DID YOU EXCHANGE A WALK ON PART IN THE WAR, FOR A LEAD ROLE IN A CAGE?

That line always makes me think. It makes me think about how the majority of Americans have decided to go along to get along. They trust their government and have willingly chosen to not fight their loss of freedoms, liberties, and rights. They have chosen a lead role in a cage. As long as they can use their credit card to buy shit, take out seven year 0% loans to drive nice cars, and get free shit from the government, they will bow down to their masters. They can’t tell heaven from hell, until they eventually feel the cold steel rail.

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
And cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We’re just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

I love this album.
Getting old sucks, but beats the alternative, I guess.
I am glad I am not imortal.

Damn fine tune admin!

taxSlave, +100 on your immortal comment. I see these news stories that talk about extending human lifespans to 100 or even 300 years. Fuck that!

I’ll see your Wish You Were Here and raise you The Rage by Judas Priest. (if the WP gods allow it) I think the lyrics are spot on!

From a fire ball we came
Cross sea and mountain
We were drinking beauty with our eyes
We were given all
To make our own
Let us be left alone

Lay the tasks and pay the price
Everything suffice
Crashed and bolted all we craved
After every whim
What a state we’re in
Is pain better than the grave?

Well we talk with other men
We see red and then
Deep inside our blood begins to boil
Like a tiger in the cage
We begin to shake with rage

Thanks for posting, one of my favorite albums and one of my bands. Maybe one of the better guitar rifts ever to be played.
