I’d add the big modern one. Entitlement. What else could make a young man think he had the right to kill children but a inflated belief in his own importance. That if he was unhappy then everyone else must be too.

  2. Oscar Mannheim says:

Someone who kills children has a hole where his soul–his very self–should be, and it is there because he has no spiritual anchor. Misery loves company, and the most bitter people I have ever met are invariable atheists of the naturalist-materialist type: “We’re just lumps of meat, life has no purpose, wha-wha-I-think-I’ll-go-eat-worms!” The reason these people are so rabidly anti-religious is that they can’t stand the idea of others finding solace in something that cannot, of finding joy in a world in which they cannot. They are compelled to ridicule religion, believing themselves to be superior beings based on spurious “intellectual” claims. I used to feel sorry for these people; I still do, but now I also despise them and their grim self-righteousness, infinitely worse than that of certain religious types. Let them all stew for eternity in the narcissistic hells of their own creation, but let them keep their bitterness to themselves instead of spewing it over the rest of us.

Take a nice year-end break and listen to the late Eva Cassidy’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World,” bcause in spite of everything, it IS!

sangell – entitlement: i was at the unemployment office a few years back. the customer assistant asked the man in front of me a question. he shot back defensively, i’m entitled! she patiently but firmly corrected him, no one is entitled, sir, you can apply for unemployment benefits…
it may be that entitlement is merely a mindset or it really is part and parcel of our due as citizens. (i know which way i would opinionate but i’m still learning about americans.)

  4. OF says:

In regard to OM: I´m always fascinated how quickly “people” on this planet condemn other people to “eternal” bad places and feelings for their opinion, however crazy their opinions maybe.

The New Testament and the very strict, clear and logical commandments of Christ are constantly being ignored. Christ is quite bloody clear about practices of condemnation over other people. There is absolutely no leeway for interpretation.

Judge ye not, so you be not judged! Whoever is without sin throw the first stone. Etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc……………!

Would you like to be condemned to a really sucking place FOREVER, just because you were a bloody human fool and made mistakes?!

Father, FORGIVE them for they do not know what they do!

I want to add here: Father, please forgive them, for they do not know who they are.

What kind of parents would you be condemning your children to hell FOREVER, because they smashed a window?

No, you would still love them, but also give them their lesson and made sure they learned.

What is it with these people, Stucky included with respect, are Christ´s words in Marsian, or what?

uh, oscar didn’t judge anybody, he said he despised them for being so negative. then he said to let them live in their own private hell, but he didn’t condemn them to an eternal frying pan. why would you criticise someone on the same team? where’s the love and harmony in that?

What the hell are you talking about, and why bring me into this?

Jesus has a nice little history of condeming certain classes of people; Scribes, Pharisees, and the RIch for starters. He called Herod a “fox” … which was a way of cursing a person back then (like called them a ‘pussy’). He even cursed out a fig tree. Preaching that folks who don’t believe his message will be cast in a lake of everlasting fire and torment …. well, excuse me for thinking that bears a tone of condemnation.

He was pretty easy on whores, prostitutes, thieves, murderers, and tax collectors. I give him a Big Thumbs Up for that … especially the ho’s.

    ======================

Blood For Blood – Evil In The Brain

Go! Now I’m older and my mind is set
I’m moving like a guided missile haven’t reached my target yet
I’m loaded with anger and adrenaline get so mad
and raged sometimes I forget where I’ve been
My thoughts are cluttered I’m confused
That causes a shortening of my already burning fuse
Been cheated on a chance to lead a normal life
Everything I’ve ever done has always ended in strife
In the night, the night always brings the pain
I feel so dirty, my hands, my hands are stained
Can’t see eye to eye with anyone, my mind is set and done
You can’t argue with a loaded gun
Sometimes, sometimes I feel I’m going insane
with all these sick thoughts in my head I’m going evil in the brain
I lack any type of common sense ’cause I always want to solve
all my problems with my fists and violence

    I think I’m going insane
I want to give fear to the world
    Evil in the brain
you can’t reason with a lunatic
I’m evil, evil in the brain
Evil in the brain are the only words I can use to describe
what I saw, how I grew and what I didn’t want to know
I see the world die and not last long enough to see the blood dry
I’ll die! Smirking and laughing as long as I get my goals in sight
That’s right, it’s end is what I wish for every night
And the world is going to hell in a hand basket
all I want to do is fill it’s casket.

I’m losing the cancerous tumor in my head I call a brain
    I’m losing control
    evil in the brain
Kindness or hatred, I can’t tell the difference
    evil in the brain
I wanna give fear to the world
    evil in the brain
You can’t reason with a lunatic
I’m evil, evil in the brain
Sick ideas seem so normal inside my brewing hate
but in everyday life I’m totally abnormal
And all I see is red I was misled
I wish I was dead instead of having being bled
And now it’s me against the world

    Right or wrong,
I haven’t changed this long because my madness is that strong
But in the end the world will pay
I won’t be held responsible there’s never been another way
I’m losing the cancerous tumor in my head I call a brain
    I’ve lost it
I’m going evil, evil in the brain

No pity for the suffering of the world ’cause my mind is fucked
    and my heart is cold
Look at my face, there’s no grace
and I’m laced with disgust for the entire human race
My mind is a fury traumatized by all their shit and lies
Broken promises and endless hatred for the world, it dies!
A recipe for madness in a sick cold world
I can’t go on with these cards I’ve been dealt
    I’ll just fold
    Evil in the brain
    evil in the brain

maybe not so easy on murderers, he says the devil is a murderer from the beginning. i was wondering why you said whores and prostitutes then i figured you mean the woman caught in adultery would be called a ho and mary magdalene would be the prostitute. how astute.

oswald, ray, you could say they had an agenda of sorts. holmes, loughner, lanza are a new breed without a point or seeming purpose, automatons without a personality or hint of a conscience. at least harris and klebold seemed to have a motive.
