Da Teevee Newz this morning said that this new commercial from Kia is blowing up on Social Media.
I know we’ve beaten this topic like a rented mule here. But ….
—1) 99% or more of commercials are pure bullshit lies. It is refreshing to see one that tells it like it is.
—2) It would be hard to pick just one thing wrong with the Amerikan educational system. But the “everyone is a winner” meme must surely rank somewhere amongst the top two, or three.
—3) If one aspect of “education” is to prepare young mushy minds for the real world, then making them believe that everyone is a “winner” — only insures that most of them will graduate as a “loser“.
That being said, a parent can take “winning” to far. I did. I absolutely NEVER let my kids win in basketball. We’d play “21” a lot. Even up into their early teens the score would usually be 21-0, in my favor. “Ya wanna win? Get better ya pansy!!!”. Well, my youngest son is taller than myself, and was a decent basketball player. With a little effort he might have been exceptional. Instead, my ass-whupping his scrawny ass demoralized him too much to care about the game. So … he was a four-year starter in …. soccer. Oh, well. At least that made my dad happy.
What do you think a diploma from most schools is?
If you need a trophy to tell you you’re a “winner”, you’ve lost.
Those shit plastic trophies are just that – shit.
I saw that ad yesterday. I cheered.
