Stucky Question Of The Day: Occupational Destruction

Which ONE OCCUPATIONAL GROUP has done the most to bring America to ruin?

What can be done about it?

Hint: In my humble opinion, it is one of the above.

I would have included other choices such as Career Politician (this would be the winner).

But, given the above cited choices, it is down to Banker or Attorney. Most would choose Banker, but I choose Attorney, as most politicians are lawyers; lawyers also write the bills (they are paid by lobbyists for corporate interests, to fuck the citizens) for CONgress.

Since you left out politician I’d have to go with attorney.

The degeneration of the basic moral fiber our country was based on has been pushed on us through the courts by attorneys.

Focus on the question: sure, the usual two suspects did their part, but on a widespread basis I’d be very tempted to say teachers for having turned themselves into indoctrinators instead of instructors. A better educated population might be better equipped to deal with the depradations of bankers and lawyers and prevent politicians from cramming crap down their kids’ throats..

They are to busy watching their reality crap TV, facebooking, or whatever the hell it is they do that keeps them from seeing what is going on right in front of their faces. I try to open peoples mind at work and its like talking to a brick wall, even my family will give me the thousand yard stare.

I’m going to pick REPORTERS, the treasonous low-life CIA/actors who have convinced the stupid sheep that if it’s on TV or in major publications it is true.

Gone are the days of investigative reporting in the mainstream. How could the banksters get away with their dirty deeds without actor/reporters? How could the career politicians steal and sell us down the river without the MSM? How could Wall Street snatch the underwear clean off our behinds without these criminal reporters?

The problem is without a doubt REPORTERS !!

As a corollary, here’s a little pop quiz I put together. From the list below, pick only one answer you feel is the #1 main reason why government has grown so big, is growing bigger, and is totally out of control (hint: it’s not even close, my top choice is the runaway best answer – don’t blow it!):

1. Uneducated/misinformed voters, voter apathy & laziness.
2. The evil two-party system (it’s really a one-party system).
3. Evil bankers, wall streeters, and capitalists in general.
4. The president has too much power / congress has too much
power / both have too much power
5. Not adhering to constitutional principles and the utter
failure of the Supreme Court to enforce them.
6. Evil, greedy, uncaring, immoral & corrupt politicians.
7. Bad management by government bureaucrats, lazy government
employees, high salaries & benefits, waste-inefficiency-fraud & corruption.
8. The adoption of socialism, communism, fascism, corporatism,
authoritarianism, Marxism, Hollywoodism, Liberalism/progressivism.
9. Class warfare, prejudice & bigotry, illegal immigrants,
failure to secure borders.
10. The Federal Reserve & central bankers, inflation, lack of
gold-back currency, bad economic planning and poor economic
conditions.
11. Unstable/unfriendly world — America policing the globe, 9/11,
war on terrorism & national defense, Israel and middle
eastern oil interests, imperialism, bad foreign policy,
making the world safe for democracy.
12. The cumulative effect of too many stupid U.S. Presidents.
13. Conspiracy – The Illuminati, The Rothchilds, Freemasons, One
World Govt, CFR, The New World Order, Globalism, The
Trilateral Commission, The United Nations, the Fabian
Society, Bilderburg Society, the IMF, the World Bank.
14. Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Social engineering,
Welfare programs, government assistance, poor-people,
over-population, medical research.
15. Alien Invasion, UFO conspiracy theory, NASA, Flying Saucers,
extraterrestrials, the nuclear age, space travel, science &
exploration.
16. Government redistribution of wealth, greedy self interest, and the “something for nothing mentality.”

Personally, my second choice is probably either answer #1 or #14, but like I said, it’s not even close. If you didn’t pick #16 as the absolute best answer, you need help. But don’t fret, 94% of the rest of the population wouldn’t get it right either. Note: the reason 99% of the population wouldn’t get it right is because of random chance –- guessing makes it a one out of 16 shot, hence the 94%.

Governments grow, period. That is, and always has been, the ONLY motivation and ONLY goal of any government anywhere ever. Government is power. Those who get a taste of power want more. There are no exceptions.

