Prescription pain killers: far riskier than gun ownership

If Americans are so happy, then why do we consume 80 percent of the entire global supply of prescription painkillers? Less than 5 percent of the world’s population lives in this country, and yet we buy four-fifths of these highly addictive drugs. In the United States today, approximately 4.7 million Americans are addicted to prescription pain relievers, and that represents about a 300 percent increase since 1999. If you personally know someone that is suffering from this addiction, then you probably already know how immensely destructive these drugs can be. Someone that was formally living a very healthy and normal life can be reduced to a total basket case within a matter of weeks.

OBAMACARE – THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON TAKING

Isn’t it interesting the mainstream media makes barely a peep about the ongoing and worsening Obamacare debacle. Healthcare premiums, co-pays and deductibles are soaring, while doctor and plan choices contract to a minuscule level. Recent surveys reveal the hardship being inflicted upon families across the nation. Those who are willfully baffled by the lack of consumer spending need look no further than Obamacare and its impact on the budgets of hard working Americans.

According to a survey by LIMRA, an insurance and financial services trade association, six in 10 workers agreed that the rising cost of health insurance directly affects how much they set aside in their workplace retirement savings plan. Employees are being forced to cut back on their retirement savings in order to meet the skyrocketing cost of their health insurance. Based on the numbers being bandied about by the Kaiser Family Foundation, it seems average families will soon have to decide between food and healthcare. Remember Obama’s quotes in 2008- 2009 when he was selling this bloated pig of a plan to you?

“We will start by reducing premiums by as much as $2,500 per family.”

“If you like the plan you have, you can keep it. If you like the doctor you have, you can keep your doctor, too. The only change you’ll see are falling costs as our reforms take hold.”

Millions of people have been kicked out of their existing health plans and have seen their premiums and deductibles go up by double digits. Small business owners are being forced out of business. Lawmaker Calls For Study On Links Between Pharmaceuticals And Mass Killers

Following recent media reports of high-profile mass shootings, a Republican assemblywoman from Nevada is calling for an investigation into whether psychiatric pharmaceuticals commonly taken by mass murderers can cause side effects that may contribute to their mental health decline.

According to KSNV Las Vegas, GOP Assemblywoman Michele Fiore says that, rather than blaming mass shootings on the guns used by the perpetrators, studies should be done on the drugs that many of them have a history of having taken to treat mental health disorders.

“We have to look into what is being prescribed and what is in these meds just like clinical studies. Why don’t we do studies on the medication all of these shooters were taking and take that medication off the market? Obviously, medications can alter your mind just as alcohol can alter the mind,” said Fiore.

Though it is not yet known whether the perpetrator in last week’s tragic shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon was on psychiatric medication, early reports from The Oregonian note that he identified himself by the social media screen name “lithium love,” he mentioned anger and depression in a note that was found in connection with the attack, and he had a long history of behavioral problems in school.

He had also been discharged by the U.S. Army midway through basic training in 2008 and graduated from a school that The Oregonian described as “geared for special education students with a range of issues from learning disabilities, health problems and autism or Asperger’s Disorder.”

In August of this year, a CBS46 Atlanta Reality Check report by Ben Swann raised questions about the possibility of a connection between mass murderers and pharmaceutical drugs used to treat mental health disorders, noting that 26 high-profile perpetrators had been taking psychiatric medication.

CO-PILOT SEVERELY DEPRESSED – DRUG COMPANIES ARE TO BLAME

Looks like I was right again. Now the cover-up will begin. The U.S. corporate media is not reporting the fact that anti-depression drugs are the cause of this crash. The drug companies know their drugs result in mass murder, suicide, and ruining people’s lives, but they are the major advertisers on the mainstream media and the media whores will cover-up these facts to keep profits flowing. The drug companies are also huge contributors to politicians, who will never ask the tough questions about these drugs.

Will they report the drugs this guy was on? We know the U.S. media will not. Maybe the German media has more credibility and will report the truth. But, I doubt it.

Germanwings crash: Co-pilot ‘treated for depression’

The man suspected of deliberately crashing a Germanwings A320 plane in the French Alps required treatment for depression, German media say.

