The Consumer Economy Has Completely Collapsed – “It’s a Ghost Town” for Holiday Shopping Everywhere

Guest Post by Sundance

“Crowds? I see nothing. I’m surprised,” retail worker Jeremy Pritchett told FOX 2. “Normally, it’s wrapped all the way around the building. Today: no one.”

That’s the typical ground report from areas all over the country.  No one, literally almost no one, is doing any holiday shopping and the traditional Black Friday rush to get deals and discounts just didn’t happen.  Financial media are scratching their puzzlers, perplexed with furrowed brows.

Interestingly, almost every financial media outlet is using the same Retail Federation talking point about anticipating an 8% increase in holiday sales this year.  Apparently, pretenses must be maintained.  Meanwhile, news crews and camera crews are having a desperate time finding any holiday shopping to use as background footage for the claims that sales are strong.

Where were 2019 Holiday sales so great exactly?

We do not think the “sales reports” about Black Friday and other 2019 holiday sales figures are at all accurate. In general, it is our belief that “spending” as a whole this Christmas season is DOWN.

Each year, season, or whatever period of time – news outlets, media publications, and other propaganda-spewing entities “report” the state of the economy or retail industries. They say “up” or “down” depending on what will benefit them the most. Much of these so-called reports, we believe, are utter fabrications (for whatever reason).

As you will surely remember many examples of “fraud” over the years. Accounting fraud. News fraud. Economic fraud. People, in general, have no problem lying, if it benefits them or those who pay them. We live in a fraudulent society across the board now.

So a properly cynical person will take nearly all “mainstream” news – and almost automatically assume it is something different than what it portrays. “Cui Bono?”

Black Friday Has Brick-and-Mortar Stores Seeing Red

Via ZeroHedge

Legacy brick-and-mortar retailers have found themselves falling behind this Thanksgiving season as the Black Friday “holiday” moves closer to becoming an online exclusive event. And as more Black Friday business gravitates towards online shopping, traditional retailers are still learning the ropes of how to take legacy models and move them online – despite posturing from these companies that they have already evolved in this regard.

According to Bloomberg, this Black Friday traditional brick-and-mortar retailers like Lowe’s, Walmart, Lululemon and Kohl’s all dealt  with glitches and malfunctioning websites. Marshal Cohen, an analyst at researcher NPD Group told Bloomberg: “It really does show the importance of investing in logistics and technology. They have to be able to handle the online rush.”

BLACK FRIDAY {Things you’ll never see!}

BLACK FRIDAY {Things you’ll never see!}

Here we are. Yet another BLACK FRIDAY upon us.

The same crap will be peddled, such has been true the past 15 years. Technology. Clothes. And other “disposable” consumer goods.

In other words – utter garbage that will be rendered obsolete or ruined in a short time. Just think about the stupid crap that was so great back in 2010 – where is it now? The garbage dump? Some dusty drawer?

Man – if I had my way in this world – the following items would achieve “doorbuster” status:

Things (we wish) had blockbuster BLACK FRIDAY sales in 2017

One Person Shot Outside Mall, Brawl Closes Alabama Shopping Center As Black Friday Gets Going

Tyler Durden's picture

A day after giving thanks, it appears the gentle folk of Missouri and Alabama are more about taking this morning…

One person was shot outside a Missouri mall as swarms of shoppers looking for Black Friday deals saw chaos pop up throughout the country.

As ABC17 reports, a 19-year-old person sustained life-threatening injuries after the shooting in the parking lot of the mall.

Mall policy stipulates no firearms are allowed inside of the building, but it’s unclear if that applies to the parking lot as well.

BLACK FRIDAY BRINGS OUT THE BEST & BRIGHTEST

This is what our society has become. Mindless consumers hooked on debt, buying shit they don’t need, while behaving like animals. The Deep State has succeeded.

“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. …In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons…who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.”Edward Bernays – Propaganda

IF YOU’RE GONNA BUY SHIT YOU DON’T NEED WITH MONEY YOU DON’T HAVE

If you are going to buy shit you don’t need with money you don’t have, at least do it through the TBP Amazon button on the right side of the page. It doesn’t cost you more, but it takes 6% out of Jeff Bezos’ pocket and puts it into mine.

So if you’re loading up on ammo for the holiday season, ordering that bunker building kit, or those Make America Great Again Christmas tree ornaments, make sure to use the TBP Amazon button.

Carry on.

Perpetual Black Friday

Submitted by Mike Shedlock via MishTalk.com,

Whatever numbers the retail association posts this weekend for Black Friday (typically overoptimistic assessments) are likely to be skewed this year even more.

The New York Times expects a Less Frenzied Black Friday as Millennials opt to stay away.
