When I read quotes by men like H.L. Mencken and Robert Heinlein, I realize I’m not really a stranger in a strange land, even though I feel that way most of the time. These cynical, critical thinking, libertarian minded gentlemen understood government tended towards corruption and tyranny, the populace tended towards ignorance and distraction, and reality eventually teaches a harsh lesson to fools, knaves and dumbasses.
Sometimes we think the current day worldly circumstances are new and original, when human nature, politicians, and governments never really change. When Mencken and Heinlein were writing and providing social commentary during the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, they observed the same fallacies, foolishness, lack of self-responsibility, government malfeasance, and inability of the majority to think critically, that are rampant in society today.
In Part One of this article I laid out the unsustainable economic conditions which will drive the next phase of this Fourth Turnings and detailed the economic factors which drove the previous three American Fourth Turnings.
Strauss and Howe, when writing The Fourth Turning in 1997, did not know the exact circumstances and events which would propel the next Turning. But their study of economic and demographic trends along with the attitudes of generations and historical precedents in prior Fourth Turnings, led them to conclude the driving factors of this Crisis would be debt, global disorder and civic decay.
As I watch what is currently happening in this country and around the world, it is evident to me they nailed it. The volcanic eruption in 2008 unleashed a torrent of molten lava, which continues to flow along channels of distress, but is currently threatening to burst free of these channels and wreak worldwide financial and physical devastation. A multitude of possibilities described by Strauss and Howe below are already happening or will happen in the next few years.
The Trump Administration is looking into altering how it determines the national poverty level, which may put some Americans at risk of losing access to welfare programs, according to Bloomberg. The move might occur from changing how inflation is calculated in the “official poverty measure” according to a regulatory filing by White House Office of Management and Budget. That formula has been used for decades to try and determine where the poverty line is and what people qualify for social programs and federal benefits.
HOLLYWOOD, CA—Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was pumped to attend a taping of The Price Is Right in Hollywood this week. The special guest introduced herself as a U.S. representative and rising star of the Democratic Party. Things got interesting when the game began and every time it was her turn to estimate the price of an item her answer was “free.”
Items included a set of Italian leather handbags, an all expenses paid trip to the Bahamas, and a brand new 2019 BMW 330i, at all of which Ocasio-Cortez shouted, “FREE!”
When host Drew Carey asked if Ocasio-Cortez understood the game’s rules, she told Carey not to cat-call her and then responded, “Don’t hate me cause you ain’t me.”

William H. Macy portrays a character falsely claiming disability on “Shameless.”
Nearly 1 million people filed for disability benefits they ordinarily wouldn’t have due to the recession, a new study finds.
Another 400,000 filed earlier for disability than trends would have suggested, the study finds.
The study puts into numbers what economists had long suspected, that during the Great Recession the ranks of those who claimed disability were artificially high.
Of those that filed that otherwise would not have, some 41.8% were awarded benefits, or more than 400,000 new beneficiaries to the Social Security Disability Insurance program.

The White House budget proposal contains a new plan for reforming food stamps that would replace the current debit card-based system with one that directly provides American-grown foods to households.
It would radically remark the current program, which serves nearly 42 million people through what’s called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. While the White House budget as a whole has no chance of being adopted, the Trump administration has said that welfare reform will be something it plans to push this year through a Republican-held Congress.

Inflation in all its’ wondrous glory! (and side effects therefrom)
I know all about inflation. I’ve been studying it since I heard the word (about 60 years ago).
Mr. Milton Friedmanns’ definition that all inflation stems from printing to much money is absolutely correct except that with new skill and dexterity, our Federal Fools and the Banks that own them now include DEBT at part of the money supply. Debt (i.e. money NOW, spend it NOW and pay it back NEVER) is the exact same thing as printing dollar bills.
The sad part is that the rest of the world is still stupid enough to keep holding part of the debt! Even China has almost a $trillion bucks of Treasury debt they can threaten us with anytime they wish to. (Like now – when the U.S. Government Fools start thinking out loud about tariffs and such on Chinese junk)..
I find it hysterical how the left wingers accuse Trump followers of being violent and a danger to the country. They reveal their true colors more and more every day. These worthless pieces of shit proved Trump’s comments about illegal immigrants to be 100% accurate last night in the lily white Costa Mesa section of Orange County. They clashed with police, beat up innocent Trump supporters, and acted like the animals they are. These free shit army regulars will use any means necessary to keep their free shit. And Soros is funding their violence.
This is the future across our entire country. The white hard working, tax paying people of this country who are being screwed from the top by the Federal Reserve and Wall Street and from the bottom by these lowlife bottom feeding free shitters have had enough. If these free shitters attempt this type of violent behavior in our neighborhoods, there will be a lot of piled up bodies – and they won’t be white bodies.

Police clashed with hundreds of protesters outside Donald Trump’s rally in Southern California on Thursday night.
At least one police car was smashed up as hundreds of demonstrators – many of them waving Mexican flags – took to the streets outside the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, Orange County where Trump was speaking.
The protesters flooded the street outside the amphitheater with some stomping on cars, hurling rocks at motorists and forcefully declaring their opposition to Trump – bringing traffic to a halt and creating a tense standoff with authorities.
One Trump supporter was pictured with a bloody face after clashing with the anti-Trump activists, many of whom appeared to be young Hispanic people.
The violence in Southern California where Latinos make up a large segment of the population suggests Trump may face more of this in the days to come, as he campaigns ahead of the state’s June 7 primary.
