The Relief Valve

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Strong passions can erupt in unpredictable ways.

The government understands this – and desires that strong passions be diverted in a harmless – to the government – way.

Enter the cultivated, culturally and socially enforced obsession with organized, mass spectacle sports.

Fuuhhhhhtttttball especially but also the others.

These games – a new one to keep people busy almost every day, year-round –  are not so much “bread and circuses,” as they are often called. They are the vivification of the fictional Two Minutes’ Hate in Orwell’s 1984. A means by which the passions – the frustrations and anger of men in particular – are diverted and dissipated.

Stucky QOTD: PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

Q:  Describe one incident that you were part of that REALLY PISSED YOU OFF.  How did you ultimately handle it?  Specifically, I am interested whether or not you caused bodily harm to the person responsible for pissing you off … and, if so, how you got away with it.

BTW … that’s one question.

=====================================

Why do I ask?  Glad you asked ….

WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE DOING?

The two charts below may explain why, despite the propaganda about low unemployment, tremendous job growth and the retirement of Boomers explaining the lower participation rate, the economy is in recession, the middle class is pissed off, and the smell of revolution is in the air. When one in four Americans in the prime working years of 25 to 54 are not working, you’ve got a problem. What are 28.9 million people in the prime of their lives doing, if they are not working for a living. Sure some women are staying home to raise their kids, but how many two parent families can afford to get by on one income these days?

Just based on the historical record of employment to population ratios, the country is short by 3 million to 5 million jobs in this key demographic category. This has nothing to do with Boomers or retirement. Any man between the ages of 25 and 54 years old who is not truly disabled should be working. If they are not, they are either a good for nothing lazy free shitter, or the complete destruction of our blue collar industries by politicians, bankers, and corporate CEOs has left men with no remaining options.

In 1970, 96% of males between the ages of 25 and 54 were participating in the workforce and 93% were employed. Today, only 88% of males between the ages of 25 and 54 are participating in the workforce and only 83% are employed. What are the 12% of males in their prime working years doing, if they’re not working? Even the female participation rate for 25 to 54 year olds is the lowest in almost a quarter century.

I believe this data is at the gist of Trump’s growing popularity. You have a portion of the 25 to 54 population not working because they choose to not work. They are essentially members of the free shit army and expect the producers to pay their way. They will vote Clinton or Sanders. Then there are middle class 25 to 54 year olds who have been laid off because their companies shipped the jobs overseas or the overwhelming tax and regulatory burdens imposed by Obama and his minions have put companies out of business resulting in more layoffs.

Men and women in the prime of their life not working get very angry and frustrated. That anger is bubbling over and the MSM and establishment politicians are shocked because their luxurious secluded lives are unaffected. They will be flabbergasted when Trump wins the presidency on this wave of anger and frustration.

A Long, Hot Summer is Coming

Guest Post by Eric Peters

Whatever happens, it’s going to get ugly.long hot summer

If Trump is nominated, there will be riots – the Perpetually (and professionally) Aggrieved will take to the streets.

If Trump is denied the nomination, there will be riots – as the people come face to face with the true nature of the system they were taught to respect since childhood.

Not since 1861 has America been so clearly divided. These divisions transcend mere political differences of opinion over this or that policy. There is a fundamental schism. Irreconcilable differences. The two sides detest each other, have almost nothing in common. And so can no longer live together.

Trump has been likened to Hitler – which is unfair. He is no Hitler. He is a crony capitalist and some other things, too. Mussolini, maybe.

But he isn’t Hitler.Kasich

However, he is riding a wave – make that a tsunami – similar to the one that led to the chancellorship of the German Reich (as it was styled in those days) falling into the hands of the former gefreiter. The people of Germany had been driven to a state of desperation and frenzy by decades of economic evisceration of their country and thus, of themselves. Their country had been ruled over by a revolving, insular cabal of greedheads and frauds, some nothing more than puppets of financial interests, who milked the cow for their and their masters’ benefit.

Sound familiar?

Political Revulsion and Trump

political revulsion

A great political revulsion is underway. The mystery of Trump and his popularity confounds only those who believe the current political class is not exploiting and screwing up everything they touch. The shallow-minded media come to mind. The rest of us understand the revulsion.

trumpalabamaThe risk of electing a Trump is great, but continuing with the current Mafia has a certain end. The choice is one between rusting out with certainty (i.e., over a longer period of time) versus a chance of solving the rust problem but with the risk of burning out immediately. In short, it is akin to the decision of allowing King George to slowly milk the life out of the country or risking war against the then most powerful country in the world. Back then many wanted to choose the rusting process rather than risk the fires of war. After all, how bad could things get in the short span of a lifetime?

Fortunately, the nation back then was not filled with political correctness and cowardice. A minority prevailed and the freedom and liberty that changed the world was the result. A similar decision point, on a less grandiose scale, seems to be driving today’s political machinations.

“Trump Voters Are Not Just Angry – They Want Revenge”

Authored by Frank Lutz, originally posted at The FT,

Outraged by what Donald Trump says? You are not alone. No high-polling presidential candidate in the modern era has so intrepidly drawn the ire of so many within the American electorate. And there remains no end in sight.

Yet in rendering one voting bloc utterly apoplectic, he has appealed viscerally to another. The balance of middle ground politics is not, shall we say, Mr Trump’s bailiwick. But America is no longer a middle ground country. We are already scared by our division — and it is getting worse.

The simple truth is, the more provocative his language, the deeper and more passionate his support. He is no dummy; there is a method to his proverbial madness. Mr Trump says — to the growing legions who will listen — what tens of millions of Americans are already thinking. Respect or revile him, the man has hit a vein.

I spent three hours in a deep dialogue focus group with 29 Trump supporters. The phenomenon of “The Donald” is rooted in a psyche far deeper and more consequential than next November’s presidential election. His support denotes an abiding distrust in — and disrespect for — the governing elite. These individuals do not like being told by Washington or Wall Street what is best for them, do not like the direction America is headed in, and disdain President Barack Obama and his (perceived) circle of self-righteous, tone-deaf governing partisans.

Trump voters are not just angry — they want revenge.

ANOTHER REASON I DESPISE BANKS

Yesterday was a day from hell. A 14 hour ordeal moving my son into his apartment at Penn State Altoona. It included 8 hours of driving, rest stop food and the consequences thereof, battling the hoards of freaks at Wal-Mart, and the latest reason I despise banks.

I had Jimmy drive the entire trip so he could get used to the roads and the tedious boredom of driving on the PA Turnpike. Avalon followed with my youngest son in the car behind. It gave me plenty of time to impart my years of wisdom upon him. I’m sure he has already forgotten everything I said. And I had to listen to four hours of Phish.

All went smoothly and it was time to make a rest stop at the 2 hour mark just before Blue Mountain. The plan was to grab a quick bite to eat and complete the journey for a 1:00 pm arrival. The selection was limited. Either a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut or something from Roy Rogers. I grabbed a box of pizza and they got Roy Rogers.

Within 30 minutes of departure there was a rumble in my tummy. The rumble became shooting pains. I guess you can screw up a pizza. For the last 90 minutes of the trip I was in various stages of discomfort. But, I gutted it out. When we arrived and got the key, I grabbed the case of toilet paper we brought and ran for the bathroom. And Jimmy’s new apartment was christened.
