LA Commuters Spend The Most Time Stuck In Traffic

Los Angeles has a road network 42,720 miles long and it’s jammed with traffic. According to TomTom’s 2017 Traffic Index, LA commuters have to endure the worst traffic congestion levels of any U.S. city. Last year, they spent 44 minutes of extra travel time bumper to bumper every day, adding up to 170 hours throughout the year.

Even though LA was named America’s top city for horror commutes, Mexico City came first worldwide for traffic delays. Its drivers were forced to endure an extra 227 hours stuck in tailbacks last year – 59 minutes per day. Back in the US, Seattle came second only to LA for lost hours in traffic. Its commuters lost 152 hours in traffic jams last year, slightly ahead of San-Francisco’s 150 hours.

The infrastructure could be improved, however the libs, neocon’s and even trump would rather build more weapons and murder people around the world.

What Trump will do is to be determined. Libs won’t improve highways because they want you to ride the choo choo. Note that Texas is not on the congestion list. They build their highways nice and wide.

The problems with their “light rail” system in southern California, is that rather than connecting places people live to places people work, it connects a string of malls and government buildings to each other. It literally serves no purpose beyond wasting tax dollars.

California Democrats seem to have some sort of competition going, and wasting the most tax money on a project that serves no purpose at all is how one appears to win.

Jerry Brown’s ‘High Speed Rail Project’ – intended to link Sacramento-San Francisco-Los Angeles-San Diego, with high speed rail lines – literally does none of the things the voters voted for. It doesn’t link the listed cities directly to each other and it’s not high speed. It’s a massive theft of public funds and nothing else.

I think Jerry is winning the competition at the moment, though he appears to be salivating over wasting hundreds of billions of dollars on not repairing dams over the next few years.

One word- MOVE.
If you live in LA and don’t want to spend half your day in traffic sniffing fumes, just move and get a life. I would rather live in a yurt than deal with that.

There is a very clear picture here …. the libtards/cupcakes/snowflakes like to suffer …. and as we all know suffering loves company …. so invite the other suffering people to join in …. then call it a sanctuary city or state (just like Sweden, Germany and France) ….. has anyone thought about the first to suffer under islam are the muslims them selves??? …. now we have suffering squared …. the next question to arise is ‘who gains?’ …. for that we can look directly at those who gain from human trafficking and all of its’ hideous and evil abuses ….. prosperity and peace never arise out of denial, ignoring or covering up hideous practices by a few very evil people ………….. God bless us now for the strength to know righteousness and honor for the benefit of humanity ….

Good. The more time they spend in traffic the less time electing dangerous idiots to office.

Chicago used to be high on this list, before the Democrats chased most of the business out of the city…..

The 405 may count for most of those horrible delays. The congestion now extends all the way to San Diego. It seems the whole country has moved to SoCal.

It may just be a modern situation, all those 80’s kids growing up with a color tv in their room simply thought it natural to have a car per ass in the family, sometimes one per ass-cheek.

El Coyote, you are right when you stated: “It seems the whole country has moved to SoCal.” Except that country is Mexico.

That’s what Billy claimed. He went so far as to say that there were no white people in SoCal.
I understand your making yet another tired Cali joke. There are a lot of Mexicans in Cali, true. But I read a few years ago that illegals found better opportunities back east and began an exodus from Cali to points east.

Maybe LA has a huge amount of brown people, so does San Diego. But there are white enclaves and the freeways are full of luxury cars that certainly do not belong to Mexicans. I was on the way to the Grove when I spotted a Maserati sedan. When we arrived there, I saw a Lamborghini and a Mercedes Benz in the valet area along with a fancy BMW and a Bentley.

The chicken little story about whites going extinct and California sliding into the sea is getting old. But I guess it sells in Peoria.

The Maserati, Lambo, Benz, BMW, and Bently were probably driven by Saudis.

EC
Just the other day, my hand on the bible, I saw a similar collection of fine cars gathered as I pulled in line with my roadster. I knew I was in good company at The Dollar Tree.

Trump is working on a cure so white folks can go back to the good stores but I’m sure I will continue to buy my AA bateries where the regulah folks shop.?

Walmarts is going upscale, it has a membership-free online store with free shipping. When dollar-store ups the ante, I will shop there.

I’m glad to see my city made another top-ten list.

Here is Portland, the liberals don’t believe in building any new roads or even adding lanes. Instead, we build light rail lines. The beauty of light rail is that it is slow (because much is built on city streets), it is unreliable (ice and parades bring the system to a halt), and it costs a fortune to build.

BTW, everyone should stop moaning about the need for federal money to solve our transportation problems. Federal money is the most ineffective way to build anything. It makes the project twice as expensive and causes the project to take 3 to 4 times longer to build. If a city wants a new road, pay for it yourself. If you don’t have the money, then you don’t need a new road.

They built a loop around San Antonio many years back, all that accomplished was to extend the city limits farther out. Now the damn loop is as congested as the freeway clutter it was meant to relieve.

Apparently they didn’t make the road wide enough, then. The Portlandian idea that development should be suppressed is what causes the congestion. Congestion isn’t a bug, it’s a feature.

I can see why neither Dallas or Houston are on this list. Both have very good road, rail and bus systems. Yes, the freeways are bumpy and buckling and the drivers are often the worst I have ever seen (worse than Los Angeles) but there are seldom huge jams of the kind you see daily on I-5 through Portland or Seattle or I-405 through LA. Portland hasn’t built a new freeway since the 1970’s, but geography has a bit to do with that. Texas is flat as fuck and you can do what you wish there.
