longer needed to read between the lines to know what was happening.

Most importantly, there was honesty, dignity, and respect in relations among people.

Today I’m feeling like a time traveler again.

Only this time the productive, honest and self-reliant America is vanishing in the past, as we are quickly approaching the all too familiar future.

It is the future of equal poverty, one-party rule, media mooching, government looting, bureaucratic corruption, rigged elections, underground literature, half-whispered jokes, and the useful habit of looking over your shoulder.”

The six contradictions of socialism in the United States of America

America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized.
Half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims.
They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government.
Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer.
The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Probably not unless the central government, ala the USSR, collapse first. Is a Texan really ready to walk away from his/her social security entitlement? Would Ireland dare to demand independence today if it meant something like a Troika squared program of austerity as it tried to start up from scratch the entire panoply of government programs that had been built up and run from London since the 1920′s?

I’m no fan of ‘big government’ but there are a host of legitimate government functions and agencies that would have be duplicated by the new government were it to become independent unless it could agree to a ‘deal’ that would leave the former imperial government in charge. Things like the FCC, FDA, Foreign Affairs and Defense. Worth noting I suppose the difficulty the British had in granting independence to its less advanced colonies even when it wanted rid of them and 50 years on they still have to some ‘residual’ responsibilities they must undertake to on behalf of places like Sierra Leone or Uganda.

Scotland is going to have a vote on this matter and what may sound appealling at first glance to the Scottish nationalist becomes a lot more complicated when they consider what real independence after 300 years of union would really involve.

It’s NEVER going to work. It might be a good peaceful protest, but I’m with harry, i would never sign it. It reminds me of the old Russian prediction though. You may want to look it up.

As if Things Weren’t Bad Enough, Russian Professor Predicts End of U.S.

MOSCOW — For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument — that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. — very seriously. Now he’s found an eager audience: Russian state media.

In recent weeks, he’s been interviewed as much as twice a day about his predictions. “It’s a record,” says Prof. Panarin. “But I think the attention is going to grow even stronger.”

Prof. Panarin, 50 years old, is not a fringe figure. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s academy for future diplomats. He is invited to Kremlin receptions, lectures students, publishes books, and appears in the media as an expert on U.S.-Russia relations.

But it’s his bleak forecast for the U.S. that is music to the ears of the Kremlin, which in recent years has blamed Washington for everything from instability in the Middle East to the global financial crisis. Mr. Panarin’s views also fit neatly with the Kremlin’s narrative that Russia is returning to its rightful place on the world stage after the weakness of the 1990s, when many feared that the country would go economically and politically bankrupt and break into separate territories.

i support the idea of seceding but each person should be doing it on their own, in their own way. If you secede from a coercive federal govt but replace it with a coercive texas govt you are no better off. it will still be a govt established by aggression, coercion and violence.

thinking you stand for freedom because you “sign a petition” like this utilizes the same stupid mentality that you “did you part’ and are “patriotic” because you voted.

if you want to be free and get out of the system, then actually do it, homeschool your kids, barter, but stay invisible. Don’t be a protruding nail when the big dumb hammer of govt comes looking to hit things.

the guv-thugs aren’t going to let anyone leave the party until the gig is up, especially a place like texas. the noo joisees and kali-fawna’s need those type of states to bleed them for revenue. It’s like trying to negotiate with a tapeworm. the only way a state can actually secede in the way people elude to here is when that state is more powerful militarily that the Feddies. That won’t happen until after the likely implosion. Strive to be a free individual and without realizing it you will be bringing about freedom for all.

There will be absolutely no seccession. The fed willl be on the states just like the were in the 1860′s. Abraham Lincoln pretty much answered the question of states rights. Your state has rights so long as the fed allows you to have rights.

I have often wondered if a state was able to pull off seccession, especially a westen state with large amounts of federal land, what would become of the federal lands. I can’t see the feds just saying “ok, it’s yours now.”

  31. Reverse Engineer says:

This is a Global phenomenon and will increase in scope over time here. Secessionary movements in Catalonia (Spain) and Scotland (UK) already are gaining traction. In both cases, these smaller States have been part of the bigger Union of their respective “Countries” longer than our states have been part of the FSofA.

The issue is that once the Union no longer provides tangible benefits to its constituent members and these members chafe under the Rule from Above, motivation increases to Seceed.

