For some reason, El Coyote seems to be missing Llpoh’s exsanguinated corpse in the corner over there, assuming that said waistoid had any prospect of taking a scalp after having been flayed alive.

And Rose has allegedly hit anybody “below the belt”? She can get her focus out of the manure pile to target anyone higher than his bootsoles? Yeah, that’s “below the belt,” all right….

If my blow hit Llpoh it was inadvertent. I am not sparring with him, my blade is not sufficient to do so. Even an ignorant rose knows when to capitulate to a greater power.

I do not feel such respect towards the object of my comment. Having been shown none from that quarter, none is due in response. His mistakes his equal for his inferior, and I am afraid that is a slur that I cannot accept.

Tucci:
A truly competent fencer is sufficiently confident in his abilities as to appreciate the technique of his fellows instead of boasting of his superiority. You have met your match in the followers of this blog, sir, besting them is beyond your talents.

Better to participate with mutual regard and enlightenment than to continue on your current course. The foils here are not blunted, and may prove fatal to one so blinded by his own brilliance as you seem to be.

Rose thinks she’s engaging a fencer rather than a man with a garden fork and a shovel, then goes on to delude herself into a demented folly about how I’m supposed to have met some kind of “match” in the assholes frequenting this forum.

Were it possible that Rose might be capable of right reason, I’d invite her to read further up the thread, in which I recounted to Stucky my initial experience with these TPB shits and their fucktard embrace of argumentum ad hominem as a Bill Ayers fucktard tactic of what we’ll charitably call “debate.” I was delighted to receive such instruction, which informed that the only response warranted was to blood them immediately, vigorously, and viciously with any handy jagged implement in the retaliatory spirit of the prisoner’s dilemma.

I’m happy to stay on-topic. When the topic becomes personal attack, I’m happy to take up the tools of contumely and treat any such contemptible shit precisely as he, she, or – in Llpoh’s case, it – has earned.

Hm. I was delighting in flame wars when the medium was Gestetner ink on twiltone. You pencil-necks don’t even get “amateur” status.

EC, yes, “No Country” and The Border trilogy were my favorites by McCarthy. I read a few short stories by the mad genius Bukowski, but nothing by O’Brien that I remember.

My current favorite is Daniel Woodrell, Woe to Live On, Winter’s Bone, a couple more.

Tucci, when a man has dug himself a hole, he had best put down the shovel, not wield it further. As for the fork, I do believe that is protruding from your backside so as to indicate that you are done. That is the usual method employed when roasting turkeys, is it not?

Of course, what else but such folly can one expect from a man who argues with plants?

Yet another tsk. For a vegetable, Rose might at least have some appreciation that in these United States the frost line (while varying for latitude) is almost nowhere below six feet in depth.

UNDER the frost line, you stated. Mind your prepositions. That would imply a depth greater than 6 feet. Given your demonstrated preference for excess over efficiency, expecting you to tunnel through the earth is hardly rash on my part.

Tsk, tsk. You call a pome fruit a vegetable. Your brilliance is slipping.

Doing everything she can to earn herself a nice bucketful of Roundup®, Rose keeps what we’ll call her mind in the produce aisle anent use of the word “vegetable.” Ain’t it nice to observe that biology is yet another subject area about which she hasn’t a fucking clue?

She also missed the bit about how the frost line varies for latitude. Six feet down in the *maximum* for the frost line in our republic. The further south one goes, the less depth is necessary to prevent the untoward effects of frost heave. In the southern counties of Minnesota, for example, the depth of the frost line averages only 3.5 feet.

Plainly, she wants to be buried deeper than is necessary, at the cost of someone else’s labor.

How “Liberal” a sentiment.

Rose
Rose
April 2, 2016 10:24 pm

I hadn’t realized that medical school had gone over to Common Core English and Math.

To excavate BELOW the frost line, one must exceed its depth. Given your penchant for your actions exceeding the bounds of necessity, or even reason, one must assume you would dig to excess. You certainly are doing so here.

As for liberality, you seem right in line with their baffle ’em with bullshit campaign for world domination.

For future reference, roses are members of the family Rosaceae, all of which produce pome fruits. The ovaries of rose blooms mature to become an aggregate fruit, also known as a hip, which contains seed bearing achenes within a fleshy hypathium.

Given that this fact involves a working familiarity with female reproductive parts, I am not surprised that such facts have escaped your attention. A male must first be sufficiently appealing to gain any experience therewith. I fear you lack even the most basic attributes to have ever been granted such intimate knowledge of even the most desperate of females, flora or fauna.

Do carry on with your repartee. I am intrigued to know if your undersized britches will prove to be bedecked with a FLOUNCE on their exit.

Rose says: UNDER the frost line, you stated. Mind your prepositions.

Just as an observer, mind you, Tucci also misspells some of his fancy words. Like a goodfella, he buries his mistakes in more debilitating boilerplate.

Which brings to mind that some Hollywood type said a good contract is one written so the other party can’t help but break it.

Careful, LLPOH, I suspect Tucci’s forebears worded some of those NA treaties.

Rose with her “pome fruits” pissantry misses – as how else could be expected? – the fucking point that in biological taxonomy, if a form of life is multicellular and photosynthetic, it’s necessarily considered to belong to the vegetable kingdom.

As I’d said, she can’t get beyond the produce aisle at the Piggly-Wiggly. No surprise.

With regard to “female reproductive parts,” when I contemplate this particular plotted plant pretending sapience, there’s better reason to think about gardeners rather than gynecologists, isn’t there?

Especially when it comes to discussion of the frost line. A human being responsible for plant husbandry has to carefully consider such matters. Our vegetable Rose? Why, like Topsy, she just “grow’d,” and gives no more thought to the matter.

