Muck’s Minute #8

Please note that Old Muck is not the total original author of this piece.  I came across it today reading a non-copyright newsletter that provided no credits for it’s composition.

But I liked it so much, I edited it a little bit and send it to you screaming monkeys here at TBP where things of this nature are sometimes discussed.  It’s sad but quite true and I do not know how we will ever recover Common Sense from the clutches of pseudo-politically correct and ever “diverse” growth (much like cancer) that have completely removed Common Sense from our every day lives.

Obituary of Common Sense

Today, we mourn the passing of an old friend by the name of Common Sense.

Common Sense lived a long life, but died from abandonment in the early years of the 2nd Millennium. No one really knows how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools; hospitals, homes, factories, offices and interpersonal relationships helping folks get jobs done without fanfare and foolishness.

For decades, petty rules, silly laws and frivolous lawsuits held no power over Common Sense. It was credited with cultivating such valued lessons as how to know when to come in from rain, the early bird gets the worm, life isn’t always fair and all people are not created equal.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn), reliable parenting strategies (the adults are in charge, not the kids), and it’s okay to come in second.

A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Technological Revolution, Common Sense survived cultural and educational trends including feminism, body piercing,  and the new math (although in the case of the later item, Common Sense often required home schooling to master the math part).

But his health declined when he became infected with the “if-it-only-helps-one-person-it’s-worth-it” virus (Otherwise known as “political correctness” or “diversity”. In recent decades, his waning strength proved no match for the ravages of overbearing federal, state and local legislation and both greedy money seeking corporations and do-gooder lobbying.

He watched in pain as good people became ruled by self-seeking lawyers, dishonest politicians and bribed (or ignored) auditors. His health rapidly deteriorated when schools endlessly implemented zero tolerance policies; when reports were heard of a six year old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; when a teen was suspended for taking a swig of mouthwash after lunch; when a teacher was fired for reprimanding an unruly student; when a grade school boy was suspended for biting a pop tart into what someone thought was a gun shape.

It declined even further when schools had to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but couldn’t inform the parent when a female student is pregnant or wants an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost his will to live as the churches became businesses, criminals received better treatment than victims, and federal judges stuck their noses in everything from Boy Scouts to bedrooms to professional sports and defined our homes as no longer our castles.

As the end neared, Common Sense drifted in and out of logic but was kept informed of developments regarding questionable regulations for asbestos, low-flow toilets, smart guns, the nurturing of Prohibition Laws and mandatory air bags and thousands of otherwise none-of-their-business laws and regulations atop laws and regulations.

Finally, when told that the militarized police could break down the door of your private castle on nothing but “suspicion” of “wrong doing” and you have no legal rights to challenge that action, Common Sense gave up the ghost.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; his son Reason and what was left of his entire family; Constitution. His stepbrothers survive him as poor totally crippled things: Rights, and Tolerance and The Rule of Law.

Common Sense simply died without fanfare and foolishness.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.

Common Sense is and will be sorely missed.

Sad but true assessment

The article was so good, Muckster posted it twice.

The parasites are rewarded, and the productive are punished and stolen from. It’s hard to believe our country has sunk so low as to have Obama as president, for two terms no less. We’ll never recover. We’re a bankrupt welfare state, nothing new, been many more throughout history. Only this time there’s no place to escape to; no new countries to start, no place for like-minded patriots to settle. There’s no escaping the socialists and those who rely on them. The parasites have just about killed the host. Won’t be long now.
