The American College of Pediatricians issued a statement condemning gender reclassification in children by stating that transgenderism in children amounts to child abuse.
“The American College of Pediatricians urges educators and legislators to reject all policies that condition children to accept as normal a life of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex. Facts – not ideology – determine reality.”
The policy statement, authored by Johns Hopkins Medical School Psychology Professor Paul McHugh, listed eight arguments on why gender reclassification is harmful.

1. Human sexuality is an objective biological binary trait: “XY” and “XX” are genetic markers of health – not genetic markers of a disorder.
2. No one is born with a gender. Everyone is born with a biological sex. Gender (an awareness and sense of oneself as male or female) is a sociological and psychological concept; not an objective biological one.
3. A person’s belief that he or she is something they are not is, at best, a sign of confused thinking. When an otherwise healthy biological boy believes he is a girl, or an otherwise healthy biological girl believes she is a boy, an objective psychological problem exists that lies in the mind not the body, and it should be treated as such.
4. Puberty is not a disease and puberty-blocking hormones can be dangerous. Reversible or not, puberty-blocking hormones induce a state of disease – the absence of puberty – and inhibit growth and fertility in a previously biologically healthy child.
5. According to the DSM-V, as many as 98% of gender confused boys and 88% of gender confused girls eventually accept their biological sex after naturally passing through puberty.
6. Children who use puberty blockers to impersonate the opposite sex will require cross-sex hormones in late adolescence. Cross-sex hormones (testosterone and estrogen) are associated with dangerous health risks including but not limited to high blood pressure, blood clots, stroke and cancer.
7. Rates of suicide are twenty times greater among adults who use cross-sex hormones and undergo sex reassignment surgery, even in Sweden which is among the most LGBQT – affirming countries.
8. Conditioning children into believing a lifetime of chemical and surgical impersonation of the opposite sex is normal and healthful as child abuse.
The left, as one might expect, reacted swiftly with claws fully extended.
Think Progress described the American College of Pediatricians as a “hate group masquerading as pediatricians.”
The Huffington Post said that “Once again, Paul McHugh has used the ever more tarnished name of Johns Hopkins to distort science and spread transphobic misinformation.”
McHugh, who formerly served as Johns Hopkins’ psychiatrist in chief, issued an opinion last year stating the transgenderism is a “mental disorder” and sex change is a “medical impossibility.”
The statement was also signed by Drs. Michelle A. Cretella, M.D., president of the American College of Pediatricians, and Quentin Van Meter, M.D., the organization’s vice president.
Gee…..who would have thunk it? I ain’t no genius doctor but I had that figured out.

I imagine that the American College of Pediatrics will find any Federal or other government funding and grants it receives disappearing in short order.
The left doesn’t tolerate any disagreement with their version of science, particularly science they have come to claim is settled science.

This was my first thought—This report would never have seen the light of day with Obama or Hillary as POTUS. Most likely it would have been squashed, but had it been released, it would have been the end of these people’s careers.
We may actually start seeing some real Science countering some of the leftists imaginations in the next four years as truly educated and unbiased professionals feel free to release honest results without repercussions.
This is a conservative advocacy group. They are correct, but they have been putting out statements like this since their start and did so under Obama.
This isn’t the medical establishment shifting gears and this group is still dismissed by the left as a “hate group” via the oh so honorable SPLC.

ACP has been labeled a “hate group” for a long time by everyone’s favorite Southern Poverty Law Center.
This isn’t a “neutral” medical group going against the trend. They are correct in their assessment, but they are a sub-group of the primary AAP. Everyone on the left has been dismissing them as a hate group since their start.
This announcement, while again correct, means little and didn’t take courage the way it would if it were the AAP making the statement. This has more or less been the ACP’s stance since the start. The ACP started in protest of the AAP’s support of gay adoption.
I have limitless sympathy for the mentally ill, but coddling them throughout society has led us to where we are now. Can we get homosexuality put back in the DSM, where is was until a decade or so back?

Im sure a lot less than that really feel trapped in the wrong body as adults. It should be obvious that only 5 years ago this was so rare it might have been 1 in a million or less. In my whole life I met just one person who was trans and one guy who I learned would secretly dress as a woman, he was a Jaguar specialist. I bet most of you never met anyone who wanted a sex change before either. But all of a sudden, starting in universities, this becomes commonplace?
Come on, how does anyone take it seriously. Yeah the pill makes women a little more masculine and being fat or other things lowers testosterone in the males more than before, but nowhere near enough to make them feel like the wrong sex.
This is all just about getting a promotion in “intersectionality”(victim hierarchy) and attention. You can go from the scum of the earth as a male, or worse a white male, to to the top of the ranking of oppressed by not being allowed in the ladies room. If you are female but too repulsive unpleasant attitude to attract a self respecting man, you can claim you are some variety of one with even more opression which you prove with a phd in gender studies. They are actually claiming that women are opressed because their studies show that trans men get taken more seriously after becoming male. They just had to use logic instead of feelings in order to act male and thats how they got taken slightly more seriously, if they were not just reporting any result they want.
Simple solution, let them have 48 genders in 2 States and the normals have 2 genders in 48 States. How bow dah?
Actually, I have taken care of about 15 transgender adults over the years. Every last one had serious mental health issues and also had medical problems as well. For example, about 50% of them had HIV. That is not an anomaly. An independent study had an HIV rate of 25%, with up to 50% in one subgroup.
Transgenderism is a mental disorder. Almost as bad as liberalism.

I wasn’t even comfortable with regular queers yet; they “triggered” me every time. I can’t even begin to deal with all the gender difference issues, new laws, snowflake nuances and sensitivities. If this shit gets any deeper, I’m going to some PC jail for sure!