“I tried to warn you two nights ago.”

Yep. I think that some of the crowd here forgot that the point of debate, if you intend to win, is to stick to the topic at hand, present your points, back them up, and defend your position.

Of course if you intend to lose, just call your opponent an asshole and accuse him of weenie wagging and Cub Scout fondling. My view of this brawl hasn’t changed since the evening of the 31st.

Vodka, Tucci has not been able to eliminate Rose in several rounds. He may have landed a few blows but if he has this much trouble fighting a woman who he considers inferior in intellect, imagine him trying to land punches on LLPOH.

Tucci is all over the place with medicine, biology, husbandry and medieval literature.

There’s not much depth to Tucci despite the talk about the frostline. Reading his comments is like reading a bathroom companion book. Really, if you space out his long comments, Trump’s train of thought goes farther down the line than Tucci’s short haul commuter.

Thanks, Archie:)

It IS a shame that the breadth of his asshole-ishness exceeds the depths of his intelligence.

He could be quite enjoyable to converse with if he’d get over himself a bit. Pity that he hides his humanity beneath such an impenetrable bushel basket of verbiage and pomposity.

What he fails to realize is that people don’t dislike him because they are incapable of comprehending his blathering (although it is like sifting through the sands of the Sahara for one small pearl), but rather, they do so because of his insufferable snobbishness. Classic God complex doctor.

TBP does have its share of occasional idiots, but you’ll also rub elbows here with people of the same calibre that you’d find at the most exalted places of higher learning and in the most prestigious boardrooms in the nation. And yet Tucci holds himself higher than all of us. On what merit? His own bloviations and delusions of grandeur?

It is very diverting to see somebody like him, who regards his intelligence so highly, make judgements that are so vastly wrong.

In one small example, he holds himself as a greater expert on plant matter than I, and yet Plant Sciences is a field in which I hold a magna cum laude degree from an Ivy League university and years (more than I care to admit, a girl doesn’t willingly admit her age, after all) of experience in that discipline. I find it very hard to believe that a country doctor’s knowledge of vegetation or plant husbandry exceeds mine, and yet in his narrow mind it does. Ditto for Llpoh, he has probably forgotten more about management and business practices than Tucci will ever know, and yet Tucci dismisses him off the cuff. Sad to see such self limitation, such mind shackles imposed by arrogance.

I cannot imagine he is a very good doctor, because to excel at science of any kind, you must be aware of your own limitations, be willing to admit your own shortcomings and mistakes (and learn from them), and be open to broadening your horizons through listening and observing the work of your fellows. Confirmation bias has no place in science of any kind, it is fatal to good research, and yet Tucci is happiest when conversing with the soul that greets him in the mirror. Sad.

Ed mistakes my intent with regard to the bushy Rose (why eliminate a fne bad example?) but admonishes the TBP crowd of usual idiots: “if you intend to win, is to stick to the topic at hand, present your points, back them up, and defend your position.”

Ah, but whoever suggested that sticking to “the topic at hand” accords with the arrogant little assholes’ idea of a “win”?

Look, even if the ruck of TBPers aren’t explicitly leftist in their political motivations, their default tendency is to behave PRECISELY like the Social Justice Warriors in form and substance, advancing their bigotries without conceiving any need to “defend [any] position” they may take. Encountering rebuttal or observations leading to conclusions they don’t like, they tend reliably to drop the topic itself like a hot rock and leap into personal attack, whereupon the flame war begins.

At which they’re quite upracticed and charmingly maladroit, the poor shits.

Gotta admit that their eagerness to squeal “I win!” and imply that the disputant they can’t debate has conceded their feeble excuse for a case is, in its sub-Kindergarten way, kinda cute.

I mean, *were* I a child molester, I guess I might like it, mightn’t I?

Vodka: I don’t care to rebut his points (what there are of them) about IQ. That horse has already be adequately flogged.

My initial contact with him was a comment about his demeanor and superiority complex, and that is the subject to which I adhered. That is what we were debating, whether he is my better or my equal. He chooses to view me and other TBPers whom I respect as idiots and himself as our infinite superior, which is his prerogative. If I find such a stance to be ludicrous and take sport in using my thorns to poke holes in his overinflated ego, that’s mine.

It was an exercise in frivolity for me, a time passer for a dreary Saturday. I suspect not so much mirth on his part. Pity. It isn’t much sport when your opponent is such a humbug.

Frankly, when as many people call him out on the same behavior as have here, Tucci should do some thinking. I doubt he’ll take that memo.

Rose (in the Heinleinian sense) claims that she’s “a brontosaurus on [her] mother’s side,” writing that “Plant Sciences is a field in which I hold a magna cum laude degree from an Ivy League university and years (more than I care to admit, a girl doesn’t willingly admit her age, after all) of experience in that discipline.”

Jeez, “Ivy League university” ‘n everything, and the silly phototrope doesn’t know shit about the fallacy of argument from irrelevant authority, trying to speak ex cathedra on what’s a “vegetable” as opposed to a “pome fruit.” No Logic 101 in your vitae, blossom? Never wrote anything for submission to a genuinely peer-reviewed journal in pursuit of that “magna cum laude degree,” didja? Ah, grade inflation. It’s fucking everywhere, ain’t it?

I find it hard to accept the protestations of a pseudonymous commenter on a Web thread perpetrating expertism – especially in “Plant Sciences,” “magna cum laude” – picking nits (or would that be “aphids”?) to evade confronting the most basic principles of biological taxonomy. Savvy “kingdoms,” shrub?
