Obama to ban bullets by executive action, threatens top-selling AR-15 rifle

Guest Post by Paul Bedard

It’s starting.

As promised, President Obama is using executive actions to impose gun control on the nation, targeting the top-selling rifle in the country, the AR-15 style semi-automatic, with a ban on one of the most-used AR bullets by sportsmen and target shooters.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives this month revealed that it is proposing to put the ban on 5.56 mm ammo on a fast track, immediately driving up the price of the bullets and prompting retailers, including the huge outdoors company Cabela‘s, to urge sportsmen to urge Congress to stop the president.

Wednesday night, Rep. Bob Goodlatte, the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, stepped in with a critical letter to the bureau demanding it explain the surprise and abrupt bullet ban. The letter is shown below.

The National Rifle Association, which is working with Goodlatte to gather co-signers, told Secrets that30 House members have already co-signed the letter and Goodlatte and the NRA are hoping to get a total of 100 fast.

“The Obama administration was unable to ban America’s most popular sporting rifle through the legislative process, so now it’s trying to ban commonly owned and used ammunition through regulation,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA-ILA, the group’s policy and lobby shop. “The NRA and our tens of millions of supporters across the country will fight to stop President Obama’s latest attack on our Second Amendment freedoms.”

At issue is so-called “armor-piercing” ammunition, an exemption for those bullets mostly used for sport by AR-15 owners, and the recent popularity of pistol-style ARs that use the ammo.

The inexpensive 5.56 M855 ammo, commonly called lightgreen tips, have been exempt for years, as have higher-caliber ammunition that also easily pierces the type of soft armor worn by police, because it’s mostly used by target shooters, not criminals. The agency proposes to reclassify it as armor-piercing and not exempt.

But now BATFE says that since the bullets can be used in semi-automatic handguns they pose a threat to police and must be banned from production, sale and use. But, as Goodlatte noted, the agency offered no proof. Federal agencies will still be allowed to buy the ammo.

“This round is amongst the most commonly used in the most popular rifle design in America, the AR-15. Millions upon millions of M855 rounds have been sold and used in the U.S., yet ATF has not even alleged — much less offered evidence — that even one such round has ever been fired from a handgun at a police officer,” said Goodlatte’s letter.

Even some police don’t buy the administration’s claim. “Criminals aren’t going to go out and buy a $1,000 AR pistol,” Brent Ball, owner of 417 Guns in Springfield, Mo., and a 17-year veteran police officer told the Springfield News-Leader. “As a police officer I’m not worried about AR pistols because you can see them. It’s the small gun in a guy’s hand you can’t see that kills you.”

Many see the bullet ban as an assault on the AR-15 and Obama’s back-door bid to end production and sale.

“We are concerned,” said Justin Anderson with Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte, N.C., one of the nation’s top sellers of AR-15 style rifles. “Frankly, we’re always concerned when the government uses back-door methods to impose quasi-gun control.”

Groups like the National Shooting Sports Foundation suggest that under BATFE’s new rule, other calibers like popular deer hunting .308 bullets could be banned because they also are used in AR platforms, some of which can be turned into pistol-style guns. “This will have a detrimental effect on hunting nationwide,” said the group.

See? Executive Order and S.C. legislating, should have been stopped dead in their tracks decades ago.

But the majority didn’t care.

Which is why we were not set up as a true democracy.

And people still think the civil war was about skin color.

Bank it folks, he has nothing to lose, no one that will stand up and stop the insanity (because truly it is Bushie and the Republithugs that loved E.O.’s too, many of them have gifted Pres O further unConstitutional powers. Where was the outrage then? *crickets*), and the clock is freaking ticking.

I’m reminded, again and constantly, of our dear leader’s unmentionable mentor and his statement that, (not verbatim), “we have to infiltrate, expand, then collapse the system.”

Yep. Kinda really explains it all, doesn’t it? The whole system is on the verge of complexity and corruption collapse. What fun.

And as soon as the charade really begins falling apart, with hunger and want not able to be hidden anymore, THEN the real fun of collapse can begin.

Their is a playbook. It used to be conspiracy. I can’t rightly maintain the delusion that it is only a conspiracy anymore.

I am sure Sensetti is an NRA lifer.

I bought a shit-ton of these back before the supposed Connecticut school shooting. Best investment I ever made. They have appreciated in value even more than gold and silver over the same time period…

One thing these Federal assclowns fail to realize is that as long as they continue to arm themselves anf and equip with this ammunition, it will one day be available to those whom they arm against. One of the first rules of guerrilla warfare is to use the same weapons that your adversary uses; the runaway popularity of the AR-15 platform shows that a good deal of the gun-owning public will have access to ammunition regardless of what the Feds do. When one can take the ammo off of dead pigs and out of local and Federal armories, the ban is meaningless.

