@IS: You left out the part about Trump saying that Snowden is a traitor. And regarding stupid, just how STOOPID was it to invade Iraq? First in retaliation for 9/11, then because they had WMD; neither of which was true. You love your neocons, don’t you dumbass!

Most of what you said is true. We all make mistakes and we fools more than the wise but all of us can learn from our mistakes and purpose to do better. We each pick a favorite for many different reasons and none of them are perfect. When the other guy supports somebody who is your embodiment of stupid, try to be wise yourself. A soft answer turneth away wrath but grievous words stir up anger; reprove a fool and he will hate you but a wise man will love you. If this election comes down to Trump vs Sanders: God help us.

Jose, we’re hosed regardless of who wins this election. The only one out of all of the current Dems and Reps that might not be a tool of TPTB is Rand Paul and he has no hope of winning.

Westcoaster,

You constantly harp on Snowden, but if you will look up the laws involved Snowden actually is a traitor.

Giving confidential, secret and classified information to enemy nations is a definition of treason, go look it up and read it yourself.

Whether you or anyone else approves or disapproves of it what he did or what is written in the law is irrelevant, he is in violation of our laws against treason.

(A real good possibility Hillary is as well, depending on currently secret information the public isn’t allowed to know, but that would be a different discussion)

Many are written to protect the scum at the top.
I remember a cousin telling me that Wikileaks (people in charge) should be hung. My response was that (1) Do you really think that China and Russia didn’t already have that info, and (2) It provided the opportunity for our gov’t to take measures to shore up their obviously loose files.

It use to be that whichever candidate one chose, his choice was respected. That idea went off the track somewhere along the line. The most depressing fact of modern day politics is how few people are willing to get off their ass and do something. Her is Iowa, I have many friends who sit in the coffee shop everyday talking politics, fervent talkers. Ask them if they are going to the caucuses and they tell you, “It’s not my thing”. never call their politicians, write letters or do anything that requires them to get off their lazy asses. If you told them they were the sheep, they would feel insulted , but that is exactly what they are. You see, that is the biggest problem in America, apathy.
Nothing is more disgusting than people who are vociferous in the political views yet refuse to do anything active in politics. Examine your own souls.

Anonymous. Snowden did not give any information to any foreign countries or to any of our enemies. Everything that was disbursed to the media was first presented to our government to have them examine the information to be released first and to let Snowden’s team if it was a threat to national security. The only things that came out were things that embarrassed our government and government officials and evidence of war crimes committed by them.
Snowden is the greatest American hero to come along since the American Revolution.

@Coyote: Excuse me if I ruffled your panties, but I’m not the scorekeeper on generally who said what here, and could generally give a shit, but I know bullshit when I smell it. And if you’re paying attention my comments are generally to present the conflicting p.o.v.

AND@ IS: you posted this, not me. Snowden is a fucking hero. He supplied us with the PROOF the NSA has all along been spying on us. Up until Snowden’s revelations, Clapper, Alexander, et.all could lie to us without restriction. He called their bluff and that’s why this government (and Trump) want to indict and try him as a traitor with the outcome (and punishment) already decided. Were that ever to actually occur I would hope good Americans would stand and prevent it. I would be amongst their number.

Ask yourself why Trump would take a knee-jerk position on this. It might tell you what to expect were he, God forbid ever to gain the Presidency. Mushroom clouds and radioactive dreams. Over & out.

Soo how did he deliberately steal and make public all that information is such a manner that only American citizens with proper security clearances were able to see it?

Surely you aren’t idiot enough that this information wasn’t provided to hostile foreign governments as well as everyone else in the world?

Kokoda,

Treason laws, which is what we are talking about, are made to protect the American people and American government from spies and other hostiles that would do us harm.

Of course, you may be lumping the entire United States as well as all its people as “the scum at the top” and a lot of the people of the world would agree with you.

FYI, we have had treason laws since the day the Constitution was written, in fact Treason is a specific part of it.

Not that I really expect you to understand that.