How secession will play out in any of these places remains an Open Question. In the case of the Soviet Union when it Collapsed, it did not set off an overt Civil War. On the other hand, it seems to be leading to Civil War in Spain. The Scottish secessionary movement out of the UK seems more Peacible at this point.

Far ad the FSofA is concerned, it really depends on how well the Center holds here. If the Dollar fails massively and rapidly, it is doubtful the Big Ass Military can hold together to prevent such a breakup of the One-to-the-Many. If secessionary movements gain traction BEFORE complete Dolar collapse, a much bigger Civil War type conflict seems likely.

I’ll probably write an article on this subject in the next week on the Diner.

Flip side – if the tank is all buttoned up, how easily can the tank crew (not the infantry that might be working with them) see one or two guys hidden in the rocks/bushes a couple hundred yards away?

@flash: I also did some Army time, and while I saw a tiny sliver of it, I will tell you that the Army is at the end of a VERY long and vulnerable supply line. It takes thousands of man and material to support 1 battle soldier. The resupply problem is ginormous under the “best” of conditions. Imagine their problems in a hot Civil War.

I think the Abrahms tank gets 0.5 MPG, it has a 500 gal tank, so a range of 200 miles. That is flat out running. MPG drops if the tank is doing battle manuvers which is a lot of starting/stopping.

    Here’s how Texas secedes:

    1) All tax revenues due the federal government are diverted to the newly made Bank of Texas. The BOT has a 1 dollar capital rule and is backed by gold. All Medicare/SS/Medicaid rate schedules stay the same and are paid out from the BOT, not DC. The Univ of Texas gets their gold back from the HSBC toot sweet.

    2) Texas raises a Militia of Texans, men & women, probably can get at least 1 million out of a population fo 22M. These work with the National Guard and Airforce in securing the oil/gas refineries and pipelines, the Strategic Oil Reserve, NASA, the Port of Houston, the nuclear plant, the electrical grid, and the major interstates. Martial law would have to be declared in the Blue counties to keep our FSA population in line.

    3) No EBT cards will be honored and no Section 8 housing will have water/power within 48 hours of the declaration. Buses to a job site or to one of the borders will be provided for these people. Looters/rioters will be shot on sight.

    4) All electrical transmission, all oil/gas pipelines are shut off at the western border of Texas, northern borders of OK/LA and the eastern border of LA. Service will only resume when new contracts are forged.

    5) The commanders of Ft. Hood, Sam Houston and Bliss are given the option to join with the Texans or be escorted to the border. Since about 50% or more of the troops at these bases come from Texas, they face either cooperating or mutiny. Either way it neutralizes them as a threat.

    6) The souther border will be sealed. Anyone attempting to cross illegally will be shot on sight. Illegal aliens will be given the chance to pay $20K and get a path to citizen ship (only for non-criminals) OR repatriate back to whereever they came from after liquidating all their property here an handing over 50% of the proceeds to the Bank of Texas.

    7) In the event the Port of Houston or Galveston are blockaded, Texas will send all exports through Mexico, forcing the fed.gov to blockade even another sovereign country.

    8) All federal properties in the Republic of Texas become our property, the workers are given a choice to stay and work as non-union civilian employees or be bused to the border (same treatment as the illegal aliens).

This is just off the top of my head, mind you, but I think I am on the right path.

Census: Hispanic Population In Texas Is Exploding

AUSTIN (February 17, 2011)–The Hispanic population in Texas is exploding, accounts for two-thirds of the state’s staggering growth since 2000 and makes up 38 percent of the state’s total population, census figures released Thursday show.

    Census Data Page

Since 2000, the state’s overall population grew 20.6 percent, the figures show, but the Hispanic population grew by 42 percent during that period, compared to 24 percent for the black population and 20 percent for the white population.

The Anglo population has dropped to 45.3 percent of the total while Blacks make up 11.5 percent of the population.

The detailed demographic data will be used to redraw boundaries for Congress and the Legislature.

Texas is getting four new Congressional seats, more than any other state, and Hispanic leaders say more Latino-dominated seats should be drawn.

Bell County officials said the data show growth beyond what they expected.

The census figures set the county’s population at 310,235, up from 237,974 in the 2000 Census.