Regular assessments were recommended in Andreas Lubitz’s official notes after a serious episode some years ago.

The Barcelona-Duesseldorf plane crashed on Tuesday, killing 150 people.

Data from the plane’s voice recorder suggest Mr Lubitz purposely started a descent as the pilot was locked out of the cockpit.

Several airlines have now pledged to change their rules to ensure at least two crew members are present in the cockpit at all times.

Police have searched two German properties used by Mr Lubitz, taking away boxes and a computer.

‘Heavily depressive’

When Mr Lubitz finished training in 2009, he was diagnosed with a serious depressive episode and went on to receive treatment for a year and a half, the German news site Bild reports.

Internal documents quoted by Bild and German broadcaster ARD say a note on Mr Lubitz’s aviation authority file recommended regular psychological assessment.

Who was Andreas Lubitz?

Mr Lubitz’s employers have confirmed that his training was interrupted for several months six years ago.

But they have not said why. Carsten Spohr – the head of Lufthansa, the German carrier that owns Germanwings – said on Thursday that Mr Lubitz was only able to resume training after his suitability was “re-established”.

“He passed all the subsequent tests and checks with flying colours,” Mr Spohr was quoted as saying.

German media are also reporting that investigators have found evidence of mental health problems at Mr Lubitz’s Duesseldorf flat.

Earlier, another media report quoted a police spokesman as saying “a very significant clue as to what has happened” had been found during the search of the house the 27-year-old shared with his parents in Montabaur, north of Frankfurt, without specifying what.

Police said the discovery was not a suicide note.

French Prime Minister Manual Valls said the investigation was ongoing, but that “everything is pointing to a criminal, crazy, suicidal action that we cannot comprehend”.

He said investigators and Lufthansa would have to “shed light on the career and profile of this pilot”.

Police continued to come and go at the Montabaur house throughout Thursday morning, reports the BBC’s Anna Holligan who is outside.

She says there are concerns for Mr Lubitz’s parents, who have suffered not just one trauma – their son dying in a crash – but the subsequent shock of finding out he may have been responsible for the tragedy.

FOURTH TURNING – THE SHADOW OF CRISIS HAS NOT PASSED – PART TWO

In Part One of this article I laid the groundwork of the Fourth Turning generational theory. I refuted President Obama’s claim that the shadow of crisis has passed. The shadow grows ever larger and will engulf the world in darkness in the coming years. The Crisis will be fueled by the worsening debt, civic decay and global disorder. I will address these issues in this article.

Debt, Civic Decay & Global Disorder

The core elements propelling this Crisis – debt, civic decay, and global disorder – were obvious over a decade before the financial meltdown catalyst sparked this ongoing two decade long Crisis. With the following issues unresolved, the shadow of this crisis has only grown larger and more ominous:

Debt

The national debt has risen by $7 trillion (64%) to $18.1 trillion since 2009 and continues to accelerate by $2.3 billion per day, on track to surpass $20 trillion before Obama leaves office and $25 trillion by 2019.

The national debt as a percentage of GDP is currently 103% (it would be 106% if the BEA hadn’t decided to positively “adjust” GDP up by $500 billion last year). It is on course to reach 120% by 2019. Rogoff and Reinhart have documented the fact countries that surpass 90% experience economic turmoil, decline, and ultimately currency collapse and debt default.
Despite the housing collapse and hundreds of billions in mortgage, credit card, auto, and corporate debt being written off, dumped on the backs of taxpayers and hidden on the Federal Reserve balance sheet, total credit market debt has reached a new high of $58 trillion.

Harvard professor Laurence Kotlikoff has been a lone voice telling the truth about the true level of unfunded promises hidden in the CBO numbers. The unfunded social welfare liabilities in excess of $200 trillion for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare are nothing but a massive future tax increase on younger and unborn generations. Kotlikoff explains what would be required to pay these obligations:

“To honor these obligations we could (a) raise all federal taxes, immediately and permanently, by 57%, (b) cut all federal spending, apart from interest on the debt, by 37%, immediately and permanently, or (c) do some combination of (a) and (b).”

