SUMMER THROWBACK: DUMBASS FAT CAT, CRAZY LADY, & SECTION 8 AT THE BEACH

Today we are headed to Wildwood for our annual vacation. The start of summer wouldn’t be complete without a reposting of this TBP classic from 2011.

UPDATE 2020:  Fat Moe’s days at the shore are over. He left for the big litter box in the sky. The Section 8 couple, skinny Mike and Fat Foul Mouthed Joyce broke up when Mike was sent to State Prison for selling heroin in a school zone. She immediately shacked up with a huge black dude who ended up taking her away to Florida.

We sold the condo in January 2019, so no more Section 8 stories. It was an interesting 12 years as a condo owner. Now we’re just renters.

UPDATE 2021: My real estate acumen has been proven once again. We had the condo up for sale for 3 years without a nibble from 2016 through 2018. We finally sold it for $240,000 – an $85,000 loss after 12 years. The condo above ours just sold for $389,000, two years after we sold. At least I got that big tax writeoff.

Update 2022: Condo in my old complex sold for $489,000 in the last few months.

Enjoy

DUMBASS FAT CAT, CRAZY LADY, & SECTION 8 AT THE BEACH

The start of summer wouldn’t be complete without a reposting of this TBP classic from 2011. When I re-read the story and the comments, I miss AWD more than ever. His last comment ever on TBP to me was to have fun in Wildwood.

I bet you’ve been waiting for another cat story. Well this one doesn’t involve my dumbass cats. The start of my vacation didn’t exactly go the way I wanted. I worked until 5:00 pm last Friday. Avalon headed down with the kids and the cats earlier in the day. I had to go pick up my mother and her fat cat after work to bring them down. I bet you are all jealous. Avalon, my three kids, one friend, one girlfriend, a mother, and three cats in my one floor condo. Sounds relaxing, doesn’t it.

My mother’s cat is the size of a freaking house. She says he is just big boned.

white fat cat

We had to practically pry him into his cat carrier for the 2 hour trip to Wildwood. This cat never meows, according to my mother. Well, from the second I put him in my little Honda Insight, this cat never shut the f#$k up. He meowed non-stop the entire trip. We figured out why he was meowing about 45 minutes into the trip when the aroma of cat piss started wafting through my very tiny car. This was supposed to be the start of my relaxing vacation and my blood pressure was rising by the second.

Obama’s last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy

Guest Post by Paul Sperry

Obama’s last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy

President Barack Obama and Housing Secretary Julian Castro

Hillary’s rumored running mate, Housing Secretary Julian Castro, is cooking up a scheme to reallocate funding for Section 8 housing to punish suburbs for being too white and too wealthy.

The scheme involves super-sizing vouchers to help urban poor afford higher rents in pricey areas, such as Westchester County, while assigning them government real estate agents called “mobility counselors” to secure housing in the exurbs.

Castro plans to launch the Section 8 reboot this fall, even though a similar program tested a few years ago in Dallas has been blamed for shifting violent crime to affluent neighborhoods.

It’s all part of a grand scheme to forcibly desegregate inner cities and integrate the outer suburbs.

Anticipating NIMBY resistance, Castro last month threatened to sue suburban landlords for discrimination if they refuse even Section 8 tenants with criminal records. And last year, he implemented a powerful new regulation — “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” — that pressures all suburban counties taking federal grant money to change local zoning laws to build more low-income housing (landlords of such properties are required to accept Section 8 vouchers).

GONE FISHIN

It’s time for my annual trek to Wildwood to mingle with the obese tattooed masses. My posts will be sporadic as I ride my bike, take my son and his friend deep sea fishing, read a book on the deck, sit on the beach, walk on the boardwalk with Avalon, drink heavily at the Shamrock, recover from nights at the Shamrock, listen to my mom tell me the same story for the 4th time, and learn some new curse words from Joyce, my Section 8 neighbor.

Section 8 ain’t doing so great. Mike is doing 3 years in the State Penitentiary for selling heroin in a school zone. Luckily, Joyce has shacked up with a new dude, who weighs about 350 pounds. A match made in welfare heaven. For all the newbies, I’ll repost my classic opening to summer, written five years ago.