“To put this in perspective, the growth of 72, 261 from 2000 to 2010 is like adding another Temple and Harker Heights to our county,” said County Judge Jon Burrows.

“Bell County continues to be a county where businesses want to locate and expand and people want to live,” he said.

“It is our job as local officials to plan for the infrastructure and program needs to deliver the services our citizens need.”

The Commander’s station is equipped with six periscopes which provide all round 360 degree view. The Independent Thermal Viewer (ITV) from Texas Instruments provides him with independent, stabilized day and night vision with a 360 degree view, automatic sector scanning, automatic target cueing of the Gunner’s sight with no need for verbal communication, and a complete back-up fire control system – the Commander is capable of firing the main gun independent of the Gunner.

The Gunner’s Primary Sight-Line of Sight (GPS-LOS), was developed by the Electro-Optical Systems Division of Hughes Aircraft Company. The night vision Thermal Imaging System (TIS), also from Hughes, creates an image based on the differences of heat radiated by objects in the field of view. The thermal image is displayed in the eyepiece of the Gunner’s sight together with the range measurement to within 10 meters of accuracy, from a Hughes laser range finder, which is integrated into all of the fire control systems. The Abrams also has an onboard digital fire control computer. Range data from the laser rangefinder is transferred directly to the fire control computer, which automatically calculates the fire control solution. The data includes 1) the lead angle measurement, 2) the bend of the gun measured by the muzzle reference system of the main armament, 3) wind velocity measurement from a wind sensor on the roof of the turret and 4) the data from a pendulum static cant sensor located at the center of the turret roof. The Gunner or Commander manually inputs the data on the ammunition type and temperature, and the barometric pressure and the weapon is prepared for engagement.

People reference the social shortcomings of homeschooling but I think that is too much of a generality that neglects the other possible reasons like the child simply being an introvert vs an extrovert or being ultra-religious (which we are not). There are better ways to learn social skills than being an inmate in the prisons that are our public schools and being surrounded by the children of the People of Walmart.

It is the latest move in a fast-escalating clash between Catalan nationalists and Spanish nationalists, the latter backed by King Juan Carlos and the Spanish military.

Jose-Manuel Garcia-Margallo, the foreign minister, threw down the gauntlet, calling Catalan secession “illegal and lethal”. He warned that Spain would use its veto to stop the region of Catalonia becoming an EU member “indefinitely”.

The constitutional crisis has eclipsed the parallel drama of a Spanish bail-out request from the European Stability Mechanism. It is no longer clear whether premier Mariano Rajoy can deliver on any austerity deal with Brussels.

Catalan leader Artur Mas held high-stakes talks with Mr Rajoy in Madrid on Thursday, armed with a mandate from the Catalan parliament and with charged emotions left from an unprecedented protest by 1.5m people in Barcelona 10 days ago.

He demanded an independent treasury for the rich Catalan region, with control over its own tax base akin to the model already enjoyed by Basques. The 9m Catalans have an economy the size of Austria’s.

This isn’t the only place in Europe where talk of a breakup of a country into component parts is being discussed though.  There is now talk of Secession in Scotland, one of the main constituents of the “United Kingdom”, which includes Great Britain, Wales and Ireland as well as Scotland.  From Bill Jamieson on The Scotsman:

I don’t blame them, I support Secessionary Movements :) The more fractured the system, the less chance there is for a One World Order Fascist Mega-State with the Boot Stomping on the Face of Humanity….FOREVER.

However, one has to also grasp the consequences of such a One-to-Many fracture,it will collapse World Trade even faster than it is already collapsing. Even though Scotland has Oil, they actually receive more in Bennies from the UK than they pay in taxes. Catalonia pays more in taxes then they receive in bennies, but the likelihood they can be accepted by the Euroclowns as a seperate State from Sapin is pretty small, and then who does Spain’s Debt fall on, the Castillians, the Catalonians or both and how do you divy up that debt obligation?

It will result in many different Curencies being issued out again, and similarly here in the FSofA in a Secession each State seceeding would have to issue its own currency. If you are a Fan of a Gold Backed currency, how many of these smaller units have ANY Gold upon which to base a currency? Would you expect your State Politicians to have any greater Financial Acumen than the National Pols? Would you trust your local State Senators and Assemblymen in administering a currency regime of any sort?

