This could also be a visual interpretation of the Federal Reserve QE policy to save Amurika.

An when the killer asteroid is upon us, NASA is going to launch a 100 megaton nuclear war head to destroy it’s target. How well do you think that’s going to work?

An Orbital Sciences rocket operating under a NASA contract exploded shortly after launch on Tuesday evening, much to everyone’s surprise, except for perhaps Elon Musk. The SpaceX CEO trashed Orbital Sciences for using outdated Russian engines during a 2012 Wired interview, saying “One of our competitors, Orbital Sciences, has a contract to resupply the International Space Station, and their rocket honestly sounds like the punch line to a joke. It uses Russian rocket engines that were made in the ’60s.” The Antares rocket was carrying a Cygnus spacecraft that was supposed to deliver supplies to the International Space Station on a routine mission. The exact cause of the explosion is still unknown.

The Space Oversight organization(s) and the long rang planning division(s) of NASA, Army, Navy, CIA, NSA and any other to finally Jelly Bean have their collective head stuffed so far their ass, it’s a wonder we get anything up the ISS at all.

Jeebus idiotics, first we allow the allow the Apollo program to die with nothing in the wings, thereby cutting our own throats as far as lunar exploration. in the case of Truth, the shift from Gemini to Apollo went well).

Then the shuttle program is allowed to suicide with no plans to replace it, thereby neatly and surgically cutting away any and all methods of putting astronauts into low earth idle and allowing the booster technology to collapse.

If we had continued on with the Saturn program (Those first and finest boosters that put our men on the moon first, safely and every time without a single failure), we would now have completely solar system (and beyond) rated capable, man rated boosters to take us anywhere in the solar system.

Having worked a large chunk of my life gritting my teeth at the overbearing stupidity, criminal actions of NASA, Navy, Army, Air Force and NASA it is obvious that the U.S. space program was driven primarily by political decisions in order to spread the sweets and waste the taxpayer’s money with just enough payoff to keep the sheep from falling asleep or rebelling.

Poor old Wernher von Braun has spun himself 50 feet deeper in his grave just observing the idiocy that has taken since his death!

I would go to work – gratis and tomorrow – for someone like Von Braun and enjoy every drop of system analysis and coding I did for him. But it hurts to have passed your prime and growing old with the only future being one of reviewing the past.

I’ll change my opinion when we once again have capability of doing a man lift into low orbit again and a mission to Mars (one way? I’d do it in a minute!).
