Freezing Ocean Waves In Nantucket Are Rolling In As Slush

It’s so cold that the sea on the coast of Nantucket, an island on the eastern coast of the U.S., has turned into slush! Jonathan Nimerfroh, a photographer and surfer who’s “obsessed” with the ocean, snapped these beautiful shots of slushy waves rolling in to the near-frozen beach.

According to Nimerfroh, the high temperature that day had been only 19F, or -7C. It was cold enough for ice to form near the shore, but not cold enough to form solid pieces of ice, which is why the waves had to travel through a layer of slush to reach the shore. It may look like an appetizing slurpee, but I don’t suggest trying it unless you like salt, pee and plankton flavor.

Nimerfroh is an avid ocean and surfing photographer who has plenty of other beautiful photos of the sea, so check out his Instagram and website!

The look like a good a place to break this most excellent news.

CPAC: Paul edges Walker in straw poll

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. — Rand Paul won a high-profile straw poll for a third straight year Saturday, capping an annual conservative conference at which delegates argued about how to turn their ideas into a presidential victory in 2016.

Paul won by two percentage points over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a closer-than-expected tally in this early test of political strength among conservative activists.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson finished third, while Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., wound up fourth in the poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — perhaps the most criticized candidate at this conservative conclave — finished fifth.

The straw poll capped the four-day conference at which conservative delegates generally agreed they need to elect one of their own to the presidency in 2016, but disputed the best way to go about it.

Some CPAC delegates said Republicans should nominate a true believer, someone who can repeal health care, shrink the size of the federal government, and aggressively wage war on the so-called Islamic State militant group.

Others agreed on the need for a conservative nominee, but said the GOP needs to reach out to moderates who may hold different views on immigration, education, and foreign policy, and will be needed to win the presidential vote in 2016.

I am supporting a Rand as long as he’s in the race.

I could support Rand if he backs off on the pandering to the loony religious “right”. I just don’t see how you can be a Libertarian and at the same time tell a Woman what she can do with her body. Flys in the face of all the other “good” aspects of what he apparently supports.
One thing is for sure. The absolute #1 question for the candidates is “What is your position on NSA spying en masse of innocent citizens”. Anything less than a definitive answer against it is a dis-qualifier.

CPAC draws hundreds of clueless libertarian-minded millenials who haven’t been burned out by political activism yet. Give them some time….

6 degrees this morning and we are expecting 3 to 6 more inches of snow tonight. The snow finally melted down on the front widows so you can see out the upper sash. Yesterday morning one of our friends who helps run the Canton skating rink was there for the roof collapse. Fortunately no one was hurt. He heard a series of loud bangs then the back roof caved in with the air pressure blowing out the front panels. Scary stuff.

I’m just glad I shoveled off my roof and chipped off most of the ice damns. Too much fun.