Here’s How Gov’t Housing Vouchers End Up Causing More Poverty

Via The Daily Caller

Federal officials spend more tax dollars on Section 8 housing vouchers than they do on cash welfare, and the program often perpetuates poverty rather than alleviating it, according to an urban housing expert.

“Its incentives are completely skewed,” Howard Husock, vice president for policy research and director of the Social Entrepreneurship Initiative at the Manhattan Institute, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

“You’ve ‘hit the lottery’ and you’re set for life,” said Husock, referring to those who receive housing assistance for decades, a lifetime or even generations, while others wait for years on a waiting list. “Not only do you hit the lottery and you can sit back and have a housing unit for life, but remember, your deal is you pay 30 percent of your income in rent, but what it means is for every additional dollar you earn, you pay an addition 30 cents in rent,” he said.

Voucher recipients pay 30 percent of their income in rent no matter how much they earn, which stifles motivation to earn more, Husock said. Federal housing assistance, unlike the five-year cap imposed on welfare benefits in 1995, has no time limit. Husock, author of, “America’s Trillion-Dollar Housing Mistake: The Failure of America’s Housing Policy,” calls it “welfare unreformed.”

The Department of Housing and Urban Development paid $18 billion in vouchers, not including associated costs, in fiscal year 2014, versus the $16.5 billion the Department of Health and Human Services spent on cash welfare the same year.

FEEL GOOD STORY OF THE DAY: A family in public housing makes $498,000 a year

This doesn’t even take into account the hundreds of thousands of people in Section 8 housing who are “earning” money under the table and not reporting it to the IRS. Then there are the additional “tenants” who pay to live there, which is also not reported. This article is only the tip of the iceberg.

Via Washington Post

A public housing project in Brooklyn. (Reuters/Lucas Jackson/File)

A family of four in New York City makes $497,911 a year but pays $1,574 a month to live in public housing in a three-bedroom apartment subsidized by taxpayers.

In Los Angeles, a family of five that’s lived in public housing since 1974 made $204,784 last year but paid $1,091 for a four-bedroom apartment. And a tenant with assets worth $1.6 million — including stocks, real estate and retirement accounts — last year paid $300 for a one-bedroom apartment in public housing in Oxford, Neb.

In a new report, the watchdog for the Department of Housing and Urban Development describes these and more than 25,000 other “over income” families earning more than the maximum income for government-subsidized housing as an “egregious” abuse of the system. While the family in New York with an annual income of almost $500,000 raked in $790,500 in rental income on its real estate holdings in recent years, more than 300,000 families that really qualify for public housing lingered on waiting lists, auditors found.

Affirmatively Destroying America’s Neighborhoods In The War On Suburbia

Submitted by Bob Livingston via PersonalLiberty.com,

Few of us understand patient gradualism. We live and have our being within a few years and mostly in an unconscious automated state of mind.

But people in power are long-term planners. They absolutely understand human nature and how to channel it to the evolution and refinement of the authoritarian state.

Authoritarianism is based on long-term planning. Authoritarianism is a philosophy of collectivism. Some call it democracy. Some call it communism. Some call it fascism. Some call it National Socialism. But whatever you call it, it is all collectivism or authoritarianism; and in its ultimate form it is globalism.

The goal is perfect docility and perfect harmony with authoritarianism (economic, social and spiritual). Until the people accept collectivism under some pretext, they are not docile and completely subdued. Once they do, rebellion and confrontation are impossible. This is the ultimate goal of the globalists, and the American system is nearing this state.

As I told you last week in “Why is the war on the Confederacy still going on today?,” the dismantling of the middle class has become the appointed, full-time task of the largest government alphabet soup agencies and Wall Street on behalf of globalism. The purpose behind this is that if those big middle-class producers and consumers can be decimated once and for all, then they can join the ranks of low-wage workers and more readily accept government largess and, thereby, become “hooked” on collectivism.

