This Fourth Grade Girl ROCKS!!! (must see vid!!)

God bless this little angel and her parents.

Background:

Standardized testing today is nothing like it was in the 90s, and certainly like nothing before that. Today it is nonsensical and insurmountable enough to make students, teachers, and parents cry. One Florida fourth grader, who could barely see over the podium as she gave a rousing speech to Hernando County School Board – just couldn’t take being a mere statistic any more.

On Mar 17, tiny nine-year-old Sydney Smoot rocked the Brooksville Elementary Schoolhouse when she boldly ripped into the new Florida Standards Assessment. She brought the Board to its feet with a standing ovation after a two-minute lambasting, complete with fitting gesticulation. Take special note about orders that the students cannot disclose what they see on the test to their parents.

Coincidentally, a parallel battle wages against PARCC* testing which is a somewhat privatized form of standardized testing that unfairly gauges knowledge of newly installed Common Core curriculum. It’s an additional burden that takes 10 hours to complete. These tests are moreso hushed. So much so, that publishing company Pearson was recently caught spying on students’ social media accounts to make sure none of the Common-Core-crazy slipped out. All under the guise of “security,” of course. In actuality, these bullies really, really don’t want parents to know what’s happening.

With such an aggressive push for these tests, shrouded in secrecy from parents, and despite such an impressive backlash, it is becoming more apparent that a synthesis is about to take place where everyone loses. Everyone but the State and Common Core pushers who are poised to pull back just a little and by doing so, get what they really wanted all along.

Public education has been in a hole for decades, and it just keeps digging.

And people wonder why kids act out and why the are being forced to take mind altering drugs. I would NEVER have made it as a student today. I get bored with things quite easily unless I’m being challenged. They’d have to drug me practically to death to get me to sit still for the bullshit these kids go through today. I was lucky in that I always had at least one teacher who inspired me and showed me the possibilities. That and I had parents who were involved.

I clearly remember getting so bored with those day long tests where you just filled in little circles with a No.2 pencil that I just started filling in circles to create designs to amuse myself. Sometimes I just created repeating patterns. Funny thing is that I don’t ever recall being called on it or being told that I did poorly on the tests.

“Check out the NCAA post. You’re almost guaranteed a 2nd place finish at this point.”

I just made a comment over there before I read the above. You’re gonna have to be a math genius to get me into 2nd place, but the effort would be much appreciated since I know jerky Admin will be reminding me about my poor performance several thousand times over the next year.

“Suppose all but two entries are deleted, yours and mine. Who do you suppose would come in first and second? hmmmm?”
—-Stucky @ SSS

Great. I’d come in second out of 2 entries. No improvement on where I am now!!!! Last.

I don’t think anyone in TBP history has been MORE last than SSS.

Buck up SSS. The “family” nature of TBP makes you stronger to face the real world!

Smart little Girl. You guys DO know much of this standardized testing “common core” bullshit was designed to flood money in the pockets of Neil Bush don’t ‘cha? Same Neil Bush that was banned from banking back during the S & L crisis. Same Neil Bush whose big brother and dadda were Presidents?

Sometime next fall, it is rumored that Common Core/Obamacare are combining forces and putting “mental health counselors” into ALL schools. Yep, even the schools that can’t afford to buy paper, pencils or books, they get to come up with millions for “counselors.”

And ALL students will be REQUIRED to complete “mental health assessments,” under the guise of stopping the next Columbine or Sandy Hook.

When WE all know that all it will do is add to the SSDI roles, add to the psychotropics on kids, and if history is to be our guide, create MORE mass killings of children by children, not less.

I didn’t realize they were being instructed to NOT tell parents. Why isn’t that against the law? Isn’t that the same thing every child molester/destroyer does?

Freak that. Wee one and I are constantly having talks about the insanity at her school. This is but one more.