Where’s a post about the FCC decision? (I’m sure it’s coming). That is a BIG deal to anyone who favors an open internet. We won’t have the ability to read or comment on blogs like TBP much longer.

Folks, the final nails are being driven into the coffin of a free America. Naomi Wolf’s compilation
of the 10 steps to facism below are falling like dominoes. Aren’t they all in place now?

The 10 essential steps the state must implement to take total control are:

1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy.

2. Create secret prisons where torture takes place.

3. Develop a thug caste or paramilitary force not answerable to citizens.

4. Set up an internal surveillance system.

5. Harass citizens’ groups.

6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release.

7. Target key individuals.

8. Control the press.

9. Treat all political dissidents as traitors.

10. Suspend the rule of law.

How many of these have happened or is happening in America right now?

So there ya are preppin’ like crazy and;

— Ya gots yo’self some gold coins …. then with one EO, gold is illegal

— Ya gots yo’self a victory garden …. then with one EO, home gardening is illegal

— Ya gots yo’self a fresh water pond …. then with one EO, collecting rainwater is illegal

— Ya gots yo’self a Gadsen flag bumper sticker …. and that recent EQ declared you are a terrorist.

By all means, keep prepping. It’s the SMART thing to do. But, be aware those motherfuckers can take it all away with the stroke of a pen, no vote needed. Keep your muzzle loaded … just a matter of time ’till you need to use it.

The people WILL find a work-around.

For example … (not to get into a religious debate) …. but, the Book Of Revelation was a coded message. All those beasts, dragons, anti Christs, lions, leopards, etc etc … EVERY image represented something in the REAL world they were living in. Those in “the know” (Christians) knew exactly what was being said, while the enemy (Romans) didn’t have a clue.

(It may have also meant other stuff … which is irrelevant to my point.)

Republicans do eat shit. Our republican senate (26-4) passed a bill which would put an end to road pirates confiscating peoples stuff because they felt like it. The commie governor Mead vetoes it (drug war you know), and only 7, yes SEVEN Sensetti had the balls to vote to overturn the veto. Pussies.

Will this order if implemented as written ban the manufacture of the projectile itself or simply the sale of loaded ammunition utilizing this projectile? Meaning will one still be able to buy the bullet and load their own?

folly12345- i do not believe there are any commercial sales, it is manufactured for the military exclusively, all current sales are surplus sales, over runs, decommissioning and the like. So if the military requests it, there will still be manufacture, its not a very good round, most I know will say good riddance, except cheap surplus for shooting and pinking.
Here are projectiles for reloading

ottomatik – Thanks that is what I figured, I am concerned about the slippery slope aspect of this more than the particular round. The green tip is fine for cheap plinking but it is kind of hard on steel rifle targets at matches so I am with you on the good riddance part for that reason alone. It really sucks to have to tell some new guy that did not know better he just bought a couple hundred dollar target because no one caught them in advance. I was just curious as to how complete the ban was as proposed.

My team is Red it controls the majority of the United States landmass, the oil fields, farms, and ranches. The enemy is the blue team they gather in large groups mainly located in Metropolitan areas. The blue team is dependent on the red team to feed them, so when the SHTF blue team starves. Obamas rogue actions are driving more people to the Red Team.

I was an independent until Obama was elected and then I realized, I have no voice, I’am on the sidelines. I employed The same logic and reason Ron & Rand Paul use, who are members of my team. You cannot make change without a seat at the table. Study the map it gets redder everytime obama pulls some shit.

Many focus on the Politicians in Washington, what about the people on the street.

BTW. To All you that will criticize me. What color is your team and where are they hiding?

They did this with steel core 7.62 X 39 for the AK in 1994. But since we have always been told Russia is bad not many owned the AK 47 rifle and not a lot was ever said about it. But as we all know many Americans now own AR 15’s so we just might hear some backlash on this particular ammo, I hope so.

This news came out over a week ago but never really hit the mainstream until a few days ago.
I do check the price of ammo like many watch the stock market and .223, the caliber related to the type of ammo they want to ban has climbed .09 cents a round since the news first broke. 7.62 X 39 has been holding steady at .22 a round, get it while you can!

You can never have enough ammo, I believe someday it will be a very good form of currency.

I’m just glad I’m too old for offensive operations. All I need, I have. Defense only but potent and handy including the 18″ barrel pump behind the bedroom door stuffed with #2 buck. A 20 Ga. so my sweetie can use it if needed and it won’t kill someone on the other side of a wall if you screw up.

My eyesight is adequate to use an AR15 but I have no wish to Rambo my way to out of here.

Use me up in a rear action and I can do a job. Too old for charging the guns..