Secession brings with it a WORLD of SHIT for any of these places. You fracture many interdependent conduits in such a move, and anyplace that tries it is going to have a lot of problems to deal with. Greece still looks like the first to get Ejected from the EU, so they remain the Canary in the Coal Mine.

    flash,

I think your right on with the Abrams tank thing. The best way to deal with Armor is to not deal with it. There are also plenty of more numerous lighter, faster, deadly AFV’s that would also be very hard to handle for light infantry let alone semi trained to not trained civilian fighters with .233 semi autos and .40 cal Ramo Glocks. You could count on that armor being deployed and supported very well most of the time. Probably best not to fight at all and let the snake eat its tail.

I can Imagine what a problem just one Abrams could be. I’m not much of a computer gamer but I have several PC war games. One game I have is a WWII eastern front tactical style game that is played on a turn basis. You give orders to your individual units and or groups, call in artillery and so on as does your opponent at the same time. Then the commands are executed at the same time. You can’t give orders and then change them immediately if things go wrong nor do you simply observe and counter your opponents moves. Often you can’t even see what he’s up too. Everyone has the ability to hide or sneak around if there is cover. Surprises can and do happen for both sides. The game is extremely detailed as to armor thickness, angles, line of sight, distance, wind, weather, and ballistics, …………everything. You can also get down on ground level and see hills, trees, dips in the ground, tanks, AFV’s, men, rocks in detail even patches of tall grass that can hide you or the enemy. It gets really good reviews from military people too.

Anyway I recently played a series of games dealing with a small battle against the computer. It was a historically reconstructed German assault on a village in the summer 1942 to secure two bridges over a fordable but problematic stream. In the actual event the Germans prevailed though highly out numbered by tanks ( mostly T-34′s, some heavy KV’s) and infantry with only four assault guns, eight inferior Panzer III’s and two marginally effective Panzer IV’s. Very hard to win even a marginal victory.. I think the computer AI has better moral and command control than the Russians did.

After a number of attempts and no victory I went to the battle editor and moved the time frame up a few months to where the Tiger tank was first introduced and gave my self one tiger tank on the left flank at the start of the game. This one tank changed the whole situation. From a hull down position it was able to get into with out being taken out the Tiger destroyed the KV’s and most of the T-34′s. This made a massed attack of the Panzer III’s and IV’s on the remaining mostly damaged armor that were out of the Tigers LOS possible and effective. The Tigers advance with some infantry support on it’s flanks was devastating. The numerous Russian infantry was helpless and melted. After the loss of the supporting infantry I kept the tiger in open ground. The few Russians that did get close were eliminated or routed. The crazy AI Ivan’s kept coming but eventually what little remained of them left the field. Good thing as the Tiger was almost out of Ammo and could not be re supplied. At this point in the the war a properly supported and carefully deployed Tiger is for the most part vulnerable only to air attack, a really lucky heavy AP shot, or direct hit artillery fire. Even if it breaks down and the guns and turret work it’s dangerous to be anywhere in it’s sight. This was reversed when the German’s had to deal with KV’s with only infantry, Panzer III’s and IV’s or very vulnerable 88′s. I think it would be much the same situation today with an Abrams vs.regular infantry even if they had armor support not equal to the Abrams.

Prepare for the doom not for fighting an Abrams tank unless you have a death wish. Besides if the SHTF the armor won’t be coming for you it will be protecting strong points, important routes, portions of cities, ports, military installations, some power plants, some water facilities, necessary minions and green zones with the PTB and congressmen inside. Fuck the people, let them starve and kill each other because we won’t matter to them once there’s no more money in it. They will just want to keep us away until we die off.

If you crave action you might have plenty. Your hands may be full defending against militant segments of the FSA, ex low level now useless government drones and union Zombies that want your stuff for free along with roving gangs of psychopaths in designer athletic shoes that might kill you but at least don’t have super AFV’s to do it with.

No, the US is too economically intertwined for that to happen. Texas needs Wyoming, Georgia needs New Jersey, Virginia needs NY, and Vice Versa. It’s not like the EU, where it’s still largely Isolated economies who only work together if there can be a mutual benefit. The US is a single economy in a way that Germany and Greece just aren’t.

