Youth Baseball Team Raffling AR-15 Rifle
A youth baseball league in central Illinois is in desperate need of cash – so they’ve decided to auction off an AR-15 assault rifle.
Last year the Atwood-Hammond baseball league tried to raffle off half a hog. But they only raised $10 – and barely had enough to pay the local butcher.
So this year a local gun shop provided the league with a Rock River Arms Tactical Operator Two – and the response has been massive.
“My phone has been ringing off the hook,” said Charidy Bucher, co-owner of the Atwood Armory shop. “The response has been tremendous.”
Bucher told me her phone has been ringing since 4:30 a.m.
“People from out of state have been calling,” she said.
She said the winner of the rifle will also receive 260 rounds of ammunition.
“Ammo is just as hard to get as the firearms these days, unfortunately,” she said.
The towns of Atwood and Hammond are about 25 miles southwest of Champaign – where many residents invoke their Second Amendment rights.
“Most people in central Illinois like to go out and shoot with their families,” she told Fox News. “People are interested in preserving their rights to keep and bear arms.”

You gotta offer a prize that people want. You have to be registered with the socialist state of Illinois in order to even get a gun; you need a “FOID” card, and every weapon sale is registered and cleared with the state. We already have draconian gun laws here.
That’s about two hours from here. The winner will receive 260 rounds of ammo. Thank goodness, you can’t buy any .233 ammo anywhere.

I had to go to Seattle for a surgery consult last week and saw plenty of ammo including .223 at a place in Moses Lake. It’s been a month or two but the last time I was in Wally World they had plenty of ammo. Display cases were fully stocked.

I just called them and mailed out a check for two tickets along with my contact info. Each ticket is $20. I never win these things but the money is going for a good cause.
If I do win I’ll have to have it shipped to a local dealer and pay shipping and dealer fees but that is still cheaper than buying the gun and ammo. Since my wife and I have concealed carry permits, no background checks are required.
I forgot to ask when the drawing is.
