This will end the lie, if anyone still believes it, that the police have a duty to protect the public.
I like the interviewer and creator of this video, Luke Rudkowski; he makes fascinating videos for We Are Change, where he actually gets in the faces of bankers and politicians and asks them confrontational questions, refusing to back down.

Yojimbo, thanks for this. The case interested me, so I looked up some news stories on the event; sharing for anyone who wants to read how the story was covered:

Charles Murray, in his recent book titled “Coming Apart.” tells of a recruitment at NYPD in 1939 during the Depression when the national unemployment rate was at 17 per cent. (page 117).
In short, 350 people were selected from a pool of applicants totaling 33,000. The selections were based solely on the basis of test scores with no consideration given to relatives of current officers or to those with political connections.
The mean IQ for those chosen was 130, around the same level as those gaining entry to this country’s elite colleges now.
The result was that this class of recruits was the most decorated, highest performing, and least corrupt in the history of the NYPD.
So it is possible to have a superb police force.
Nowadays, people with such potential graduate and become employed as financial analysts, bankers, doctors, or enter other professions where they can start in the low to mid six figures per annum and not get their hands dirty.
Thus, a better police force equals higher (much higher) pay. The taxpayers don’t want to foot the bill and so we wind up with cops who are much better suited to being middle school PhyEd teachers. There is no solution to this problem of rotten cops as things now stand.

Sorry, but all the cops are there to do is put up the yellow tape around the crime scene and draw the chalk outline around your dead body.
I will now bask in the glow of total vindication as I have been saying for along time – BE HEAVILY ARMED AT ALL TIMES.

Like most small-time criminals, I fear and hate the police. The police only serve and protect big- time criminals.
Large city police departments all have some unscrupulous characters who use their job as an opportunity to steal. Most of the rest are just rying to get through another shift and collect a paycheck with the least effort possible.
With that going on, why would anybody in that job want to be a hero? Just creates enemies and resentment.

Dorkus Maximus says:
The term “serve and protect” has long been removed from most police cars, police letterhead, police signs, websites, etc. That is not accidental.
Their job is to (hopefully) figure out who killed you and (hopefully) arrest that person.
The racial profiling hysteria largely did away with the “serve and protect” stuff. “Serve and protect” involves assessing people and situations BEFORE a crime is committed, or in the instance of this video, while the crime was being committed. During this hysteria, police were continually second guessed and sued because, yes, the person they were targeting was frequently (usually?) black.
Cops largely suck, but even the good ones have their hands tied.

I remember 15-20 years ago learning that there is no individual right to police protection even if there is a restraining order for example. This lie, not myth, is told over and over when in fact 911 is a clean up call for yours and mine dead or injured body. Typical police and mayor patting themselves on the back for a job well done. Again preaching to the choir here but Bloomberg and Cuomo destroyed second amendment rights to defend yourself leaving the regular folks out there defenseless. A gun in hands of a person with the right mindset would stop these psychos. God bless you Joe and maybe anonymous can find the subway tape which I am sure is destroyed but try anyway. I sharing this with everyone on social media and regular media as too many well meaning folks don’t get it. If you watch with and you don’t change your perspective then you are too dence to reason with.
