MSNBC Anchor Admits “Our Job” Is To “Control Exactly What People Think”

Tyler Durden's picture

During a lively discussion centered on fears that President Trump is “trying to undermine the media,” MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski let slip the awesome unspoken truth that the media’s “job” is to “actually control exactly what people think.”

SCARBOROUGH: “Exactly. That is exactly what I hear. What Yamiche said is what I hear from all the Trump supporters that I talk to who were Trump voters and are still Trump supporters. They go, ‘Yeah you guys are going crazy. He’s doing — what are you so surprised about? He is doing exactly what he said he is going to do.'”

BRZEZINSKI: “Well, I think that the dangerous, you know, edges here are that he is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job.”

As grabien points out, the comment failed to raise any eyebrows from her co-panelists. Instead, her co-host, Joe Scarborough, said that Trump’s media antagonism puts him on par with Mussolini and Lenin…

Well, in that case, Trump in the White House sort of indicates they have failed at their job.

But they do manage to control what the leftists think, a shame our side doesn’t have a unifying force like that as well (but an honest one, not a lying one).

Each day they revisit the same media sources and obtain their confirmation bias.

If you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.

I don’t agree with the headline and what was said has to be taken in context.

That being said I still find it disturbing that the press has failed so absolutely and utterly. It is not news or “new” of the press’s’ failures either – their complicity and failure has brought our country to the terrible mess we find ourselves in today.

Examples:
JFK assassination
Nixon taking us off the gold standard (Brenton Woods)
G.H. Bush invasion of Panama to depose of CIA drug connection Noriega
Gulf war – Iraqi soldiers throwing babies out of incubators onto hospital floors
Bill Clinton signing away 100’s of thousands to millions of US jobs through “free trade” deals.
Bill Clinton doing away with Glass Steagall
Government version of 9/11 – metal beams melting, burning airliners, buildings collapsing and yet passports of the “terrorists” intact laying on the sidewalk afterwards.
Bush crime family allowing the Bin Laden crime family safe passage
The Iraq war and the mishandling of Afghanistan and the fraud and corruption
Cheerleading of the handling of the “economy” and the crime being committed by wall street and corporate america – the greatest theft in world history from 2008 onward.
Clinton’s 30k plus e-mails
The collusion of the DNC to fabricate and nominate their “candidate of choice”.
Cheerleading the illegal entry of 12 plus million illegal immigrants and the associated costs of such a mass.

The press wonders why a person as inarticulate and reckless as Trump can undermine their credibility.

Another thing that disturbs me is the “allegiance” and devotion people here give to Trump. My stance is simple and consistent – anyone that strives for power and leadership over you is probably not your friend or ally. Be on guard and be vigilant.

So you’re wary that Trump is actually keeping his campaign promises?

First President ever to do so, maybe?

I’m wary of all of it. Maybe I wasn’t clear enough.
The examples I cited are a failure of the press / journalistic duties – who, what, when, where, why, how.

I’m wary of Trump. He was elected fair and square on his campaign promises (illegal immigration, easing tensions with Russia, re-evaluating trade agreements, etc..). Some things I agree whole heartedly with others not so much. I’m wary of some of the people he’s surrounded himself with (generals and GS people). I’m wary of his spending plans (CBO estimates his tax cuts and plans will add at least 5 trillion to the debt).

Yes, I’m wary – I’m always wary.

It pays to be wary and I don’t disagree with your “examples” one little bit. But isn’t it refreshing, as Anonymous pointed out, that perhaps for the 1st time in history we have a President who is actively carrying out his campaign promises?
I don’t agree with everything on his agenda, but I voted for him because I couldn’t agree with anything on the bitch’s agenda.

Speaking of sides when it comes to the subject of the manipulation of the public mind seems a product of manipulation in and of itself.

We know how Scarborough got to this position. He was a hack politician who peddled his ass to the highest bidder. No surprise here. Just how did Brzezinski get here? What talent or accomplishment brought her to the stage? Could it be her blowhard Rockefeller stooge father?

With your last name as Brzezinski I don’t think you have to resort to any of that!
I wonder if she is related to Zbigniew Brzezinski? One of the fuckers responsible for much of the problems afflicting this planet!

I don’t know if they can control HOW people think but they do a good job in telling people WHAT to think about. The media told /talked / so much Trump in America that people started to pay attention .

George Washington was in the enviable position of not having to promise anything to anyone. By George (heh), he was elected and reelected unopposed and unanimously on his “No Promises” campaign slogan. Ok, I made that last part up.

WSJ columnist Peggy Noonan recently summed up Trump the best when she summarized his actions thus far as, “Did you hear what I said during the campaign? I meant every word of it.” Trump has delivered, and it’s been just over a month. The inarticulate, bumbling, Tweeter-in-Chief is just getting started, and I’m glad I voted for him.