So basically what I’m saying is stop whining, nobody is just going to be allowed to succeed and America swings left in the popular vote every time now. That’s how it’s going to be because The Democrat’s non narrative is better than the Republican’s crappy narrative. It’s not a matter, directly, of policy (policy can derive from narrative, but narrative encompasses more than), it’s just a crappy, played out narrative. Quit crying, go back to the drawing board, and come back with a winning narrative. America needs conservatives, but the 2010 class of moonbat losers, uninspired failures and screaming lunatic morons are unacceptable.

Narrative. It’s the story of America. Go write one that will appeal to 51% of Americans moreso than a non narrative.

    Bruce, you nailed it.

The tank is just one part of a vast array of armor. and weaponry.

If the average bedwetter just could go to a high point on Fort Hood and look out over the miles of massed of military hardware, all designed for the specific purpose of killing people, their stutterings of civilian revolt would permanently cease.

You are not only a slave, but also a prisoner of your own government. The amount of freedom you are allowed can just as quickly be restricted as permitted.

There is no way out of the trap of our on creation ,except through the grace of God.

I’ve never been a particularly pious person , but I do have the common sense to realize that only though faith does one get the strength to face the harsh reality of there is no one of human flesh coming to save US fools from ourselves.

    Matthew 6
    Treasures in Heaven
19″Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22″The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24″No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.
    Do Not Worry
25″Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28″And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall enough trouble of its own.we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. @Kepi: Yes, the economic interdependence actually works for the secession movement. When Texas turns off the oil/gas/electrical flows to the rest of the country, we’ll see how “valuable” money from the fed.gov is. Let’s see……USD or the power on.

No, why should we, conservatives and Red Staters, continue to play in a rigged game? The Blue counties swung the election, fine, let them power their own homes, grow their own food, build their own stuff. Good Luck with that.

Are you saying that if only the right had a better “narrative” then all will be hunky dory? Dude, the Dems have appealed to the lowest common denominator in our population, buying votes with tax payer funded free shit. Human beings will take the path of least resistance VERY TIME. The Siren Call of the Free Shit is almost irresistable for most people. 60 million Amerikans have chosen economic slavery, a police state and fed.gov control iof their lives and destiny in return for the Free Shit. In contrast, the call for individual liberty, self sufficiency, economic opportunity and all the hard work that implies fell on deaf ears. It has nothing to do with “narrative” because clearly the Free Shit won out.

    So be it.

“Allowed to seced?” WTF? Are you next going to ask the fed.gov for permission to wipe your ass? Your mindset is completely what is the problem here. Whatever happened to the idea of individual responsibility and guiding your own destiny? We are supposed to look to the fed.gov for “permission” to pursue our dreams and create something for ourselves and our children?

From here on out, I consider this President a Domestic Enemy and myself behind enemy lines.

@flash: Yes, I have been to Ft. Hood, many times when I was in the Army Reserves. I even rode down a tank range in an M1A1 tank, flew in the gunner’s seat of an Apache and stood next to the big artillery while it went off, so I have a pretty good idea of our military hardware. I have been the only female in a 49,000 joint Army-Tx National Guard exercise, among other experiences in my 12 year Reservist career, so I have some insight into our military system and the men and women that staff it.

I’m sure the Afghannies look on the massed amount of US military hardware pointed their way as well. It sure doesn’t deter them. They are now kicking our asses. Do you really think that our military will do even better in a hot US Civil War, on their own turf???

All the military hardware in the universe is useless without the WILL to fight. Do you really think that this military, which has been killed at a higher rate due to the changes in ROE by Obama, whose votes are not counted, who are abandoned like Benghazi, whose returning vets face unemployement and contraction of benefits, whose president likens them to a “good photo op”, who repealed DADT, who has let gangs freely infiltrate the ranks, are going to follow his orders to fire on Americans that DO support and appreciate the military?

I doubt it. There are maybe 10-15% of the military, mostly minorities that will follow his orders. There will be a fair amount of “fragging” going on as a result, I suspect.

