I like to follow JC Collin’s stuff over at POM. He has been accurate in his macro political and financial/economic outlook and predicted a Trump Presidency would occur as it would be consistent with the new multilateral political and economic framework that appears to be emerging globally.
Based on this model I am laying my cards on the table right here, right now and predicting that O’Leary will become the next leader of the CPC and the next Prime Minister of Canada. He fits the narrative well. He is a Canadian version of Trump but less bombastic, because even though the majority of us tend to lean conservative politically we are soft conservatives – which means politically we tend to like our politics to fall right down the middle or very slightly to either side of center. The Liberals are proving to be too far to the left for Canadians and have more or less already sealed their own fate.
O’Leary is popular and well known with Canadians in general and represents Canadian conservatism on its face fairly well. The rest of the candidates running are too unknown and luke warm to appeal to the CPC base. Moreover, O’Leary will appeal to many soft Liberals simply because of his celebrity status.
He represents the “New Canadian Nationalism” that is emerging without going too far, and that’s just the way Canadians like it. We are America light, he is Trump light and this my friends, is the wave of the future in the West.
So say hello to your next Prime Minister my fellow Canucks. Given the trend globally these days I’d bet dinner on it.

Kevin O’Leary has announced he is running for the Conservative leadership, suggesting that as a businessman, he is better qualified that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to work with president-elect Donald Trump.
O’Leary said he intended to run in a video posted to his Facebook page Wednesday morning, moments before making the official announcement on CTV.
In a statement, O’Leary said Canadians need a prime minister who will kickstart the economy and support business — particularly in light of political changes in the United States.
“Now, with the election of Donald Trump to our south, Canada’s largest trading partner is headed by a businessman with an aggressive strategy that could hurt the Canadian economy. Trudeau doesn’t stand a chance, and we deserve better,” he said.
It’s official, I’m in. The Conservative Party of Canada needs a candidate who can beat Justin Trudeau and bring back jobs to this country!
— Kevin O’Leary (@kevinolearytv) January 18, 2017
“Canadians are looking for a prime minister who is not a career politician; a prime minister who will fight for them, and is not afraid to tell them how it is. They also want a prime minister who will be inclusive and not lower themselves to use divisive politics,” he said.
“Since the start of this leadership race I have looked for a candidate with these qualities, but it has become clear that I am the only one that can defeat Trudeau.”
O’Leary — an author and financial guru who became known to many Canadians as a judge on the CBC-TV show “Dragons’ Den” — will be competing against 13 other candidates, including MPs Kellie Leitch, Maxime Bernier and Steven Blaney.
Those already in the race faced off in a French-language debate Tuesday night in Quebec City.
O’Leary, who does not speak French but is now taking lessons, was not at the debate, since he had not officially registered at the time.
He has said the crowded field has reduced the debates, in his words, to “just a bunch of sound bites.”
Tuesday’s debate often saw Bernier the target of his rivals, with Leitch and Blaney in particular taking aim at the former cabinet minister on different topics.
The other participants were Lisa Raitt, Deepak Obhrai, Brad Trost, Chris Alexander, Michael Chong, Erin O’Toole, Andrew Scheer, Pierre Lemieux, Rick Peterson and Andrew Saxton.
Francis, O’Leary has his eyes wide open. I saw this five minute clip of him a couple of months back and was impressed. You may be right about him. https://youtu.be/i4bNtNHZQ3A
I am sorry but your comments are incredibly ill informed and with out merit. Canada will never vote for a light version of Trump the terrible.
We have to much common sense to fall for such a nasty and vile man. O’Leary is a clown and will never win the leadership of the Conservative Party. When he opens his mouth you can hear the rest of the Country cringe.
We are not stupid, fascist and racists Americans…thank God
LOL! Good one.
It will never happen….this is just American propaganda…ignore it
Robert,
Thanks for trolling by.
I think the same thing was said about Trump in general all through the US election. The mistake everyone makes is that we think we control this narrative. We don’t.
In general most Canadians don’t like Trump. A huge swath of them (even conservatives) think of him and the people who voted for him exactly in the manner you just wrote. And it is for this reason that O’Leary will win.
He is being positioned as the “Anti-Trump” fight fire with fire candidate. He is a business guy who can deal with Trump strategically while standing up for “Canadian Values” at the same time. It’s all bullshit of course, but that’s not the point.
Your inclination to fall into line ideologically is what keeps you from seeing the forest for the trees.
We are witnessing a huge shift in the way our world operates and functions. Canada is not an island at will fall into line with the bigger plan. Mark my word.
In fact – here is my offer – I am willing to put my money where my mouth is assuming it is legal to do so in all jurisdictions.
I will bet “dinner” or at least the value of a good one to any taker who is interested in putting his or her money where _their_ mouth is.
