Unfortunately, the women I know in the military now are hellbent on making sure that every single aspect of the military is feminized. No more meetings about efficiency or posters about the need to fly, fight and destroy.
The entrance to the training squadron where I once taught has a sign with rainbow colored letters telling the world that the squadron is committed to equal opportunities and eliminating hateful ideas. In fact, it brags that every person who enters must be part of the solution!
Whatever that means. Women commanders in a man’s world suck.

I have one word for those who think all people are equal and have equal abilities; Construction.
I have worked in construction in various form on and off since 1980. I have worked at setting forms and finishing concrete, framing, roofing, siding, insalling insulation, hanging sheetrock, laying and finishing hardwood floor, setting and grouting tile, installing interior trim, painting and all forms of shit labor from digging ditches to setting curbstone. I have never done this work alongside a women. That is not to say there are no women capable of doing some of this work. On all of our current job sites, count 8 there are women in two fields, cleaning and landscaping, and yes landscaping is hard work, she is a part owner and wife of the principal. The owners of these construction companies are begging for help in this current bubble market. They rarely if ever get women applicants and when they do they are very wary as women tend to get “injured”, ie hurt themselves, at a measurably higher rare than men.
There I said it, I guess that makes me a misogynist or a realist. Men get injured on the job in much higher numbers because we tend to take on the shitty jobs that are dangerous and definitely not fun. I was painting the house this weekend and my wife and son were taping off the windows to protect against the over-spray. I pointed to the roof and said what about those ones on the gable and dormers, to which Mrs. Bostonbob sweetly replied, “I’m not getting on the roof, that’s your job.” I do not mind this, it is my job, just don’t try to denigrate me because I can and have to do it and please do not make it harder by making me work with someone who is going to make my job harder and more dangerous so you can “feel good.”

I worked in concrete construction for about 15 years and the only women I saw in the trades were one who was a concrete finisher and daughter of the owner of one of the biggest concrete contractors in town. She was no wimp and could do it all judging from the few times I saw her work. Cute too.
Another was the owner of her own construction site clean up company. She would visit job sites she was hired to clean up once a week during construction and clean up and haul away any and all debris. By appearances she should have been on a fashion runway somewhere but she worked her ass off. I made a mental note not to fuck with her when I saw her carrying two rubber made trash cans at a time full of drywall scraps and dumping them into her dump truck. She made a killing too! She got paid to haul all this crap away but she set up the bed of her dump truck with compartments to separate true trash from materials she could recycle or re-sell. Most framing materials she would cut to cord wood lengths or into bundles of kindling and she sell them in local grocery stores during the colder months. She had a real efficient operation and was always in motion.
The balance of the women I saw were maids doing final cleanup prior to sale.
I think feminists for the most part would be content with equal pay for equal work. I don’t think that most are looking for equal access/opportunity but as long as they are raising a ruckus, why not lobby for the 0.1% of lumberjack type women to have equal access/opportunity?

It is strange where you do and do not see women. Nearly 100% of the audio engineers out there are men even though it is a career field that women could do. We brought in as many female interns as we could at my old facility but none of them worked out as the job required single minded focus and attention to detail that no female I’ve ever met possessed. The first time one of them had to sit in a chair and listen to the same 22 seconds of music repeat itself for, say, 12 hours straight while trying to get a snare to sit properly in the mix would be the last time I would ever see them.
Now that I’m producing electronics for the recording and broadcast industry, I’ve got to meet technicians and inventors at very large trade shows and, if I had to guess, 99% of those are men as well.
Men and women naturally gravitate towards different things and trying to put women into combat roles is about the biggest mistake I can think of because an infantryman has to have attention to detail and women just do not have it. That is why men build things.

Your training is that deeply ingrained… breathing slowly, deliberately and silently through an open mouth. Using your peripheral vision to pick up things that you can’t see head on because it’s really fucking dark… No light – it will wipe out your night vision. Forcing your elbows down so you don’t chickenwing and hit a door-frame. Telling yourself to aim low because everyone tends to shoot too high in the dark. Walking toe-heel, slicing the pie, staying low and out of the murder holes…
Thankfully, it was a mousetrap that woke me up. It happens every winter. Critters want to get warm, same as us, and they get hungry, same as us. They find their way in and follow their noses. Always get a couple at the onset of every winter… Still, I’m awake and might as well make a quick once-around.
I nudge Mr. Mouse – well, Mr. Ex-mouse – with my stocking-ed toe. All this fuss and stress because of him….

