Funny, one of the few constitutional jobs of the federal government, and they fail.

Just like government failure day, 9/11/2001.

They do succeed in the usurpations though – my toilet has less water and does not work as well as my grandparents toilet, 100 % surveillance of all communications, killing and imprisoning US citizens without due process, and inexperienced want to be workers are denied jobs due to minimum wage laws.

Lesson – actual constitutional functions of the government = fail

    Usurped functions = succeed

    What a fucked up system.

    The problem is gross mismanagement.

My local PO was built in the late 50′s using pink limestone. It’s not what I would call a pretty building but I love it. They will likely close it down in the not too distant future.

The place only has 7 parking spots and from time to time they send govt employees to seal coat the parking lot and re-paint the parking spot lines. Trouble is, they always paint the new lines in a different place each time. You can literally see horizontal structure under the seal coat layer where the lines were in years past. Most recently, they repainted the lines in such a way that defies all logic. They cut the right most and left most spots in half with new lines, then squeezed six equally spaced lines in between those two lines preserving the 7 parking spots. The lines are so close now that if you parked a Toyota Prius in each spot, you could only open the passenger door on the right most car and the drivers door on the left most car.

One day when I arrived, two dumbasses were nearly in a fist fight over one of them parking too close to the other with both arguing that they were centered between the lines. I mentioned the problem to the counter guy who called the postmaster to hear my complaint. He said that had noticed the spots seemed a bit narrower than they used to be and that people getting fights over it was not his fault. The fucking flagpole would put up a better argument. That was a year ago and nothing has changed.

I have a PO box at this post office and when I opened it, I was told that the box renewal notice would be put in my box and was payable within 30 days or my box would be closed and re-leased to someone else. After 16 months I had not seen a notice so I asked about it. They could find no lease record for my box at all and told me they would have to research it. A week later, an invoice for the box appeared in my box. I went in to pay it and the lady could said no record could be found for me leasing the box. If I had just kept my mouth shut, I’d probably never get a bill for it.

I will say that this little post office has what it quite possibly the very best postal clerk in the world. I have written numerous letters to the local and national postmasters praising the guy. His hours got cut and the two s l o w a s f u c k fossilized women still working full time work as though they were trained yesterday. I often wonder if my letter got him in trouble.

If they close it, I’d like to buy the place and remodel it to live in.

The Postal Service has a few good employees. However, overall, they make Gm and other bastions of union drones look efficient in comparison.

But the reason they are going broke, if I understand it, is that the service actually has to fund its pensions each year. What a novel idea.

When a govt agency actually has to fund its pensions, it is immediately clear that they are broke.

USPS has some strange approaches — around 2008, I recall one postmaster that was moved from location A to B. As he’d bought a million dollar house at A, a few years before, the PO credited him with his buying price, though by that time the house was worth far less. Winners and losers …
