Evil is simple to understand: It is opposition to God’s laws for Mankind.
It’s origin is also easy to understand: It is done at the subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, urgings of the one who originally opposed God’s laws for his kind and rebelled against him.
The Evil One, that Old Snake, uses mans natural God created desires by twisting and distorting them to bring us to violating of God’s laws instead of fulfilling them the way God intended when he created us.
We are given free will, we can choose which to follow, we can choose sin or obedience to God to fulfill our natural desires. That is what makes us different from the animals that do not have free will and cannot sin because of it, they must remain true to the nature God gave them.
