About the way it’s gone. Hey FM, per chance another installment emerging from the oven? I was kicking myself afterwards for noting some personal similarities about a character in YOUR story. Good way to kill a story I thought later, so my apologies for not thinking it through before saying something. Those particulars of Joseph are probably shared by a whole lotta folks and I make no special claim as to how it applies to a character in YOUR story. Even if it didn’t affect your thinking I shoulda kept quiet and not risk adding a distraction to your process. Just got caught up in the moment. Won’t happen again. I truly appreciate the creative efforts of yourself, Uncola, and of course HSF. So, onward and upward! Cheers!

A little different take. Same question, but must show your work:

1890’s. 3rd grade math
1920’s. 4th grade
1950’s. 5th grade
1970’s. 7th grade
1990’s. 12th grade. Extra credit for showing work. No calculators

2010’s. PhD Mathematic Exam question. Don’t have to show your work. Calculators acceptable. 60% passing grade suggested but not mandatory for diploma

The profit answers will differ greatly due to taxes lumberjack must pay, along with insurance ect.which both increased over years.
Perhaps we have a smart lumberjack and is working on a cash basis and investing cash in solid goods and land

The funny thing is that these stupefied treehugging kids grow up being so dumb that they sell off all their forest lands to the chinese so they can afford to pay all those bloated pensions and keep buying more made-in-china crap.

Then the chinese come in and cut down the trees…

Judging by the Mark Dice tapes, none of the 2017 students can read much less answer any of these questions and probably neither can their teachers.

Via Zero Hedge:

Of course, as we noted previously, our system of education is not entirely to blame. The truth is that young Americans spend far more time consuming media than they do hitting the books, and what passes for “entertainment” these days is rapidly turning their brains to mush.

According to a report put out by Nielsen, this is how much time the average American spends consuming media on various devices each day…

Watching live television: 4 hours, 32 minutes

Watching time-shifted television: 30 minutes

Listening to the radio: 2 hours, 44 minutes

Using a smartphone: 1 hour, 33 minutes

Using Internet on a computer: 1 hour, 6 minutes

When you add it all up, the average American spends more than 10 hours a day plugged into some form of media.

And if you allow anyone to pump “programming” into your mind for 10 hours a day, it is going to have a dramatic impact.

In the end, I truly believe that we all greatly underestimate the influence that the mainstream media has on all of us. We willingly plug into “the Matrix” for endless hours, but then somehow we still expect “to think for ourselves”.

There are very few of us that can say that we have not been exposed to thousands upon thousands of hours of conditioning. And all of that garbage can make it very, very difficult to think clearly.

It is not because of a lack of input that we have become so stupid as a society. The big problem is what we are putting into our minds.

If we continue to put garbage in, we are going to continue to get garbage out, and that is the cold, hard reality of the matter.