Attention America’s Suburbs: You Have Just Been Annexed

Guest Post by Stanley Kurtz

It’s difficult to say what’s more striking about President Obama’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) regulation:its breathtaking radicalism, the refusal of the press to cover it, or its potential political ramifications. The danger AFFH poses to Democrats explains why the press barely mentions it. This lack of curiosity, in turn, explains why the revolutionary nature of the rule has not been properly understood. Ultimately, the regulation amounts to back-door annexation, a way of turning America’s suburbs into tributaries of nearby cities.

This has been Obama’s purpose from the start. In Spreading the Wealth: How Obama Is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities, I explain how a young Barack Obama turned against the suburbs and threw in his lot with a group of Alinsky-style community organizers who blamed suburban tax-flight for urban decay. Their bible was Cities Without Suburbs, by former Albuquerque mayor David Rusk. Rusk, who works closely with Obama’s Alinskyite mentors and now advises the Obama administration, initially called on cities to annex their surrounding suburbs. When it became clear that outright annexation was a political non-starter, Rusk and his followers settled on a series of measures designed to achieve de facto annexation over time.

The plan has three elements: 1) Inhibit suburban growth, and when possible encourage suburban re-migration to cities. This can be achieved, for example, through regional growth boundaries (as in Portland), or by relative neglect of highway-building and repair in favor of public transportation. 2) Force the urban poor into the suburbs through the imposition of low-income housing quotas. 3) Institute “regional tax-base sharing,” where a state forces upper-middle-class suburbs to transfer tax revenue to nearby cities and less-well-off inner-ring suburbs (as in Minneapolis/St. Paul).

Zippity Poobah

Section 8 coming to your neighborhood, whether you like it or not. My section 8 neighbor in Wildwood just did some time in the county jail for selling heroine in a school zone. They also appear to be housing their own tenants who are paying them to live there. Do you think they are reporting their drug revenues or rental income? Section 8 is a scam. It will ruin your neighborhood. Obama doesn’t care. You are white, therefore you are the enemy.

Via Hope n’ Change

obama, obama jokes, political, humor, cartoon, conservative, hope n' change, hope and change, stilton jarlsberg, zip code, housing, fair housing, hud

In his weekly address to the nation, Barack Obama explained his radical new citizen relocation program (euphemistically called “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing”) by declaring “in this country, of all countries (presumably including Kenya and Indonesia), a person’s zip code shouldn’t decide their destiny.”

Actually, we had no idea that a person’s zip code had that kind of power – or why such an important tool of success and empowerment would be entrusted to an organization as poorly run as the post office.

But Barry may have a point. After all, his own political destiny was going nowhere until, with a little wink-wink nudge-nudge financial help from convicted felon Tony Rezko, he moved into the same prestigious zip code as political activist and occasional terrorist Bill Ayres.

According to the president, “we’re using data on housing and neighborhood conditions to help cities identify the areas that need the most help.” And because he uses “help” twice in the same sentence, it sure sounds helpful. What he doesn’t mention is that once his administration has identified neighborhoods that “need help,” a punishing range of federal funds will be withheld from state coffers until racial and economic quotas – oops, goals – have been met.

Of course, all of this has been tried repeatedly since the passage of the Fair Housing Act half a century ago, and it has always failed. Adults transplanted from poorer communities don’t end up getting better jobs, and their kids don’t end up performing better in their new schools. Because in this country, of all countries, destinies are decided not only by where you are, but by how you managed to get there.

A lesson the World’s Smartest Man might do well to think about when he’s finally forced into a non-Washington zip code.

Not the Onion: Obama Wants to “Diversify” America’s Wealthy Neighborhoods

Section 8 coming to your neighborhood, whether you like it or not. I wonder if Obama will diversify the Hamptons or the NYC penthouse community.

Heading into the last quarter of Obama’s presidency we heard time and time again that these two years would be the most dangerous for the Republic. His disdain for working with Congress, contempt for the Constitution, and propensity to act unilaterally would only be magnified in the remaining days of his term—after all, he’d go big because he’s going home.

Now that he’s made everything from health care to immigration precipitously worse, next up on the list is an experiment in social engineering.

The Onion The Hill reports:

The Obama administration is moving forward with regulations designed to help diversify America’s wealthier neighborhoods, drawing fire from critics who decry the proposal as executive overreach in search of an “unrealistic utopia.”