Funny thing is that I completely agree with you even though when I was 12 years old, my father turned me into his “right hand man” when my brother joined the Navy. I could haul hay, drive tractor and he taught me how to do my own car maintenance using ratchets instead of my grip, since I had feminine strength in my grip.
I have terrible problems with my hands now and I think it is because my father tried to turn me into a tomboy when I really should have been doing girl things with my sisters. But I adored being his second son for a while. But it has taken its toll on my hands.

Your training is that deeply ingrained… breathing slowly, deliberately and silently through an open mouth. Using your peripheral vision to pick up things that you can’t see head on because it’s really fucking dark… No light – it will wipe out your night vision. Forcing your elbows down so you don’t chickenwing and hit a door-frame. Telling yourself to aim low because everyone tends to shoot too high in the dark. Walking toe-heel, slicing the pie, staying low and out of the murder holes…
Thankfully, it was a mousetrap that woke me up. It happens every winter. Critters want to get warm, same as us, and they get hungry, same as us. They find their way in and follow their noses. Always get a couple at the onset of every winter… Still, I’m awake and might as well make a quick once-around.
I nudge Mr. Mouse – well, Mr. Ex-mouse – with my stocking-ed toe. All this fuss and stress because of him….

Check the door locks and windows. Check the driveway. Watch the outbuildings for a few minutes – anyone that might be out there will be up to no good and will have a flashlight. Thankfully, there’s nothing amiss… I’m thankful not because I don’t want an armed confrontation, but because it’s fuckin’ cold out there.

Funny thing is that I completely agree with you even though when I was 12 years old, my father turned me into his “right hand man” when my brother joined the Navy. I could haul hay, drive tractor and he taught me how to do my own car maintenance using ratchets instead of my grip, since I had feminine strength in my grip.
I have terrible problems with my hands now and I think it is because my father tried to turn me into a tomboy when I really should have been doing girl things with my sisters. But I adored being his second son for a while. But it has taken its toll on my hands.

There’s nothing wrong with females knowing how to do stuff. This fall, I had a class for our little family. How To Change a Tire.
No, not just knowing how. I made my wife and son dig out the jack and the spare and made them change a tire. How to snug down lug nuts properly. Then stow everything properly. Both of them had to do it. There was much bellyaching and grumbling, but they now have the ability to change a tire.
But knowing how to do dirty, difficult work is very different than doing that for a living…
I’ll admit, I don’t know a whole lot about the Air Farce. Yeah, there’s inter-service bantering that goes on, but there’s a measure of truth in it. Zoomies get better accommodations, better food, most of the MOS’s are not exactly physically taxing. Some get respect – like Para Rescue. But the mental image I get is guys sitting around in very nice conditions, playing Call of Duty or Mario Cart and bitching about how bad they got it, with single females living down the hallway from them….
Yeah, okay, you’re in Moose Nut, South Dakota or Nebraska or somewhere else eternally flat. Because runways. That’s what the Air Force does. Same as how the Army or the Marines pick the worst shithole, boil on the ass of the world, and then puts a base there. It’s just what they do.
starfcker has a valid point. I’m a big guy. When I was 20 or so, I was pretty strack. Which – in the eyes of my platoon sergeant/section chief – meant they could hang all sorts of extra crap on me and make me hump that shit. And they did. I don’t see how a female half my size could hump all that shit when it damn near wasted me. Those of us living closer to the ground know that any gear they make smaller and lighter only gives them an excuse to hang something else on us. Or hump that crap all day and then use your e-tools to build Fort Sandbag in the middle of nowhere, then fill that shit back in the next morning – lather, rinse, repeat…
And this isn’t even touching on the dynamics of the unit in question. You have a bunch of dirty, smelly Alpha males in their early 20’s who haven’t seen a woman in weeks. Months maybe. Now toss some females into the mix. Man, that is just Bad News all the way around…
I went 8 months without seeing a woman once. When I finally did, to me it was like they stepped off a spaceship. The contrast was physically and emotionally jarring…
And what of our enemies? Women are not treated well in war. Just because we are supposedly, allegedly “enlightened” and “civilized” doesn’t mean our enemies are. Very Bad Things will happen to any female captured by the Haji’s… or anyone else.
And all because some toe-faced, clipped hair, mean-assed, man-hating lesbian “Feminist” with an ass two axe handles wide and a mustache agitated enough to get the military to acquiesce… any blood spilled is on their hands.
