RISE TO REBELLION – A FOURTH TURNING PERSPECTIVE

“I do not say that democracy has been more pernicious on the whole, and in the long run, than monarchy or aristocracy. Democracy has never been and never can be so durable as aristocracy or monarchy; but while it lasts, it is more bloody than either. … Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy. It is not true, in fact, and nowhere appears in history. Those passions are the same in all men, under all forms of simple government, and when unchecked, produce the same effects of fraud, violence, and cruelty. When clear prospects are opened before vanity, pride, avarice, or ambition, for their easy gratification, it is hard for the most considerate philosophers and the most conscientious moralists to resist the temptation.” John Adams

“A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” John Adams

I have bookshelves filled with books I haven’t read yet. I’m a collector of books who doesn’t have much time to read but plans to spend my waning years catching up on all the reading I’ve been unable to do while working, blogging, and raising a family. Still, I always have one or two books on my nightstand being read in fits and starts. After finishing a Grisham novel, I sought another book to occupy my time from my living room bookshelf. I grabbed Rise to Rebellion, a Jeff Shaara historical novel I had purchased at a used bookstore in Wildwood, NJ many years ago.

I don’t know why I chose that book from the dozens of options on the bookshelf, but it seems to have been a wise choice given the current state of affairs in the world. I always find the wisdom and courage of our founding fathers to be a beacon of light in the darkness slowly engulfing the world as we approach the denouement of this Fourth Turning, the fourth, and hopefully not last, in U.S. history. Probably without knowing it, most of Shaara’s historical novels revolved around events during the first three Fourth Turnings.

Doug Casey’s REAL State of the Union: The First Amendment

Via International Man

Joel Bowman: Good morning, Doug. Thanks for taking the time to talk. Where in the world do we find you today?

Doug Casey: In Argentina. A good place to be when the weather turns nasty in Colorado. But not, in recent years, a place where the government would often agree with the concepts we’ll be discussing in the weeks to come…

JB: Agreed. On just that point, today we’re kicking off the first in a series of conversations regarding the real state of the union, whereby we’ll go through the first ten amendments to the Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, and see how the United States scores against the ideals laid out by its own founding documents. Would you like to get the ball rolling for us?

DC: Sure thing. The Bill of Rights is one of the most important—perhaps the most important—political documents ever written. It’s the first time, to my knowledge, the rights of an individual were spelled out clearly, and the actions of the State clearly limited. Of course there’s the English Magna Carta. But it dealt with only a few rights for a few people.

I’m not a great fan of the Constitution itself. The case can be made that it was the result of a coup d’etat—as shocking as that may be for the average American to hear. The constitutional convention was meant only to amend some problems with the Articles of Confederation, not discard the whole document.

And the Constitution basically concerns itself only with how the government is run—structure, powers, and trivia like the Vice-President breaking ties in the Senate.

However only the Bill of Rights legally guarantees the rights of the individual against the State. Perversely, it’s been greatly weakened in that role. While it’s now heavily applied against other individuals, companies, and local governments—when it was strictly a compact regarding the national government.

Posting articles online, especially for readers of high intelligence, can be quite a balancing act.  In fact, with certain topics, it is like walking a tightrope while wearing ice-skates in a crosswind.  At times, the tightrope represents the delicate balance between the cerebral hemispheres.  According to Left- Brain Right-Brain Theory, the left-brained technicians incline towards logic, analysis, and objectivity, and the right-brained artisans are intuitive, subjective, and romantic.

Although I can play either side, I personally favor the creative aspects of artistic, conceptual visualization. This may be why left-brained people rarely get my jokes. For instance, if I wrote how mechanical engineers design weapons and civil engineers design targets, there would be comments in the ensuing thread informing me that both types of engineers design FAR more than just those two categories.  Even more importantly, extreme caution must be applied to never get the science wrong, ever.  Make one mistake and medieval heretics burned at the stake will gaze up from hell and say:  “There but for the grace of God, go we” as the left-brainers, with smoking pens in melted shirt pocket-protectors, dance upon my ashes.

