I love when sanctimonious blowhards end up being revealed as frauds. Looks like the First Dude of Alaska wasn’t getting enough from his Momma Grizzly. I guess spanking his salmon wasn’t cutting it. I’m sure we’ll see a 45 minute video from Sarah the Great tomorrow blaming the liberal mainstream press and Jared Loughner for this scandal.

I can’t wait for the future revelations about Mike Huckabee’s goat fetish and the shocking news about Mitt Romney’s 12 wives.

TODD PALIN SEX SCANDAL

SARAH PALIN‘s husband TODD is caught up in a sleazy sex scandal, The ENQUIRER has learned!

Political bloggers are digging into incredible claims that the “First Dude” – father of the couple’s five children – cheated on his wife with a female massage therapist who was busted for prostitution!

The scandal not only has the potential to sabotage Palin’s possible 2012 White House bid, but also threatens to destroy her marriage, sources say.

While the story heats up on the internet, The ENQUIRER has uncovered official documents confirming the woman’s arrest, and learned police have confiscated physical evidence that could tie Todd to an alleged extramarital affair.

We have also uncovered documents that show the woman  – identified by bloggers as Shailey Tripp – contributed free massages to an anonymous person working for Sarah’s campaign for governor of Alaska.

While representatives for Todd Palin vehemently deny he cheated on his wife, allegations of his extramarital affair surfaced on Jan. 4 when an anonymous tipster sent out messages to news outlets making the allegation using the e-mail address thepalinmorals@hotmail.com.

“My sources reveal that a massage therapist and computer technologist, SHAILEY TRIPP, had an affair with Todd Palin that lead (sic) to her arrest March of 2010,” claimed the anonymous e-mail.

“According to the tenants in the building of her offices, they saw Todd come and go often and heard noises that sounded like someone was having sex. It was the same tenants who called the police on her.”

An ENQUIRER investigation has confirmed Tripp, 36, was arrested on March 4, 2010 in Anchorage and charged with maintaining a house of prostitution.

Tripp pleaded no contest on June 13, 2010 with sentencing set for June 15, 2011.  She agreed to complete 80 hours of volunteer service, not post advertisements on CraigsList and pay a fine of $500.  If she meets with these conditions, Tripp can withdraw her plea at the sentencing hearing and the case will be dismissed, records show.
UPDATE 4.30 pm est 1/21/11: Since the first hours of this breaking story ignited a firestorm of controversy key mainstream media The New York Daily News, Vanity Fair magazine, Yahoo News, The Huffington Post and Forbes Magazine,  among others, have cited The ENQUIRER’s bombshell investigation into the Palin cheating scandal.

In fact,  Forbes suggested that “in the Palin-built political arena of 2011, Todd Palin’s affair might be the just the ticket Sarah needs to be the first single mother in the Oval Office.”

Interestingly enough, The NY Daily News reported that when the Palins were confronted with cheating allegations in both 2008 and 2009,  the then-Alaskan Governor was quick to issue a denial.

The News reported that neither Todd nor Sarah Palin have yet to comment on The ENQUIRER’s report.

And yet, you know that some large proportion of politicians and their spouses are having affairs/mistresses/etc. But the vast majority don’t get called on it. Bill Clinton did, mostly by Republicans, and Eliot Spitzer was revealed when he had pissed off a few too many powerful people.

I don’t like Palin much, but this reeks of a political hit, and a massive double standard attacking someone perceived to be paying for sex in a lower-class way (massage person labeled as prostitute) rather than someone paying for sex in an upper-class way (elite escorts, trophy wife, etc.).

Zero chance I would vote for either one in 2012. In 2008 I voted Paul in the primaries and libertarian (can’t even remember who that was!) for the presidential election. Obama is absolutely terrible, although in different ways than I expected (I expected a socialist and I got a blatant bankster puppet). Palin would be just as bad. 2012 could be a viable year for a so-called “third party”, i.e. anyone other than the entrenched monoparty with two heads.