Snowden took a moral stand and executed it. He did not release any classified information to foreign governments, and published only what pulled our own embarrassing intelligence community’s panties down around their ankles.

Pissed off a lot of people, but he’s not a traitor and knew exactly the rice he would pay for taking the stand he took. He’s paying the price and will likely do so the rest of his life. Too bad.

Specifically, releasing $150 billion lift of economic sanctions to the number one state sponsor of terrorisism via groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. Also, in the Iran agreement allowing Iran to self-inspect their nuclear sites. Why not? After all it all worked out in North Korea with Bill Clinton’s deal, right? Then, earlier this month, Iran captures 10 American sailors and publishes photographs of them on their knees at gun point, which is against the Geneva convention (which disallows photos or videos of prisoners). So guess what, the very next day, John Kerry thanks Iran for releasing them.

Perhaps, Snowden is not the problem.

Not that I really expect you to understand that.

IS: Snowden’s actions never needed to sway the critical thinkers. He needed to sway the sheople to make his sacrifice worthwhile right? Time will tell but so far it looks like he pissed his freedom for an ungrateful nation.

Bingo. Noone gives a fuck except for those of us few that give a fuck. So therefore, we’re fucked.

This is an illegitimate gubbamint, does breaking it’s illegitimate laws make breaking them wrong? Snowden is a hero regardless. Don’t see how we will get back to Constitutional small government after the reset. The American ‘people’ will never get together. The American people now consist of vast constituencies that absolutely loathe each other.

I’ve read that the only ‘law’ that they can use for treason against Snowden was crafted in early 1900’s (1918?); an obscure one at that. I didn’t save the article.

Most of our leaders could be put on trial for treason if we the little people had the means to do it. What some of you should do is read the great AC comment above (Dr. Paul) – and read it many times.

The elite are using whatever weapons available, including financial, against the regular people. Watch the Big Short and see what action was taken against those that screwed the world. More repression is on the way – hope you morons that don’t see that evolution, hope you get taken to the woodshed.

IS – We can debate the details all night long. My point is this: TPTB are accommodating America’s enemies left & right while trampling on the 4th amendment of American citizens.

Snowden’s “clarion call”, is, in my opinion, ” the prettiest sound on earth”. That’s all I’m saying. Perhaps it’s just a matter of perspective…

Another thing that bothers me regarding the American sailors being taken by the Iranians in their little canoes. The American boats had everything from M240 light machine guns to heavy .50 caliber machine guns. The Iranian “attach boats” were nothing in comparison and they came at our sailors with hostile intent in neutral waters. The Americans could have torn these fucking towelheads apart. So, here is my question: Who told them to stand down? Treasonous fuckers from upon high, that’s who.

Unfriendly

Why? Because ‘The treasonous motherfuckers from upon high we’re more concerned with honoring their Iranian Nuclear Deal and avoiding an international incident. That’s why. IMO. Fuck them. Personally, I would have pulled the trigger and blown the towelheads to hell. But, hey! That’s just me. Its how I roll. Is probably why the military would never want me. Oh well. I would rather defy authority than bow down on my knees…

I will never forget these words (or the Alamo)…

@IS: Your response re: Liz Cheney is EXACTLY what I had hoped for. For you see, I’m NOT a Liberal, I’m a Progessive Libertarian, even though commenters here on TBP have branded me a Liberal because I admitted that I voted for Oblunder in ’08. As you’ll recall, the choice was Oblunder/Biden vs McShitstain/Palin. To me, this was an obvious choice since I didn’t then, nor do now, yearn to see the Earth reduced to a cinder, and McShitstain would have pushed the button, probably more than once.

See, for you to say in no uncertain terms how you would NOT vote for Liz Cheney carries more weight than I, being branded a Liberal and somehow deficient in thinking.
What most GOPers miss is the fact you’ve been/are being played by your political heroes, and yes that includes Raygun. And remember Newt’s “Contract with America”? I do. How’d THAT one turn out?