So it’s a fine line.

Washington Stomps on Civil Liberty

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

The insouciant American electorate is so inattentive that it routinely elects enemies of civil liberty to represent the public in Congress. Last Wednesday Rep. Adam Schiff (D, CA), Rep. Trey Gowdy ( R, SC), Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D, CA), Sen. Mark Warner (D, VA), Rep. Jackie Speier (D, CA), Sen. Tom Cotton (R , AR ), and Rep. Joaquin Castro (D, TX) tried to intimidate executives from Facebook, Twitter, and Google into blocking all digital dissent to the anti-Trump/Russian line taken by the DNC and military/secrurity complex and to serve as spy agencies for the CIA.

Misguided Legislation Is Directly Repugnant to the First Amendment

Guest Post by Jesse

I personally do not boycott the state of Israel, or have any interest in doing so.However, this proposed legislation, co-sponsored by prominent Democrats and Republicans, is a direct assault on the Constitutional Rights of Americans to express their political beliefs.

It also conflates and dilutes the principled stand against anti-semitism and other forms of prejudice, which I strongly support as you know, with economic and political support for a particular government, its political actions and its domestic and international policies. That too carries its own dangers.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

“The older I grow, the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom.” –  H.L. Mencken

“The older I get the less I listen to what people say and the more I look at what they do.”Andrew Carnegie

I’m 53 years old. The older I get the less sure I am about things I was sure about when I was 25 years old. I believed stocks for the long run was an unquestioned truth. I believed our economy was based on free market capitalism. I believed stock prices were based upon profits and cash flows. I believed a home was a place to live – not an investment. I believed the Catholic Church was run by good men doing good things. I believed journalists and the media were watchdogs working on behalf of the public. I believed our military was protecting our interests. I believed politicians legislated on behalf of the people. I believed the main purpose of bankers was to loan money to businesses and consumers in order to support economic growth. Boy, was I dumbass.

My skeptical nature, reliance on data I’ve personally vetted, and judging our leaders based on what they have done versus what they say, has allowed me to escape the Matrix. I wasn’t truly awakened until I watched Bush, Cheney, Powell, the rest of the neo-con prevaricators and fake news mainstream media utilize propaganda to railroad Americans into a $6 trillion unnecessary war, resulting in 36,000 American casualties, the destruction of a country and the creation of thousands of new Muslim terrorists.

War on ‘Fake News’ Part of a War on Free Speech

undefined

A major threat to liberty is the assault on the right to discuss political issues, seek out alternative information sources, and promote dissenting ideas and causes such as non-interventionism in foreign and domestic affairs. If this ongoing assault on free speech succeeds, then all of our liberties are endangered.

One of the most common assaults on the First Amendment is the attempt to force public policy organizations to disclose their donors. Regardless of the intent of these laws, the effect is to subject supporters of controversial causes to harassment, or worse. This harassment makes other potential donors afraid to support organizations opposing a popular war or defending the rights of an unpopular group.

THE SPECIAL SNOWFLAKES AT WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY ARE HIDING FROM TRUMP

Avalon has waded into the fray. She and her two best friends are at West Chester University today to attend a Donald Trump rally. The Donald is supposed to speak at 4:00 pm. I told her to start some trouble with the Black Thugs Matter protestors who are sure to be there. I want to see her on CNN. Her journalistic assignment for TBP is to record interesting aspects of the Trump phenomena and feed them to me instantaneously, so I can post them in this thread.

Here is the first observation on campus. It seems the petrified special snowflakes are frightened by big bad Donald and are seeking safety in the office of the president. These pussies don’t feel safe around displays of the First Amendment. Imagine when these snowflakes have to make their way in the real world. With their liberal arts degrees in hand, they will feel unsafe as they man the drive thru window at Burger King or when a patron sends back a burger at TGI Fridays because it is too rare.

