New Study Of Aging Finds Old People Are Liars

Via ZeroHedge

Science has given us another thing not to trust; the elderly – who apparently lie all the time about how old they are.

According to a new working paper by researchers at the Biological Data Science Institute at Australian National University, “supercentenarians” – those over 110-years-old, have a habit of bullshitting about their age.

The conclusion – yet to undergo peer review – was reached by ANU scientist Saul Justin Newman after a thorough examination of birth records in various states which began reliably keeping them yielded a 69% – 82% drop in the number of supercentenarians.

CNN, Credibly Accused of Lying to its Audience About a Key Claim in its Blockbuster Cohen Story, Refuses to Comment

Guest Post by Glenn Greenwald

CNN’s blockbuster July 26 story – that Michael Cohen intended to tell Special Counsel Robert Mueller that he was present when Donald Trump was told in advance about his son’s Trump Tower meeting with various Russians – includes a key statement about its sourcing that credible reporting now suggests were designed to have misled its audience. Yet CNN simply refuses to address the serious ethical and journalistic questions raised about its conduct.

The substance of the CNN story itself regarding Cohen – which made headline news all over all the world and which CNN hyped as a “bombshell” – has now been retracted by other news outlets that originally purported to “confirm” CNN’s story. That’s because the anonymous source for this confirmation, Cohen lawyer Lanny Davis, now admits that, in essence, his “confirmation” was false. As a result, both the Washington Post and the NY Post outed Davis as their anonymous source and then effectively retracted their stories “confirming” parts of CNN’s report.

Bill Clinton Says Haiti Relief Funds Didn’t Pay for Chelsea’s Wedding… Then Wikileaks Drops This Bomb

Via Gateway Pundit

Former president Bill Clinton lashed out on Twitter this weekend refuting reports that claim Clinton Foundation donations paid for Chelsea Clinton’s wedding.

Bill Clinton tweeted,

“No Clinton Foundation funds—dedicated to Haiti or otherwise—were used to pay for Chelsea’s wedding. It’s not only untrue, it’s a personal insult to me, to Hillary, and to Chelsea and Marc.”

Attached to Bill Clinton’s tweet is a Washington Post ‘fact checker’ titled, “Did The Clinton Foundation Pay For Chelsea’s Wedding?”

That’s when Wikileaks jumped in to remind the world they have email proof that the Clintons did in fact pay for Chelsea’s wedding with Haiti relief funds.

You Can Tell What Leftists Are Doing By What They Accuse Conservatives Of Doing

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

Suddenly the Democrats are coming out against their classic moves like cavorting with Russians to hack American elections and perjury (like you need a link), so who knows which of their foundational principles they will pull a 180 on and betray next: Climate scams? Free money for deadbeats? Jane Fonda?

But they don’t really mean it – hell, without perjury they could never testify to anything. If you want to know what the liberals are up to, just listen to the lies they are telling about conservatives. They used to be able to get away with it too, but thanks to the interwebs Al Gore invented between buffet deep dives and sweaty masseuse gropes, the political playing field for liberal liars is now covered in rakes.

Are Americans Racists?

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

“Racist” is the favorite epithet of the left. Every white person (except leftists) is a racist by definition. As we are defined as racists based on our skin color, I am puzzled why we are called racists a second, third, and fourth time due to specific acts, such as favoring the enforcement of immigration laws. For example, President Donald Trump says he is going to enforce the immigration laws. For the left this is proof that Trump has put on the White Sheet and joined the KKK.

The left doesn’t say what a president is who does not enforce the laws on the books. But let’s look at this from the standpoint of the immigration laws themselves. In 1965 a bill passed by the “racist” Congress and signed by the “racist” President Lyndon Johnson completely changed the racial composition of US legal immigration.

In 1960 75% of US legal immigration was European, 5% was Asian, and 19% was from Americas (Mexico, Central and South America and Caribbean Islands).

In 2013 10% of legal immigrants were European, 30% were Asian, 55% were from Americas, and 5% from Africa. http://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/fifty-years-1965-immigration-and-nationality-act-continues-reshape-united-states

IKEA PRODUCTS KILL AMERICAN CHILDREN

It seems IKEA has decided to “voluntarily” recall 36 million of their shit particle board, slave labor produced products. All it took was the deaths of six innocent children and the government threatening legal action. Executives from IKEA should be prosecuted. They’ve known these products were defective since the early 1990s. I was in the corporate office in the early 1990s when the first child was killed when one of their cheap shabbily made drawers fell on the child. My boss, Mike McDonald, was the CFO and negotiated the payout to the family.

When the top drawers of these crap units are pulled out, the drawer unit falls over. IKEA then started giving out straps to secure the units to the wall, rather than fix the defect. Profits matter more to this “social responsible” company than the lives of children. They’ve been caught using child labor in India to make their rugs. They push the limits of tax laws to avoid taxes. Their products had formaldehyde in them until they were forced to stop.

They still deny responsibility for killing these kids. What a great company.

IKEA recalls 36 million chests and dressers after six deaths

Swedish furniture company IKEA Group [IKEA.UL] is recalling almost 36 million chests and dressers in the United States and Canada but said the products linked to the deaths of six children are safe when anchored to walls as instructed.

The recall covers six models of MALM chests or dressers manufactured from 2002 to 2016 and about 100 other families of chests or dressers that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said could topple over if not anchored securely to walls, posing a threat to children.