A final Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) rule due out this month is aimed at ending decades of deep-rooted segregation around the country.

The regulations would use grant money as an incentive for communities to build affordable housing in more affluent areas while also taking steps to upgrade poorer areas with better schools, parks, libraries, grocery stores and transportation routes as part of a gentrification of those communities.

“HUD is working with communities across the country to fulfill the promise of equal opportunity for all,” a HUD spokeswoman said. “The proposed policy seeks to break down barriers to access to opportunity in communities supported by HUD funds.”

THE REAL REASON THE AMERICAN DREAM IS UNRAVELING

Marketwatch posted an article this week titled Why the American Dream is Unraveling, in 4 charts. As usual, the MSM journalist and the liberal Harvard academic can create charts that reveal a huge problem, but they completely misdiagnose the causes and offer the typical wrong solution of taking more money from producers and handing it to the poor, with no strings attached. This has been the standard operating procedure since LBJ began his War on Poverty 50 years ago. Do these control freaks ever step back and assess how that war is going?

The poverty rate had plunged from 34% in 1950 to below 20% before LBJ ever declared war. It continued down to 15% just as the welfare programs began to be implemented. The percentage of people living in poverty hasn’t budged from the 15% range since the war began. This war has been just as successful as the war on drugs and the war on terrorism. Any time a politician declares war on something, expect a huge price tag and more of the “problem” they are declaring war upon.

The Federal government runs over 80 means-tested welfare programs that provide cash, food, housing, medical care, and targeted social services to poor and low-income Americans. Over 100 million Americans received benefits from at least one of these programs. Federal and state governments spent $943 billion in 2013 on these programs at an average cost of $9,000 per recipient (not including Social Security & Medicare). That is 27% of the total Federal budget. Welfare spending as a percentage of the Federal budget was less than 2% prior to the launch of the War on Poverty.

In the 50 years since this war started, U.S. taxpayers have spent over $22 trillion on anti-poverty programs. Adjusted for inflation, this spending (which does not include Social Security or Medicare) is three times the cost of all U.S. military wars since the American Revolution. In terms of LBJ’s main goal of reducing the “causes” rather than the mere “consequences” of poverty, the War on Poverty has utterly failed. In fact, a large proportion of the population is now completely dependent upon government handouts, incapable of self-sufficiency, and enslaved in a welfare mentality that has destroyed their communities.

SECTION 8 STILL DOING GREAT

With the kids on Spring Break, we took a three day weekend in Wildwood. Today was beautiful. It was nice enough to ride our bikes to the lighthouse and take a nice four mile hike on the boardwalk. Easter Sunday’s weather was dreary so we did some bowling at the Wildwood Bowl and almost won a trivia competition at Owens Pub in North Wildwood while watching the Flyers make a dramatic comeback to keep their playoff hopes alive. Our four year ordeal regarding our defectively built deck is over. The new deck is awesome. There was virtually no noticeable damage from Sandy in Wildwood. I hope the deck work and Sandy didn’t inconvenience my Section 8 next door neighbors. They seem to be in good spirits. For newbies, these previous articles will bring you up to speed.

http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=32788

http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=18085

I have nothing personal against these people. They are fairly quiet. They did move my deck chairs into my garage before Sandy hit. They are there all year and keep an eye on the place. I do have a big problem with the asshole owner of the unit -Fat Pete. I’ve given him the name Fat Pete because he is a 350 pound scumbag that isn’t capable of climbing the steps to his unit.

Pete bought 3 of the 7 units in our condo pre-construction in 2002. He flipped two (one of them to me) at a nice profit and kept one for friends and family to use. He fancied himself a real estate mogul because his daddy owned one of the biggest blueberry farms in NJ and provided plenty of opportunity for Fat Pete. One problem. Petey found himself with 8 properties in Wildwood when the housing market collapsed. He mistook a bubble for intelligence and real estate savvy. After a couple years without being able to sell any of his properties he somehow managed to get the condo next door to me approved for Section 8 housing. It boggles my mind that a condo in a resort town, located 50 yards from the beach, can qualify for Section 8 housing.