The people are the only ones who can halt government’s growth. To do so, a large number of them must be informed, capable of critical thought, independent and engaged. This society as a whole is a great big 0 for 4.

So, a combination of #1 and #16, I would say. The rest are merely symptoms.

I love the picture with this post. All those artists, waitress, soccer players, and postmen ruining the world.

I’m with Gayle in it not being teachers but Big education, the Department of Education, and school administrators. I’m sure if government got out of the way and let teachers do their job without common core or standardize tests children would be better students.

I will say however that teachers unions and tenure are a problem. Bad teachers should be fired.

Thank you Stephanie. All this time I had no idea I was helping to ruin the nation while correcting papers at 1:00 a.m. after brainwashing my students all day on Dickens and Ray Bradbury.

I notice teachers did not make the big list, although I’m sure they fit under the lazy government worker category.

Gayle,

Schools are going to get blamed because they’re the foundation of education. What disappoints me about current school system is the testing. Education should be about learning and mistakes. It shouldn’t be about consistent testing.

For example, how many reading/english classes have students read multiple books a semester? I once got put into a “special readers” class in the 4th grade because I refused to read the teacher’s selected books (it was something way below my reading level) or do the homework. Instead I spent all my class time reading different books I’d gotten at the library.

In mathematics classes very little mathematics are taught. I recommend reading ‘A Mathematician’s Lament’ by Paul Lockhart about the dismal state of math education in schools. After reading it I felt robbed of a good mathematics education.

(PDF link) https://www.maa.org/external_archive/devlin/LockhartsLament.pdf

I did very little writing in school. Sure, I wrote some papers in school but I was never trained how to think and to how to properly format the thoughts in my head onto a sheet of paper. I never had a writing class where I was required to write for hours in class. You will never find a writing class that requires students to write at least 100 hours in a semester. In the past two years since publishing my first article on TBP I would estimate I’ve written over 100,000 words or more.

There should be less focus on testing and more focus on doing.

Gayle

Stephanie

Education is now completely driven by test scores. The first common core tests were given last spring, and as expected, scores were low because of the switch to a completely computerized test platform. My oldest grandson is in third grade at an excellent public school in my city. At the back to school meeting, parents were told the focus of the year would be common core math and learning to take tests on a computer. (On the bright side, a group of local parents is beginning to develop a protest against CC math.)

The middle school where I taught has been completely transformed in the past 15 years. Gone are woodshop, home ec, art, the class for kids who had trouble behaving in traditional classrooms, the fun pep rallies, the good food prepared by the cooks (now all prepackaged frozen crap). Music has somehow hung on, along with the one other elective, computer lab. It seems kind of a gray place now.

Last week I spent a day in fourth grade. This was the day they had their state-mandated hour of sexual harassment instruction. This will be an annual occurrence through 12th grade.

Teachers can’t be blamed for much of the disfunction in schools.

Stephanie Shepard
Stephanie Shepard
October 12, 2015 8:46 pm

I don’t think it’s the teachers fault anymore. Granted I did have some terrible teachers while in school. Those who had no skill or talent for teaching. Some who thought it would be a comfy job with the weekends and summer off. More often I had teachers who were either burnt out or frustrated they couldn’t teach how they wanted to teach.

The best teachers I had started their careers in the 1970’s and couldn’t be bossed around by the school administrators. Two of my history teachers in high school refused to teach out of a book and there wasn’t anything the administrators could do about it.

Gayle
Gayle
October 12, 2015 9:58 pm

Stephanie

Teachers do not have that kind of freedom anymore. They must teach toward the standards every day and they must use the materials given them, although they may supplement. Complete lesson plans must be posted in the room so administrators can check to see if you’re compliant with the plans that teacher groups have developed. If they stray too far they will have poor test scores and then they will really be under close scrutiny by administrators. If they fail to improve, they will not get fired (tenure), but principals have ways to make their lives a living hell and they get smart and move on.
