    Audacious oligarchy.

    This will not end well.

    Ignoring such pervasive white collar crimes, which are still ongoing by the way, creates a climate of extreme moral hazard, festering corruption, and teaches felony by example.

    I think they give Obama, the regulators, and the Congress far to much credit in ignoring these crimes ‘for the good of the system.’ It is all about careerism, the credibility trap, and going along to get along.

    They cannot reform the system because they are the system, and the political and financial elite are doing just fine with the system the way that it is, thank you very much. They do not want things to change.

    Jesse is quite right and it also becomes a problem of not seeing an act as criminal once you are part of a criminal organization. Hitler is said to have suggested in a conversation with the Viceroy of India, Lord Halifax, in 1938 that the British should simply have Ghandi shot and if the demonstrations for independence continued, shoot the member of his independence organization in lots of 200. Hitler did not think his helpful suggestion extreme or illegal. It did not occur to him that a British Viceroy could not order the arrest and execution of anyone he thought a danger to the security of his government.

    The US Constitution, after years of being mutilated and warped by the courts, Congress and President is no longer taking seriously by those at the top levels of the government. I imagine most have either not read it since their school days, if then. They certainly don’t consult it even though they are sworn to defend it.