    The diversity dilemma
Thomas Friedman can be a clueless buffoon at times, but the one thing he does know about is the Middle East. What I find fascinating about his nightmare scenario is the way it shows how left-liberals who clearly recognize the structural problems in other countries can nevertheless turn around and advocate the continuing construction of the same sort of problems in the United States:

” Ever since the start of the Syrian uprising/civil war, I’ve cautioned that while Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain and Tunisia implode, Syria would explode if a political resolution was not found quickly. That is exactly what’s happening. The reason Syria explodes is because its borders are particularly artificial, and all its communities — Sunnis, Shiites, Alawites, Kurds, Druze and Christians — are linked to brethren in nearby countries and are trying to draw them in for help.”

That’s an astute observation, Tom. Now, guess what’s going to happen when the various communities inside the United States, the Mexicans, the Colombians, the Muslims, the Chinese, and the Jews, can’t make any more headway in collecting resources from the central government and start battling it out amongst themselves as is already taking place in places like south central LA, which the Aztecs have 65 percent ethnically cleansed already.

And why isn’t all that diversity making Syria stronger?

If I Sign Multiple Times, Will They Deport Me Faster?
Posted by Becky Akers on November 13, 2012 08:45 PM

So the creeps at the Weekly Standard want to strip secessionists of their citizenship and deport them, huh, Lew? Great! I’m gonna sign my name in letters larger than Mr. Hancock’s on the Declaration they so spurn. I’ve been looking into expatriation and renouncing my citizenship — how glorious to be free of paying my “fair share” towards worldwide murder and mayhem, let alone being liberated of the moral culpability! — but Our totalitarian Rulers make both awfully difficult. If the cretins at Weak Standards want to help me out, that’s terrific! In fact, I’ll not only sign the petitions for secession, I’ll sign Weak Standards’ one on deportation as well.

White House ‘secede’ petitions reach 675,000 signatures, 50-state participation

Less than a week after a New Orleans suburbanite petitioned the White House to allow Louisiana to secede from the United States, petitions from seven states have collected enough signatures to trigger a promised review from the Obama administration.

By 6:00 a.m. EST Wednesday, more than 675,000 digital signatures appeared on 69 separate secession petitions covering all 50 states, according to a Daily Caller analysis of requests lodged with the White House’s “We the People” online petition system.

A petition from Vermont, where talk of secession is a regular feature of political life, was the final entry.

Petitions from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas residents have accrued at least 25,000 signatures, the number the Obama administration says it will reward with a staff review of online proposals. (RELATED: Will Texas secede? Petition triggers White House review)

The Texas petition leads all others by a wide margin. Shortly before 9:00 a.m. EST Wednesday, it had attracted 94,700 signatures. But a spokesperson for Gov. Rick Perry said Tuesday afternoon that he does not support the idea of his state striking out on its own.

“Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it. But he also shares the frustrations many Americans have with our federal government,” according to a statement from the governor’s office.

A backlash Monday night saw requests filed with the White House to strip citizenship rights from Americans who signed petitions to help states secede. (RELATED: Anti-secession forces fight back with White House deportation petitions)

And in a similar nose-thumbing aimed at Texas’ conservative majority, progressives from the liberal state capital of Austin responded Monday with a petition to secede from their state if Texas as a whole should decide to leave the Union.

Late Tuesday a second group of Texans, this one from Houston, lodged their own White House petition. Secession-minded Texans, they wrote, “are mentally deficient and [we] do not want them representing us. We would like more education in our state to eradicate their disease.”

Houstonian “Kimberly F” — The White House does not provide last names — submitted the petition. She told TheDC in an email that ”[w]e need both sides presented, or we all look like a bunch of fools.”

A group from El Paso, too, wants no part of an independent Texas. “Allow the city of El Paso to secede from the state of Texas,” their petition reads. “El Paso is tired of being a second class city within Texas.”

But smaller petitions like theirs are a political side show of a political side show. One effort, aimed at Missourians, called for a nationwide catered pizza party to celebrate when the Show Me State left the U.S. (RELATED: Pizza party! White House petition silliness gets cheesy)

States whose active petitions have not yet reached the 25,000 signature threshold include Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

“People accused of blaming America are commonly called “America haters.”

“Although this riposte to criticism is the rhetorical tactic of first resort for the more simple-minded, flag-waving species of self-anointed patriots, it is by no means their exclusive property. Neocons writing in such elevated outlets as the New York Times and the Washington Post have not been bashful about smearing their critics as people who “blame America.”"

Robert Higgs had a thorough debunking of the hate meme in the Independent Review but the link doesn’t work any more.