The level of taxation and/or Federal Reserve created inflation necessary to honor these politician promises is too large to be considered feasible. Therefore, these promises, made to get corrupt political hacks elected to public office, will be defaulted upon.

Mental Illness and Mass Killings

As usual, no mention of the drugs peddled by mega-corporations to children and young adults contributing to the rash of mass murders. We wouldn’t want to upset that advertising revenue that keeps the mainstream media afloat.

If only gun bans or background checks could have kept Elliot Rodger from murdering six innocent people.

He passed three background checks for gun purchases despite having seen mental health counselors for years. This in a state where people are banned from having access to a gun if they are institutionalized, even briefly, or make specific threats while in counseling with a psychologist, psychiatrist or licensed therapeutic counselor.

Sadly, supposed adults around the country publicly sought other people and objects to blame for this tragedy.

Predictably, politicians and liberal media pundits came out screaming about guns, somehow overlooking the fact that Elliot killed his first three victims with a knife and planned more carnage by using his car as a weapon.

A reactionary, emotional columnist at the New York Daily News went so far as to blame the NRA for Elliot’s murderous rampage.

An equally reactionary, emotional Ann Hornady at the Washington Post blamed Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow for the killings based on their sophomoric comedic movies.

Rep. Peter King (R) of New York fulminated over the failures of congress to pass a background check law while Elliot passed California’s background checks.

Liberal media all across the nation trumpeted banning guns, which has already been tried in Chicago and Washington D.C., where gun bans resulted in more gun violence.

Some people blame the police who interviewed Elliot at the request of his father because Elliot was able to charm the police. The police had no probable cause to search his apartment.

It also wasn’t their job to look at his videos, according to forensic psychologist Dr. Katherine Ramsland. They did their duty.

Dr. Ramsland is a university professor of forensic psychology who also teaches criminal justice. She holds a master’s in forensic psychology, a master’s in clinical psychology and a master’s in criminal justice. She had written 50 books and 1,000′s of articles.

Since we would all like to prevent tragedies like this from occurring, I asked Dr. Ramsland how it might be done.

She says not all anti-social behavior is potentially deadly. Killers like Rodger and Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook Elementary School) often have a multitude of mental afflictions. And while both have been reported to have Asperger’s syndrome, people who happen to have some level of Asperger’s are not violent. They may get as frustrated as anyone else who having trouble communicating, but it is not an indicator of any violent behavior.

When someone does make specific threats against specific people or targets, especially indicating specific times for the attacks, that is when friends, family or acquaintances should immediately seek professional help for that person before they cause harm.

Someone without the professional training should not try to counsel the person themselves.

Elliot’s parents followed that prescription at least twice.

Dr. Ramsland advice is sound and unsatisfying to those who seek simple solutions such as banning inanimate objects or institutionalizing everyone who exhibits behavior they find troubling.

Among the families suffering the wrenching, senseless loss of their loved ones’ lives are the parents of Elliot who have been wrestling with their son’s mental illness for years. They were the first to reach out to police through a mental health hotline back in April when they discovered his disturbing videos.

Elliot Rodger’s father, Peter, is correct in his tearful statement that more needs to be learned and publicized about mental illnesses.

We can ban cars and guns and knives all we like but the illness seeking its devastating outlet remains, finding other tools to achieve its deadly desire.

WHICH DRUG COMPANY KILLED THE 12 PEOPLE AT THE D.C. NAVY YARD?

The corporate mainstream media has no interest in the truth. They are corporations who care about the bottom line. Aaron Alexis was taking drugs created by one of the massive drug conglomerates for his mental disorder. The dude in Aurora was on drugs created by one of the humungous drug companies. The guy in Tucson was taking drugs invented by one of these multi-billion dollar institutions. The teenagers at Columbine were on psychiatric drugs. The fact is that these drugs produce the violent crazed outbursts of these killers. Supposedly mild dosages of sleep drugs like Ambien can scramble your mental faculties. These psychotropic drugs are 100 times more powerful. The drug companies and their paid off doctor cronies are prescribing these drugs to millions of Americans and the true impact is being covered up by the corporate media and the medical industrial complex. The corporate mass media will gladly sacrifice truth and journalistic integrity in order to keep the billions in advertising dollars from these scumbag drug cartels.