A nice dinner out for a family of four in Jim’s neck of the woods will likely run about $200.00
I’ll wager you that amount. If I am wrong I will donate $200.00 US to the charity of your choice (no matter how liberal – God help me!) and post the receipt here for all to see. I don’t mind eating crow, I’ve been wrong before but I don’t think I am this time.
On the other hand if I am right you will be required to donate $200.00 US to The Burning Platform. This means that in order for the bet to be legit you will be required to submit your real name and contact information to Admin. We have to be on a level playing field.
If O’Leary does not take the CPC leadership things will be over quickly and I will pay up immediately. If he does, you have time to save your shekels for when I win. And that I will.
I guess the only question is:
Kevin O’Leary is a walking, talking piece of shit. He is absolutely heartless and lucked into his money.

When he was on Dragon’s Den, he had a personal policy of not investing in any business that did manufacturing unless they were willing to do it in China. He’s selfish, greedy, egotistical and an outright asshole – an honest to goodness embodiment of all the horrible things Trump bashers wrongly believe Trump to be.
This said, I hate Justin Trudeau, who is so utterly vacuous he makes Obama look like an intellectual titan. Trudeau may be the least qualified Western elected national leader of all time.
literally a supply drama teacher and whitewater rafting instructor, just fucking wow.
Star,
That’s a great video. It deserves its own post. The seeds are definitely being planted right now. Change is in the wind – you can hear it if you listen closely enough.
Just like Trump and jobs:, The barn door is open and the cows aren’t coming home. Jobs lost to “free trade” agreements will never come back.
Why would they? As a manufacturer, why would I pay someone an outrageous wage and benefits package, when I can get the same thing built overseas for a fraction of the cost? Thanks to the agreement, there’s no import duties or tariffs to deal with. Because of “free trade”, someone’s standard of living goes up, and the other goes down. I’m sure you can figure out who’s going down.
Doesn’t matter who you put into Ottawa, Kanuckistan’s jobs are slowly slipping away, right after the good ‘ol USA. Doesn’t matter who is at the helm, be it Trump, Trudeau, or O’Leary: they can’t restore the status quo during the “great years” before free trade agreements came into being.
Hell we can’t even “give” away our LNG “holy grail” to Asia because of depressed markets coupled with the low Kunuckistan peso.
At any rate… good post FM
I hope you’re right FM. The long term party members will do their best to maintain their positions and act to keep him from winning the leadership. Mr. O’Leary will have to sell a lot of federal Conservative party memberships to have a shot, but unknown Patrick Brown recently came from behind to win the provincial Conservative nomination by doing just that, so it is possible, and if anyone can beat the current field of leadership candidates at marketing, I’ve no doubt Mr. O’Leary can.
Canada pretty decent Maple syrup, some good beers, and love that Canadian dry Ginger Ale. Sure we import their oil and that Newfoundland Hydro power, (Via Quebec), but it has become just one big safe space, a country run so long by the leftist progressive bureaucrats and so indoctrinated by its media and school system that no PM, no matter how conservative, can bring it back from the brink of total liberal insanity, just ask Stephen Harper.
Best we ship up our intolerant SJWs and otherwise insane liberals, whilst we take their few conservatives, i.e. Mark Steyn and Stephen Crowedr in return, seems like a win win, and the American Liberals will be much happier up there and the rest of us will much happier with them gone. The future Islamic Republic of Kanuckistan can continue on its long march to a socialist paradise, and total irrelevance under dear leader Justin the Magnificent.
Eh,it’s Canada,unless BTO/April Wine or Rush,really could not give a rats ass!
Hmmmm….,got a negative for me comment, but then I deserved it,your right,I forgot to mention the band Triumph in me post!I apologize to all who caught this unintended omission.
Rush is the most horrible dogshit dreck band in all of human history.
I actually enjoyed their music/shows in the day,so,out of curiosity, what do you if any bands enjoy?
I agree with you Francis. He will win. Especially if the Son King keeps talking the way he is. He had his honeymoon now I sense a backlash.
Justin doesn’t stand a chance against Trump. The Leadership for Conservatives is now Mr. O’Leary and everyone else. All he has to do is wind the clock back on Trump election for his roadmap to victory..
People here are getting tired of Social Justice culture run amock. Time for a real change.
Gun hater, “scary ar-15 only cops should have them, bla bla bla” -Kevin Oleary
Wonder what his thoughts would be on the AK-47 with molon labe/maple leaf made for canadian citizens and then repealed by the horse brigade.I suppose perhaps he would be ok with them as they did originate from a communist paradise.
Barney,
Never confuse a prediction with an approval.
Besides, it’s a long time to the election. Even Trump flipped on a few issues.
It’s one day at a time.