Remember when kids this age stormed the beaches of Normandy or got mowed down by the National Guard for protesting the Vietnam War? Now they whimper and hide in safe spaces.

Houses on campus with anti-Trump signs

Yuuge lines forming to see Trump

Black Thugs Matter to Soros idiots are there.

Massive crowds and now riot police.

Free Speech or Hate Speech? I’ll Take Both, Thanks

Guest Post by Jim Goad

Free Speech or Hate Speech? I’ll Take Both, Thanks

Every so often the leftist dogma machine will spit out a mantra so innately nonsensical that it’s hard not to scream.

The ludicrous idea that “rape has nothing to do with sex” has been drilled so diligently into the rubes’ empty, medicated heads, they’re able to look away from all those problematic penises and vaginas.

If you keep lecturing them that “race is a social construct” but that “racism” is everywhere, not only will they blindly swallow such self-contradictory idiocy, they’ll call you stupid for not dutifully playing along.

Such self-replicating slogans are not eternal truths, because the truth is required to be logically consistent. They are more like Zen koans—self-contradictory and designed to free you from logic’s oppressive shackles. They are the theoretical version of one hand clapping.

And so it goes with another meme that has become disturbingly prevalent of late—this warped, crippled idea that there’s some innate schism between “free speech” and “hate speech” and that the terms are mutually exclusive.

“Hate Speech” is Not the Same as “Free Speech” blares the idiotic headline from Daily Kos, blithely trouncing upon the very meaning of the word “free.”

Hillary Clinton Needs a Safe Space – Aides Demand Comedy Club Remove Video Making Fun of Her

Guest Post by Michael Krieger

Screen Shot 2015-11-19 at 11.40.08 AM

The one upside of Hillary Clinton becoming President, is that her endless stream of stupidity will result in more content for this writer than I could ever imagine.

Hot off her recent debate performance in which she claimed that the reason she is owned by Wall Street is because of 9/11, her aides are now demanding a Hollywood comedy club take down a video of comedians mocking her.

Just in case you have any doubt about what a Hillary presidency would look like, we learn from Judicial Watch:

In what appears to be a first for a serious presidential contender, Hillary Clinton’s campaign is going after five comedians who made fun of the former Secretary of State in standup skits at a popular Hollywood comedy club.

video of the short performance, which is less than three minutes, is posted on the website of the renowned club, Laugh Factory, and the Clinton campaign has tried to censor it. Besides demanding that the video be taken down, the Clinton campaign has demanded the personal contact information of the performers that appear in the recording. This is no laughing matter for club owner Jamie Masada, a comedy guru who opened Laugh Factory more than three decades ago and has been instrumental in launching the careers of many famous comics. “They threatened me,” Masada told Judicial Watch. “I have received complains before but never a call like this, threatening to put me out of business if I don’t cut the video.”

Masada told Judicial Watch that, as soon as the video got posted on the Laugh Factory website, he received a phone call from a “prominent” person inside Clinton’s campaign. “He said the video was disgusting and asked who put me up to this,” Masada said. The Clinton staffer, who Masada did not want to identify, also demanded to know the names and phone numbers of the comedians that appear in the video. Masada refused and hung up. He insists that the comedy stage is a sanctuary for freedom of speech no matter who is offended. “Just last night we had (Emmy-award winner) Dana Carvey doing Donald Trump and it was hilarious,” Masada said.

Now watch the video, accurately titled: Hillary Clinton vs. the First Amendment

FACEBOOK NAZIS CENSOR CRY BULLIES CARTOON

Evidently Zuckerburg and his band of NSA collaborators don’t care too much about free speech. Banning dissenting opinion is a Nazi tactic. Facebook is pure evil. Do everything you can to destroy them. Zuckerburg and his minions are left wing collectivist scumbags.