18 spectacularly wrong apocalyptic predictions made around the time of the first Earth Day in 1970, expect more this year

In the May 2000 issue of Reason Magazine, award-winning science correspondent Ronald Bailey wrote an excellent article titled “Earth Day, Then and Now” to provide some historical perspective on the 30th anniversary of Earth Day. In that article, Bailey noted that around the time of the first Earth Day, and in the years following, there was a “torrent of apocalyptic predictions” and many of those predictions were featured in his Reason article. Well, it’s now the 45th anniversary of  Earth Day, and a good time to ask the question again that Bailey asked 15 years ago: How accurate were the predictions made around the time of the first Earth Day in 1970? The answer: “The prophets of doom were not simply wrong, but spectacularly wrong,” according to Bailey. Here are 18 examples of the spectacularly wrong predictions made around 1970 when the “green holy day” (aka Earth Day) started:

1. Harvard biologist George Wald estimated that “civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”

2. “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation,” wrote Washington University biologist Barry Commoner in the Earth Day issue of the scholarly journal Environment.

3. The day after the first Earth Day, the New York Times editorial page warned, “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.”

4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make,” Paul Ehrlich confidently declared in the April 1970 Mademoiselle. “The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”

HOUSING STARTS SUCK – WALL STREET SHYSTERS LIE

Housing starts missed by a mile in March. The Wall Street shyster economists missed their forecasts by 14%. Not bad for their $1 million salaries. Even though they knew the weather in March, they predicted a 16% jump in starts. Not only were starts crappy versus February, but they were even 2.5% lower than last March. Temperatures in the U.S. were well above normal this year, versus well below normal during the polar vortex winter of 2014. I wonder how you can blame the weather for the 5.7% decline in housing permits.

Of course, one of the slimiest of the Wall Street slimeballs immediately tweeted that it was certainly the weather which foiled his forecast. The ground was frozen during the above average temperature March.

One little problem with Joey boys analysis:

East – Housing starts up 114.9%

Midwest – Housing starts up 100%

South – Housing starts down 3.5%

West – Housing starts down 19.3%

TRUST WALL STREET & THEIR MSM LACKEYS THIS TIME

The stock market topped out in January 2000 and proceeded to fall 40% over the next 32 months. Here is what the “experts” had to say at the time. You could fast forward to 2007 and the same idiots were saying the same things, before the market proceeded to drop 50%. Turn on CNBC today and many of these same shills are mouthing the same gibberish. At least they are consistent assholes.

March 1999: Harry S. Dent, author of “The Roaring 2000s.” “There has been a paradigm shift.” Poor Harry, the New Economy arrived, so did a long recession.

August 1999: Charles Kadlec, author, “Dow 100,000.” “The DJIA will reach 100,000 in 2020 after “two decades of above-average economic growth with price stability.”

October 1999: James Glassman, author, “Dow 36,000.” “What is dangerous is for Americans not to be in the market. We’re going to reach a point where stocks are correctly priced … it’s not a bubble … The stock market is undervalued.”

December 1999: Joseph Battipaglia, market analyst. “Some fear a burst Internet bubble, but our analysis shows that Internet companies … carry expected long-term growth rates twice other rapidly growing segments within tech.”

December 1999: Larry Wachtel, Prudential. “Most of these stocks are reasonably priced. There’s no reason for them to correct violently in the year 2000.” Nasdaq lost over 50%.

December 1999: Ralph Acampora, Prudential Securities. “I’m not saying this is a straight line up. … I’m saying any kind of declines, buy them!”

February 2000: Larry Kudlow, CNBC host. “This correction will run its course until the middle of the year. Then things will pick up again, because not even Greenspan can stop the Internet economy.”

April 2000: Myron Kandel, CNN. “The bottom line is in, before the end of the year, the Nasdaq and Dow will be at new record highs.”

September 2000: Jim Cramer, host of “Mad Money” on CNBC. Sun Microsystems “has the best near-term outlook of any company I know.” It dropped from $60 to below $3 in two years.

What Do We Call Media Fraudsters And Hucksters?

 Guest Post by Karl Denniger
Time to increase my long pitchforks, torches, lamposts and boiled rope trade, I suspect.

The words are hurled around like epithets.

People who reject the findings of climate science are dismissed as “deniers” and “disinformers.” Those who accept the science are attacked as “alarmists” or “warmistas. ” The latter term, evoking the Sandinista revolutionaries of Nicaragua, is perhaps meant to suggest that the science is part of some socialist plot.

In the long-running political battles over climate change, the fight about what to call the various factions has been going on for a long time. Recently, though, the issue has taken a new turn, with a public appeal that has garnered 22,000 signatures and counting.

The petition asks the news media to abandon the most frequently used term for people who question climate science, “skeptic,” and call them “climate deniers” instead.

Yes, and the so-called “climate denier” label is intended to evoke The Holocaust, which is an outrageous and intentional appeal to a factually-known act of mass-murder that left a few million skeletons behind as evidence.

The problem with so-called “climate science” is that it’s not science at all; it’s hucksterism and fraud.  Let’s look at a few (and only a few!) of the problems that the so-called “climate change” people peddle.

1. It was called “global warming”, but when the warming stopped and failed to verify against the claims of their computer models for 15 years running they changed their name.  That’s fraud.

2. Only something like 3% of the surface of the earth has a temperature probe covering a place in the immediate vicinity.  That’s a lack of data.
