Rewriting The Rules – Trump’s Rise Is Unprecedented

Tyler Durden's picture

In May, when the Register last polled, 27 percent of likely Iowa GOP caucus-goers viewed Trump favorably while 63 percent regarded him unfavorably.

In the new poll, which was released Saturday night, Trump’s favorable number is at 61 percent and his unfavorable at 35 percent.

As The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza exclaims,

“In the almost 20 years I have spent following politics closer than
close, I’ve never seen anything like the total reversal in how Trump is
perceived by Republican voters. It is, quite literally, unprecedented.

The Trump candidacy has rewritten – or at least smudged – lots of the rules of conventional politics. He says things that would derail other peoples’ candidacies. His shyness about specifics on, well, anything would be seen as a lightness bordering on cluelessness in other candidates. His pick-a-fight-a-day mentality would be seen as overly aggressive and tonally off if anyone else in the field did it.

But, of all the amazing things that Trump is doing – whether he realizes what it is he is actually doing – his ability to totally turn around his image is the most remarkable. It’s not something we’ve seen before.

It’s different this time…

Being a registered Republican – but really a died in the wool Pragmatic Libertarian, I’m liable to vote the Primary for Mr. Trump just to throw monkey shit into the fan.

I think he’d be an absolutely terrible President since Presidents these days just shut up and do what they are told to do and any original thought or action is strictly verboten. That won’t happen with Trump.

But I’d love to see him grab Washington by the neck and shake the shit out of it.

Nothing unprecedented. Time was ripe for an patriotic, economic nationalist. The two parties have gotten way too cute since the roberts court has backstopped corporate america at the expense of everyone else. It was either this or civil war. Look at europe. If they had guns, they would already be fighting.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were walking down the street when they came to a homeless person.

Trump gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20 out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.

Hillary was very impressed, so when they came to another homeless person, she decided to help. She walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. She then reached into Trump’s pocket and got out $20. She kept $15 for her administrative fees and gave the homeless person $5.

Now you understand the difference between a Republican and a Democrat.

— “…who will be targeted?”

People who made a lifestyle out of political correctness and left a paper/internet trail. They were artificially propped up and protected specifically to be thrown under the bus later. Long term strategic planning by the Deep State to win back the bulk of people angry at the Facade State.

Trump is the perfect opportunity for the revolt of the electorate. He saw the opportunity and seized the day.

Kanye is an ass imitating but hardly visionary. Had he declared his pseudo-candidacy a month before Trump like I predicted, then he would be somebody impressive.

Trump is totally a Trojan Horse. Says just the right shit to stir up the public; knows how to work the media for mass exposure; would be clueless as POTUS and would be constrained and directed by the same fucks doing the same shit as today…or worse.

Westy,

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. — Donald Trump

I am now simply trying to explain his timeliness, the public’s state of mind, the Kanye’s imitation tribute, the revolt of the electorate, the displeasure with ineffective Congressmen, middle aged blonde groupies, the Trump script of a scandal a day,

There is a lot there. Billy compared our situation to the fall of the Roman Empire. I believe he focused on the invasion from beyond the Rubicon, I see the parallel with the impotent Congress; Senate in their case.

Who cares about the election, that’s a year away and any surprise event can negate today’s movement, something like a bank panic or market crash. The main draw now is the public demonstration of disenchantment with Washington.

Westy, I disagree. We shut down the border and put a spine in free trade, and restore the rule of law (yeah you, bill and hillary), we will have gotten something done.

I think we need a president who calls people “perv”, “disgusting” and “a fat pig”. Sealing the border is just a bonus.

I know people close to Trump. I know some of you won’t want to hear it, but what you see is what you get. He is no Trojan horse. You may not like everything he says (I don’t either) but he means just what he says. He WILL build a wall. He WILL deport illegals. He WILL negotiate better trade deals. He WILL NOT supinely take shit from the loony left and the identity politics rabble rousers like Jorge Ranos. The Donald is the same Donald he has always been. Two parts B.S. but three parts the real deal. Compare that to Jeb Bush. Jesus! Every time I see that tired, soft, pudgy, oh-so-sensitive asshole who thinks it is an act of love to break our laws, I want to punch him, As for Hillary, she is toast, really toast. Even Obama can’t save here. This time next year she will be a convicted felon.
I like Ben Carson. How is this: Trump/Carson, Ted Cruz as Attorney General, we can find jobs for the rest too.

“He WILL build a wall. …. He WILL deport illegals …. He WILL blah blah blah ….. He WILL NOT blah blah blah ….” ———— Southern Sage, Trumpeteer Groupie

So, we’re electing a Dictator?

You’re enthusiasm for Trumpy is downright creepy. You remind me of an 18 year old kid voting for the very first time, all giddy and fawning over The Man Who Will Save Amerika, hanging on to every BULLSHIT promise as if it was absolute truth.

You are Trumpies own version of John The Baptist, shouting in the wilderness, “Vote for Trump! The Day of the Lord is upon us!!”.

But, you’re NOT 18 years old. You’re a grown man. And that makes your obsession with licking Trumpies balls all the more despicable.

Stuck, They say a man is not without honor except in his own back yard. Also, I have heard that distant people make better friends than those who live close to you. We certainly viewed our neighbors right across the border with suspicion. I say all that to say that Southern Sage may see something different than what you see because you are too close to Da Trump.

Congratulations to all the TBPers on reaching a milestone. No doubt Trump will come knocking on Jim’s door pretty soon. I don’t think he will throw the Admin out for asking hard hitting questions.

How will the Democunts use Jeb’s words to attacks Trump as a closet liberal?

Or you could just watch ‘House of Cards’ with Kevin Spacey.

Any president with Buttercup for a wife, you HAVE to respect!

Wouldn’t politics be more fun if they simply competed on who came up with the most appropriate movie quotes? If you can quote ‘The Princess Bride’ or any Monty Python movie, or ‘The Big Lebowski’ in the right place at the right time, you’re probably qualified to be president. If that douchebag from Wherever doesn’t get it, they don’t get any new pipelines this year, fuck ’em.
