Which “hero” (a person you really admired) in your life let you down the most?
More than one answer is OK … one for politics, one for entertainment, etc.
For me, Billy Cosby ranks way up there.
Wolfgang … my best friend in high school whom I hated … and I would listen to Cosby’s comedy records so often we’d memorize EVERY skit on both sides, word for word. We flat out had Fat Albert nailed! Later in life, when we had kids, one of the FEW teevee shows we allowed the kids to watch was The Cosby show … family values, and all that shit. (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman was another …. but now that I know her brother, Jim Quinn, was arrested for fondling children (according to the 5th Estate) … that’s another huge disappointment.) Sarcasm alert.
All my “heroes” are gone …

Dr Pangloss said you should never meet your idol(s) because you will be severely disappointed. The LA DA said the same thing about Hollywood types and Phil Spector in particular, they are some sick individuals. I decided long ago to only be surprised if I heard so and so was straight.
You go to the gentle-men’s clubs here and you learn about the messiest shit imaginable and a lot of the implicated are Hollywood freaks. All that means is they have too much money and no idea how to spend it.
The church lady says it’s a waste of time looking up to people who don’t even know you exist.
Here’s a news flash, the Cosby cartoon show was shitty. I ranked it along with the banana splits and land of the lost. Crappy Saturday morning fare after they ran out of Warner bros cartoons which were pretty good but second to bugs and friends.
The guy who let me down the most is Bobby “Blowjob” Finnegan for lying about how he got out of the slammer. The Catholic Church and all of the peterasses come in second.