This story doesn’t change much anyway. Palin will not run for President. Her unfavorability ratings are now clearly north of 50 percent, about twenty points ahead of her favorables and climbing. She definitely won’t get the nomination, and I don’t think she’ll run.
I have a feeling the GOP 2012 nomination will go to either Romney or some sort of dark horse candidate.
Not that I actually think the election will matter anyway. 2012 may well be the last Presidential election we ever have. I’m not sure, but I think that’s a reasonable possibility. This Republic is past the point of no return.

Newt Gingrich tells Georgia Republicans he’ll be a candidate in ‘12

    3:20 pm January 21, 2011, by jgalloway

In the last 24 hours, former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich has touched base with several prominent Republicans in his former home state, telling them that he intends to make a run for president in 2012 using Georgia as his base – and that he already has his eye on office space in Buckhead for a campaign headquarters.
Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich

Former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich

Gingrich met on Thursday with Nathan Deal, whom Gingrich endorsed during a critical phase of last year’s Republican primary for governor.

House Speaker David Ralston introduced Gingrich Thursday night at a downtown Atlanta affair hosted by the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce.

The visits and conversations – some face-to-face, others on the phone — appear to be an attempt by Gingrich to revive his old campaign network and lock down as much support as possible in a state won by Republican Mike Huckabee in the 2008 presidential primary.

A spokeswoman for Johnny Isakson said Gingrich called the U.S. senator earlier this month – adding that Gingrich was not definite about his plans in that conversation. In an interview on Friday, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss said he had not talked to Gingrich yet, but that the former U.S. House speaker had asked for an appointment in the near future. “He said, ‘I need a significant amount of your time,’” Chambliss said.

Gingrich, 67, is registered to vote in Virginia, and has a Virginia driver’s license. But he spent most of his adult life in Georgia, and from 1979 until 1999 — the last three years as speaker — Gingrich was a congressman from metro Atlanta.

Gingrich most recent visit here was clearly an attempt to lock down as much support as possible in a state won by Republican Mike Huckabee in the 2008 presidential primary. In a meeting with reporters, Gingrich emphasized his Georgia roots.

“My offices are here. My grandchildren are here. I’m here regularly,” Gingrich said at a Thursday news conference at his Center for Health Transformation in suburban Atlanta. “I helped create the modern Republican Party in Georgia starting in 1960. I have a certain fondness for being back in Atlanta.”

Perhaps more important, fundraising for Gingrich’s American Solutions organization is conducted out of Atlanta.

However, Rick Tyler, a spokesman for Gingrich, contacted Friday, said the former House speaker’s schedule for deciding on a 2012 presidential run had not changed. “His plans are to decide on whether to create an exploratory committee in late February, and make a decision about his candidacy in March,” Tyler said.

But Tyler said that Atlanta shouldn’t be ruled out as a headquarters – should Gingrich join the presidential contest.

For Gingrich, the key question is whether or not he can recreate an enthusiastic political base in Georgia more than a decade after he left it. There is no guarantee. Take, for instance, Saxby Chambliss. In a session with reporters, the U.S. senator said:

“Newt is my friend. He’s been a mentor, in some respects, since he was speaker when I got elected [to Congress].”

“But it’s a different world right now, and we’ve got to make sure that whoever the nominee is , that he can win in November. That’s the goal of every Republican right now. John Thune[, the U.S. senator from South Dakota,] is a very close friend. He’s talked to me about his potential campaign.

“I’m going to keep my powder dry.”

While Chambliss said he would pay good money to watch a debate between Gingrich and President Barack Obama, and has several strong points — his communication skills, and his familiarity with both fiscal issues and health care. But Chambliss has questions about Gingrich’s viability:

“Newt hasn’t said this to me, but he’s obviously aware of all the negative aspects of the campaign. And I’d be curious to hear from him why he thinks he can win in spite of that.

“In presidential campaigns now, you have to do something in Iowa. You may not have to win Iowa, but you’ve got to make a good showing in Iowa. Then you’ve either got to win or make a good showing in New Hampshire – if you don’t win Iowa.

Then if you don’t win New Hampshire or Iowa, you’ve got to win South Carolina. Can Newt do that?”