Not only did Fat Pete single-handidly bring down the value of every condo in the complex with his brilliant strategic move, but he then rented it to white trash drug dealers who harassed our tenants all summer. After a number of us threatened him with bodily harm, he gave these tenants the boot and replaced them with the family unit that currently occupy the unit. We have a perfectly able mid fifties man who is not legally employed. He drives a nice pickup truck and appears to do some landscaping work for cash payments under the table. We have his rotund loud mouthed wife who tips the scales at about 275, and drives a newer model SUV with a handicap sticker. We have an ancient artifact grandmother with a walker, who likes to chat with us, but we can’t understand one word she says. There is also a slow-witted teenager who hardly ever leaves the condo. Then there are various “relatives” or acquaintances that come and go.

And now for the best part. Fat Pete, even though he’s been getting a monthly check from the Federal government for the last three years, hasn’t made his condo fee payment for the last four years. He is $7,000 in arrears. The other six owners had to pony up $3,000 apiece to cover the difference in the insurance payment for our deck repairs and the amount owed to the contractor. Fat Pete is taking $2,500 out of our pockets by not paying his fair share. I’ve tried to embarass his fatass with a sarcastic email copied to all the owners. He makes excuses for why he hasn’t paid. I don’t care. If this asshole ever shows up at the condo, I’ll stick my foot up his enormous ass.

As I said previously, I don’t personally have anything against my Section 8 neighbors. What I do have are questions. Questions that aren’t allowed to be asked in polite politically correct company. So I’ll ask them here:

  1. How can the Federal government subsidize Section 8 housing in resort communities?
  2. How much do the Obamanistas pay to Fat Pete and how much do the tenants pay?
  3. How many people in the condo are receiving SSDI payments?
  4. Is the 1st of the month their favorite day?
  5. When did being extremely fat qualify someone for handicap parking and SSDI?
  6. Did everyone in the condo vote for Obama in 2012?
  7. Would anyone in the condo ever seek a real wage paying job if it meant their welfare checks would stop?
  8. How does a family that can’t afford to rent an apartment, with no one working, afford two vehicles, cable TV, internet service, and cell phones?
  9. Do these people feel any shame and will they ever attempt to get off the dole?
  10. Does the able bodied man pay taxes on the cash payments he receives for doing landscaping?
  11. How long can this country subsidize such behavior on such a large scale?
  12. What will happen when the millions of entitlement recipients have their cashflow cut off when the system collapses?

In the meantime, Section 8 continues to do great.

SECTION 8 DOING GREAT

I’m sure you all remember the Section 8 family that lives year round at a beach resort, 50 yards from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. I filled you in on this fine upstanding family last summer:

http://www.theburningplatform.com/?p=18085

We visited Wildwood this weekend for the 1st time since last September. It was a delightful weekend and a well needed rest. And you’ll be happy to know that the deteriorating economic situation has not affected our Section 8 friends in the condo next door to ours. The 50 something year old patriarch still sits on the deck drinking beer. His 400 pound loudmouth wife is as loud as ever. The teenage dullard appears as slow witted as ever. And the old lady with the walker is still kicking. A myriad of other “family” members paraded in and out of the condo all weekend.

You’ll be happy to know that despite living in Section 8 housing, surely being on food stamps, and most certainly collecting multiple SSDI checks, these poor folk were able to trade in their old car for a 2007 Buick Rendezvous that looks brand new. This is in addition to the truck the old man already drives. Their new vehicle looks like this.

One might wonder how a welfare family where NO ONE works can possibly purchase a $13,000 vehicle. How much do you want to bet that our old friends at Ally Financial were involved in this transaction? When you read about the fantastic auto sales from our fantastic car makers, remember how it is being done. You and I own Ally Financial (78% Federal government ownership). Ally and GM and Obama don’t care if this loan is repaid. They just want a car sale in order to prove the economy is recovering. The people in the condo next door put the SUB in subprime.

So it looks like Obama has this Section 8 household locked up for the 2012 election. No suffering in Section 8 land in Wildwood. Now it’s time for us to leave the shore in our 13 year old minivan. I must be doing something wrong.