A real journalist would be able to find out which drug company is responsible for the 12 deaths this week and shout it from the mountaintop. Don’t count on CNN, MSNBC, Fox or any of the faux journalists in the MSM to kill their advertising golden goose. This is just free market capitalism at its best.

Media Buries Psychiatric Drug Connection to Navy Shooter

Networks don’t want to risk losing $2.4 billion in ad revenue from pharmaceutical giants

Despite every indication that Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis was on SSRI drugs that have been linked to dozens of previous mass shootings, the mainstream media has once again avoided all discussion of the issue, preferring instead to blame the tragedy on a non-existent AR-15 that the gunman didn’t even use.

We now know that Alexis “had been treated since August by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems.”

As Mike Adams points out, “This is proof that Aaron Alexis was on psychiatric drugs, because that’s the only treatment currently being offered by the Veterans Administration for mental problems. Alexis’ family members also confirmed to the press that he was being “treated” for his mental health problems. Across the medical industry, “treatment” is the code word for psychiatric drugging.”

Alexis also suffered from PTSD, blackouts and anger issues – all of which are treated with SSRI drugs. The most common form of treatment for PTSD is Paroxetine, which is listed as the number 3 top violence-causing drug by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP).

The Navy Yard shooter was clearly on some form of psychiatric drug, but the media has shown no interest in discovering its identity.

Despite it being reported that prescription drugs were found in the apartment of ‘Batman’ shooter James Holmes days after the Aurora massacre, it took nine months to find out exactly what those drugs were. Like Columbine killer Eric Harris, Holmes had been taking Zoloft, another SSRI drug linked with violent outbursts.

The length of time it took to find out that Holmes was on Zoloft was partly because the media habitually shows zero interest in pursuing the link between anti-depressants and violence.

As the website SSRI Stories profusely documents, there are literally hundreds of examples of mass shootings, murders and other violent episodes that have been committed by individuals on psychiatric drugs over the past three decades. The number of cases is staggering.

Why is the corporate media so disinterested in pursuing this clear connection?

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that the pharmaceutical giants who produce drugs like Zoloft, Prozac and Paxil spend around $2.4 billion dollars a year on direct-to-consumer television advertising every year. By running negative stories about prescription drugs, networks risk losing tens of millions of dollars in ad revenue.

While failing to ask questions about what SSRI drugs Aaron Alexis was taking prior to his rampage, the media instead blamed the shooting on assault rifles, even after it had been confirmed that no AR-15 was used by Alexis during the massacre.

FBI assistant director Victoria Parlave stated at a press conference on Tuesday that authorities, “do not have any information at this time that [Alexis] had an AR-15 in his possession.”

Despite there being no evidence that an AR-15 was used, the New York Daily News ran a front page headline yesterday morning entitled, “Same Gun Different Slay,” next to a picture of an assault rifle.

Hours after the FBI stated that no AR-15 had been used, MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, who previously blamed the Boston bombings on Alex Jones, continued to use an animated graphic depicting Alexis carrying an assault rifle during the massacre.

Anti-second amendment crusader Piers Morgan also erroneously blamed the shooting on “a man with a legally purchased AR-15, who just committed the same kind of atrocity as we saw at Sandy Hook, and Aurora,” during his CNN show on Monday.

CNN’s live news coverage also reported that Alexis had “recently purchased (an) AR-15 shotgun,” when in fact that purchase had been denied.

Both the New York Times and the Washington Post also falsely reported that an AR-15 had been found on Alexis after the massacre.

D.C. gun grabbers Dianne Feinstein and Dick Durbin also regurgitated the false claim that Alexis used an AR-15 during the rampage.

The U.S. press has once again behaved like state media in the aftermath of the Navy Yard shooting by pursuing the assault rifle angle – despite the fact that it was patently false – in order to bolster the White House’s gun control agenda.

In doing so, they have concurrently buried an integral aspect of mass shootings that needs to be highlighted as part of a national conversation – the clear connection between violent outbursts and SSRI drugs.
