    I’m sure you good folks know the headline story on druge today is that Detroit is laying the groundwork for bankruptcy.

    Couldn’t happen to a nicer city. But, it came as such a surprise to me. Just two days ago I saw Mayor Dave Bing (he should have stayed in basketball) appear on CNN to say that the fiscal situation is on the upswing. bwaahahahahaha. Mayor Bing should go on a Comedy Tour.

    Stucky, that pic looks like it was shot from Windsor, Canada. Well, from certain vantage points Detroit looks like a place you’d want to visit, from others, not so nice. But full on horror shots are reserved for when it is too late to turn back around and you are on the bridge. Dead, few living, steal mills and smokestacks and an oil refinery. And that’s the good part.

    Windsor used to be a rocking little town. Tons of weekend nightlife, nice, helpful cops, next to no crime, a great exchange rate, easy border crossing. Then 9/11 happened and while I’d still venture across, it became more odious. Then the recession really kicked in and Windsor – against the warnings of the entire downtown district – enacted a smoking ban. The ban inexplicably – due to the newer 3 major Detroit casinos that still to this day allow smoking (and they are the ONLY public places in Michigan that can) – included their casino.

    Flash forward a couple years and between the falling exchange rate, and the smoking ban, Windsor has dried up and blown away.

    Do-gooders are the bane of society. Swear to god.

    I have said it once and I will say it again: AS GOES DETROIT SO WILL GO THE USSA.

    The same cultural/economic/global/federal forces that took 40 years to destroy Detroit are now going to be unleashed on the USA in the next 2-4 years.

    Let’s start a TBP poll:

    1) The state of MI will bail out Detroit or restructure their debt or do the same Kabuki dance that Greece is doing with the ECB and Detroit limps along.

    2) Obama will bail out Detroit as it is TBTF. The FSA there riots in glee, the place burns to the gound.

    3) No bail out, the city goes bankrupt, the unions/FSA riot in rage, it burns to the ground.

    4) Detroit is bought by the Chinese and made into a museum of “How To Destroy A Country”.

    5) Detroit secedes from the US, forms its own country and immediately applies for massive foreign aid.

    Been about 15 years since I’ve been to Windsor.

    One of Windor’s major “claim to fame” attractions is their world class totally nude Strip Bars.

    (I only know this because I went there to do some research regrading cultural exchange programs between US & Canada.)

    6) Detroit secedes from the US, and forms its own country. Blacks flee to Cleveland to continue getting Free Shit. Detroit’s large Mooslim population take over the city. Leon Panetta has evidence that the mooslims are making chemical weapons. Hillary Clinton demands that Democracy be restored. Military drones bomb the shit out of Detroit, leveling it. Polish-Americans from Hamtramck take over and rebuild Detroit to its former glory.

    Leave it to StuckenStuffinDollarsinGstrings to know the great titty bars. I must concur, having went through residency in the hellhole known as Detroit, that the only good and decent thing about Detroit is it’s proximity to Canada, and Windsor (right across the bridge). They import the ladies from Montreal and other areas of French Canada. Truly amazing.

    Grew up in Little Detroit ( Toledo ) and dropped a few bucks at Kalarneys and The Million Dollar Club in Windsor. Still tell the story of the $6 Lobster tail and the $10 beers. At the MDC every nights headliner was a Penthouse pet of the month.

    MDC was top drawer, indeed.

    But once you wandered off the main strip and onto the side streets, the story was quite different. I think one of those was a joint called Danny’s … or, whatever …. and they had BUTT UGLY babes. Old skanks, drug users, un-shaved armpits. I’d make those places my final stop … this removed any desire to choke the chicken after seeing the hotties at MDC.

    Again, I only did this once for research purpose.

Anyhow it’s interesting that plans for Detroit include farming. It’s smart that they realize that these cities aren’t coming back. I would charge all present and past politicians with the felonies that they committed. It’s good to watch Dimora and Russo and their crony friends rot in jail for 25 to life. I know these guys were caught skimming as their predessors were doing the same thing. Just that the skim became too great as the Cuyahoga county had shrunk and wealth fled. Good luck changing the political culture when the voters are still the same ignorant assholes who voted by name and party only. Like the chickies. Cleavage keeps the dick happy when she is on the rag.
