The original American patriots were those individuals brave enough to resist with force the oppressive power of King George. I accept the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist oppressive state power. The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.

This is not comedy, this is a bold commentary on the State of the Union i.e.a public service message.

The only thing that separates George Carlin from the overwhelming majority of men in this country is that he refused to surrender his balls to the establishment. We’re all born with them, such a shame to see so many cast aside along the way. He said what he wanted to say, at any time, for any reason, and in any company he chose. And he was LOUD about it. Where’s the current analogue? Stewart and Colbert? Not even close. Funny, yes. Wholly-owned corporate subsidiaries of the media-industrial complex, resounding yes.

Slamming the system is pretty lucrative, it seems. Admin’s net worth from TBP should be in the Bloomberg range pretty soon.
(Actually, at death you ain’t worth shit anymore.)

if you listen to carlin long enough you can become what he sounds like, a bitter old man. the basis of his comedy is that he doesn’t believe in anything or anyone. he looked behind every curtain to find falsehood and pretense, he found it. if you look up the definition of cynic in the dictionary, yep, carlin. the father of modern tv crap dialogue and rap music lyrics. dirty language is fine for TBP readers, they have the intelligence to handle the nuances of various strong words. making filth talk the substance of tv comedy for general consumption was a horrible outcome of george’s campaign to get rid of censors.
Hot debate. What do you think?

Unlike you, I found Carlin’s monologue to be quite accurate. If you would care to engage in further conversation, I promise not to use “dirty language” (whatever that is) and discuss cultural isses in whatever context you choose.
Respectfully yours,
SSS

right in the middle of my comment, i said it is alright for TBP readers. use any laguage you like i understand TBP is a free for all and no one should come here without their thickest hide. my criticism is that carlin’s career had given us TV full of carlinist trash talk, although movies in the 60′s began to use foul language, it was george leading the fight to remove censorship from TV. As for his humor and social commentary, it is funny because it is insightful, as with mad magazine and many comics, pointing out human foibles of americans is a great way to succeed as americans love to laugh at themselves

Which just goes to show that even $300M doesn’t get you “in the club” running the show here. Just makes you a well paid entertainer.
The folks at the top control far more than this, $Trillions$ really, possibly $Quadrillions$ when talking Derivatives.$300M is Chump Change. I should know. A PIcasso there, a Monet there, doesn’t buy you a ticket into the Club. LOL.
