ADMIN’S HORRIFIC COMMUTE MAY BE OVER

It’s about time the Jetsons finally became a reality. I’ll take off on the farm road near my house and attempt to land in West Philly without getting shot down by crack dealers.

AeroMobil 3.0, the world’s first production-ready ‘flying car,’ soared the skies above Airport Nitra in Slovakia on the test and promo flight.

It is capable of fitting into standard parking spaces, suitable for any airstrip in the world, and can take off and land on grass strip or paved surface.

The vehicle is powered by a Rotax 912 engine and can reach speeds of up to 200 kph (125 mph) in the air, and 160 kph (100 mph) on land. Consuming 15 litres (4 gallons) per hour for flying, and 12.5 km/l while driving, the car runs on standard petrol and can be tanked at any petrol station.

The video was released as the vehicle grand unveiling took place at the Pioneers festival in Vienna on Wednesday.
